CRIMSON MOON Preparing To Release 'Brotherhood Of The Sanguine Race'
- Sep. 13, 2009
Through what seemed like an eternity of turmoil and interference, the inevitable has finally happened. While on tour this summer with German black metallers ENDSTILLE, the infamously dueling duo, Nocturnal Overlord and Vampir Scorpios, have reunited to negotiate all the obstacles in the path of the CRIMSON MOON and have been feverishly at work on all-new material for their baneful and bloodthirsty upcoming release, "Brotherhood of the Sanguine Race", to be released by Germany's No Colours Records. Inevitably, also appearing on this album is Blood Moon Ausar (of DAGON) back on keyboards, and a new, more aggressive drummer. According to a press release, "The new material is faster and more venomous than ever, with a more primitive approach to song composition." Songtitles set to appear on the CD include "The Acrimonious Consciousness of Being", "Reawakening the Sanguine Breath of Tiamat", "Transcend the Darkness II" and "Communion in Blood".
In addition to the confirmed "Communion in Blood" reunion tour planned for Germany, an Eastern European trek is also currently in the works for Thessaloniki, Greece; Macedonia; Ljubljana; Slovenia; and Athens, Greece.

THE CULT Singer Says Album Is 'A Dead Format'
- Sep. 13, 2009
Fan-filmed video footage of THE CULT's September 6, 2009 performance at the House of Blues in Houston, Texas can be viewed below (courtesy of "reaganomics78").
THE CULT is performing its entire 1985 album, "Love", on the current tour. However, frontman Ian Astbury tells Metro that he doesn't want the "Love Live" tour to be seen as a remember-when show.
"I fucking hate nostalgia," says the singer. "It fucking makes me sick."
"These songs were written in a very earnest way, and the music I listen to now really reminds me of myself when I was 23," he continues. "You have to go away from yourself to discover yourself."
"We're at the point in our career where we have this body of work, a legacy that we can exploit, in a way. We're kind of between the old world and the new world in the sense that the music industry is dead, while we're finding our feet, and we still want to move forward and we still want to be out here performing."
Regarding the possibility of a new THE CULT studio album, Astbury says, "It's a dead format; we don't have the attention span for albums. The idea of going into a studio and spending a year-and-a-half creating a body of work which you put out as a body of work is pointless. By the time you put it out, it's already been leaked. … It's a year-and-a-half worth's of work down the fucking tubes. We need to put out bite-sized chunks."

FLAMER: New Song Posted Online
- Sep. 13, 2009
FLAMER, the new Finnish band launched by former BLEAK vocalist/songwriter Caleb, has posted a new song, "The Imperia (Hear You Call Me Now)", on the group's MySpace page.
A new, enhanced version of BLEAK, FLAMER "not only has a new lineup with whom Caleb continues his music but also new songs that show a more metal side to it," reads the group's official bio. "Also, all the older songs such as 'Crossword', 'What You Are', 'Silvertigo' and 'Fate' have been adopted by the band. The familiar 'flamey' logo has given the band its identification, and FLAMER will continue to have the same influence on the fans as before with music that both pierces your eardrums and your heart."
BLEAK announced its decision to break up in February. "There are number of reasons for this, but mainly the inner and musical differences within the band," the band said in a statement. "The group has divided throughout the years to a point where we could go no furter with everyone being happy. There was no greater drama involved however and nobody's pointing fingers or anything — eventually this was the only right decision to be made. Of course, we all feel kind of sad 'cause we've shared so many good memories together — but at the same time we are all relieved. Our differences have been a burden for all of us through years of sleepless nights, and now finally we all can breathe freely."
TIM 'RIPPER' OWENS' Bitten By 'Fan' During HAIL!'s Stockholm Concert
- Sep. 13, 2009
In a bizarre show of appreciation, a fan attending HAIL!'s concert last night (Saturday, September 12) in Stockholm, Sweden bit the leg of the band's frontman Tim "Ripper" Owens (also of YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, BEYOND FEAR; ex-JUDAS PRIEST, ICED EARTH) while the group was on stage performing its headlining set. "It is true," Owens confirmed to BLABBERMOUTH.NET. "He was singing and got so excited, he grabbed my leg and bit it. Then I kicked him and hit him in the head. Hahahaha! He was a big fan, though, so I didn't let them kick him out and it was fine... Funny... The other fans did grab him. I thought he was gonna get killed... Hahahah! But it was all good."
HAIL! is the new all-star project featuring Owens, guitarist Andreas Kisser (SEPULTURA), bassist David Ellefson (F5, MEGADETH) and drummer Roy Mayorga (STONE SOUR, SOULFLY).
In other news, fan-filmed video footage of MERCYFUL FATE guitarist Hank Shermann performing two songs with HAIL! — covers of "Grinder" (JUDAS PRIEST) and "Walk" (PANTERA) — on September 7 in Copenhagen, Denmark can be viewed below (courtesy of "Metalex1982").
Commented Ellefson: "I met Hank on Ripper's solo tour when we played at Sweden Rock Festival this past summer, as they were friends from years back on JUDAS PRIEST tours. Hank is the ultimate riff master and gave us all great inspiration throughout the years with his work in MERCYFUL FATE. So, the honor was ours to have him onstage with us".
Kisser recently stated about the band's Scandinavian tour, which kicked off in Trondheim, Norway on September 1, "We intentionally booked some shows in smaller cities because we realize that SEPULTURA and JUDAS PRIEST and MEGADETH could never play in some of these places, so we wanted to make the effort to give everybody a chance to come hang out with us and enjoy the show."
Due to previous touring commitments with ALICE COOPER, regular HAIL! drummer Jimmy DeGrasso was unable to make the Scandinavian trek.
Mayorga's ties to HAIL! run deep, having played with guitarist Andreas Kisser while filling in for the entire SEPULTURA 2006 European tour and also taking part in the Roadrunner Records 25th birthday bash in December 2005 with both Kisser and HAIL! frontman Tim "Ripper" Owens.
Commented Kisser: "I've known Roy for a long time and he's great, so when this situation came up to find a sub for Jimmy, we knew Roy would fit in perfectly."
Mayorga enthusiastically concurred: "When the guys asked me about playing these shows with them, I was thrilled! It is so cool what they are doing and to be able to help them out and fill in for Jimmy is truly an honor for me."
The group's setlist for the Trondheim show was as follows:
01. Ace Of Spades (MOTÖRHEAD) 02. Territory (SEPULTURA) 03. Symphony Of Destruction (MEGADETH) 04. Grinder (JUDAS PRIEST) 05. Stand Up And Shout (DIO) 06. Walk (PANTERA) 07. Balls To The Wall (ACCEPT) 08. Neon Knights (BLACK SABBATH) 09. Wrathchild (IRON MAIDEN) 10. Run To The Hills (IRON MAIDEN) 11. Black Metal (VENOM) (with Andreas on vocals) 12. Green Manalishi (JUDAS PRIEST) 13. Burn In Hell (JUDAS PRIEST) / Symptom Of The Universe (BLACK SABBATH) 14. South Of Heaven (SLAYER) 15. Peace Sells (MEGADETH) 16. Paranoid (BLACK SABBATH)
MOTÖRHEAD drummer Mikkey Dee is one of the contestants on "Kändisdjungeln", the Swedish version of the popular U.K. and U.S. reality-TV show "I'm a Celebrity…Get Me out of Here!". The series' second episode, which aired yesterday (Saturday, September 12), can be viewed in five parts below.
Dee, 45, is sitting out most of MOTÖRHEAD's current North American tour in order to take part in "Kändisdjungeln", which is being filmed in the jungles of Malaysia. Filling in for him on the dates that he will miss is former GUNS N' ROSES and current VELVET REVOLVER drummer Matt Sorum.
"There was a breakdown in communication, really," MOTÖRHEAD frontman Lemmy Kilmister told Noisecreep. "Our management didn't know that he'd signed up for this when they booked the tour. We didn't want him to have to cancel, they might have sued him or something."
A total of 11 celebrities are appearing in the inaugural season of "Kändisdjungeln", including Mikkey, Swedish wine expert Bengt Frithiofsson and actress Inger "Pippi Långstrump" Nilsson.
The show has received a lot of criticism in the Swedish media for failing to attract any A-list celebrities, which was due — in part — to the fact that the contestants reportedly aren't being paid for their appearance in the program. An artist agent who wanted to remain anonymous told the Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet, "TV4 called me [a few weeks ago] to inquire if I could make someone do the show. I asked what the terms were and they said that [the contestants] won't be paid but that it's like a vacation in a sunny place in Malaysia. What celebrity would travel across the globe and be gone for a month without compensation? Nobody that I know."
Consisting of 16 episodes, "Kändisdjungeln" was originally expected to be one of biggest shows of the fall for TV4, which is Sweden's largest television network. The program's format allows viewers to vote, by phone, text message or TV interactive service for the celebrity to complete a physical task usually involving snakes, spiders or other animals and for the celebrity they would like to see win. The last celebrity, after all the others have been evicted, is the winner and is named king or queen of the jungle.
"Kändisdjungeln" contestants:
* Ann Söderlund * Bengt Frithiofsson * Catarina Hurtig * Inger Nilsson * Jannike Björling * Karl Petter Bergvall * Katarina Hultling * Kennet Andersson * Mikkey Dee * Rafael Edholm * Torleif Torstensson

3 INCHES OF BLOOD Guitarist Interviewed; Audio Available
- Sep. 13, 2009
On September 10, Slavewriter6 conducted an interview with guitarist Shane Clark of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada-based metallers 3 INCHES OF BLOOD. The chat is now available for streaming at this location.
3 INCHES OF BLOOD's new album, "Here Waits Thy Doom", was released on September 8 via Century Media Records (August 31 in Europe). The CD was recorded at Seattle's London Bridge Studios with renowned producer Jack Endino (HIGH ON FIRE).
3 INCHES OF BLOOD recently shot a video for the song "Battles and Brotherhood" with producer/director Rick Podd, who has worked on such movies as "The Watcher" and "Hellraiser". The band also performed a very special headlining, one-off CD-release show at The Knitting Factory in Los Angeles on Wednesday, September 9.
Clark previously stated about the band's new CD, "Much like our last record, it is a step beyond the album that precedes it. We've again taken what we do a step further and not made 'Fire up the Blades Part 2', we've stuck to our formula — no formula. We are true metal fans and we've made an unapologetic metal record. I think this our most focused record to date, from writing all the way to mixing there was no unnecessary drama or too many cooks in the kitchen. This is 3 INCHES OF BLOOD at its most punishing, epic and mighty."

ICON-EIGHT EP Available For Free Download
- Sep. 13, 2009
Misantrof, the "anti" label headed by CARPATHIAN FOREST bass player Daniel Vrangsinn, has added ICON-EIGHT's 2006 EP, "Thrash The Moment", to its list of releases, all of which, in keeping with the label's policy, are available for free download.
ICON-EIGHT was formed in Bergen, Norway in January 2006 by M. "Mactabilis" Wilson as a reaction to his boredom with the failure of underground black metal bands to recreate the ‘90's sound. After many years of involvement with various bands and projects in the Bergen area, MACTABILIS decided that the solution for him lay within the thrash genre, and "Thrash The Moment" was, unusually, written and recorded before searching for band members, so that Mactabilis' vision for the band would be clear right from the start. That vision was to play '80s-inspired thrash metal, but with attitude, power, and quality that would make it relevant to the present.
"Thrash The Moment" will become part of Misantrof's "Archive" section, which was set up to include material that was either rare or difficult to find, or that had historical significance, so that the music could be made easily, and more importantly, freely, available, while at the same time keeping it safe for posterity. Other bands included in the "Archive" are NIDINGR, ORCUSTUS, DEATHCULT, LIDSKJALV, HAGGIS, SLAVIA and AMOK, to name but a few.

OZZY OSBOURNE Rejoined By MIKE BORDIN For SUNSET STRIP Performance
- Sep. 13, 2009
FIREWIND guitarist Gus G. played his second concert with OZZY OSBOURNE last night (Saturday, September 12) at the second annual Sunset Strip Music Festival (SSMF). Also returning to Ozzy's performing lineup was drummer Mike Bordin, who did not join the singer for the BlizzCon concert on August 22 due to Bordin's touring commitments with the reunited FAITH NO MORE.
The three-day Sunset Strip Music Festival kicked off when Ozzy was honored at a tribute event Thursday, September 10 at the House of Blues and it concluded yesterday when Ozzy performed the festival's final set. That's when, for the first time ever, the Sunset Strip (between Doheny Drive and San Vicente Blvd.) was closed to host two concert stages. KORN, PEPPER, THE DONNAS and KOTTONMOUTH KINGS are among the 40 acts that also performed throughout the day.
Check out photos of Ozzy's performance at the Sunset Strip Music Festival:
Fan-filmed video footage of the concert can be viewed below.
Ozzy's setlist was as follows:
01. I Don't Know 02. Suicide Solution 03. Bark At The Moon 04. War Pigs 05. Crazy Train 06. Paranoid 07. Iron Man 08. Mr. Crowley'
Encore:
09. I Don't Want To Change The World
Encore 2:
10. I Don't Wanna Stop
Ozzy's appearance marked his first full performance on the Sunset Strip in almost 40 years and his first ever as a solo artist. Back in 1970, BLACK SABBATH performed a five-night stand (November 11-15) at the legendary Whisky A Go-Go as part of their first U.S. tour.
Speaking to the Los Angeles Times on Tuesday, Osbourne waxed sentimental about those early days on the Strip. "It was like a different world," he said. "I remember seeing hippies on every corner, just trying to catch the vibes. For us English guys, it was like landing in some beautiful paradise. It was the start of my love for L.A."
Gus spoke out about getting the job with Ozzy in the new Greek edition of Metal Hammer magazine. Asked how he got the gig, Gus said, "I got a message on my MySpace page from Rob 'Blasko' (Nicholson), Ozzy's bass player, asking me what was doing, if I was living in America or not and saying that he wanted to talk to me. I never thought he'd want me for something like that (playing with Ozzy). I initially thought that maybe he wanted to talk to me about doing a project or something and then he told me that one of Ozzfest's managers was looking for me. The manager said that they wanted me to fly out to Los Angeles immediately for a show that Ozzy was about to do in Anaheim, California."
Gus added that he came to the States and jammed with the other members of Ozzy's band first before Ozzy showed up to sing. Then Gus explained what happened: "Everybody else came into the room and shut the door behind them — Ozzy, Sharon (Osbourne, Ozzy's wife/manager), the band, the managers... You can imagine how anxious I was feeling at this time! Then they came out and said that I got the job and that we're gonna play that BlizzCon show together."
As for replacing longtime Ozzy guitarist Zakk Wylde, who apparently did not find out until late in the game that he was being sidelined, Gus said, "Zakk is a tremendous guitar player, just like all the guys that have played with Ozzy. In fact, Zakk is my favorite Ozzy guitar player ever and my biggest influence of them all! It's quite an honor for me to step into his shoes."

COURTNEY LOVE's Attorney Slams ACTIVISION For Misuse Of COBAIN's Image
- Sep. 13, 2009
Courtney Love's attorney spoke to TMZ.com about the use of Love's late husband Kurt Cobain's avatar in the new Guitar Hero 5 video game. The game drew heavy fire online after it arrived in stores and footage surfaced of the Cobain avatar singing songs by BON JOVI, PUBLIC ENEMY and BUSH.
Love's attorney told TMZ.com Cobain's widow did give permission for the game makers to use Kurt's name and likeness — but she never, ever signed off on a deal that would allow them to make Kurt sing BON JOVI tunes in the game.
Love's lawyer said, "Activision is exploiting Kurt's image in a manner anathema to the very essence of his music, spirit and essence.
"I, along with Ms. Cobain, hope those who love Kurt's music strongly voice their sentiments to Activision and demand his image not be debased by singing the songs of BON JOVI."
Meanwhile, Cobain's former NIRVANA bandmates Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic issued a joint statement Thursday expressing their disappointment that Kurt's avatar could be used to play songs by other artists.
"We want people to know that we are dismayed and very disappointed in the way a facsimile of Kurt is used in the Guitar Hero game," they said in the statement. "The name and likeness of Kurt Cobain are the sole property of his estate; we have no control whatsoever in that area.
"While we were aware of Kurt's image being used with two NIRVANA songs, we didn't know players have the ability to unlock the character. This feature allows the character to be used with any kind of song the player wants. We urge Activision to do the right thing in 're-locking' Kurt's character so that this won't continue in the future.
"It's hard to watch an image of Kurt pantomiming other artists' music alongside cartoon characters. Kurt Cobain wrote songs that hold a lot of meaning to people all over the world. We feel he deserves better."

NEIL TURBIN Talks About Split With ANTHRAX, Musical Influences
- Sep. 13, 2009
VoltageMedia.com.au recently conducted an interview with former ANTHRAX singer Neil Turbin. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below.
VoltageMedia.com.au: "Back With A Vengeance" is the title of the upcoming record [from Turbin's band DEATHRIDERS]. How long did it take to write and record the whole thing?
Neil Turbin: "Back with a vengeance" is our tag-line! Nowadays, with all the major steps in technology, there are many possibilities and we have the ability to work in remote capacities over the same album. So, in our case, the work was divided in between the studio in Phoenix and Sweden where we collaborated with a gentleman called Jonas [Hornqvist of the band TREASURE LAND]. All in all, the recording process is different in comparison with the past. The songs are being put together and with the aid of Pro Tools we handle things more easily. With DEATHRIDERS, we don't have a label to support us but on the other hand we are not pushed to come up with new material. So, we take it slowly and go with our own pace.
VoltageMedia.com.au: The name of the band is an obvious reference to your past and the album that you recorded with ANTHRAX ("Fistful of Metal"). Is it really a blessing or a curse to have your name linked with such an established act?
Neil Turbin: The fact of the matter is that I'm linked with the fucking name whether I like it or not. I have every right to use the name… after all, I wrote the song. You know, once you get involved in something successful, then people automatically link you to that period of your life… it's like the case of an actor who finds himself tied up in a role and people almost refuse to see him playing any other role…they put you in a category! DEATHRIDERS is an original metal band and if people, or even ANTHRAX, don't like the name or the attitude of the group… well, fuck 'em!
VoltageMedia.com.au: You were a member of ANTHRAX for almost two years. What was the reason behind your departure?
Neil Turbin: I was a member of ANTHRAX from August 1982 up until August 1984. I was a member of ANTHRAX for exactly two years. The reason I left… well, there were a number of things, actually. The whole relationship started to deteriorate after a while, there was definitely backstabbing from certain people who chose to hang around with other people instead of focusing in the band. I was into metal…focused on music while Scott Ian [guitar] and Charlie Benante [drums] formed an alliance and Dan Spitz [guitar] just followed. In a matter of months, it was simply a case of them versus me. It was very difficult to deal with them, because it was obvious that we wouldn't get along and they were also more interested in other things than music… at least back then. We didn't establish a trusted friendship within the band… that's for sure!
VoltageMedia.com.au: I guess that you haven't kept in touch with them, right?
Neil Turbin: There is no reason to see your ex-girlfriend!
VoltageMedia.com.au: Neil, you have a very distinguished voice and you are considered a really capable singer. Which were your influences?
Neil Turbin: I really appreciate great singers regardless the style or the genre…I admire Paul Rodgers for his great ability and his unique vocal range. Also, Glenn Hughes for soulful style… We are friends and he has been a great influence. The other day, I had the luck to meet Stevie Wonder in the airport and get to shake his hand… He is one of my heroes I've been blessed to have met some really important musicians, but I don't want to isolate singers… I love metal music… all kind of bands from LOUDNESS, SORTILEGE, BLITZKRIEG, RAVEN, ACCEPT to NOCTURNAL RITES — this guy has a spectacular voice — HELLHOUND from Japan, SYMPHONY X, KREATOR, DESTRUCTION… you name it!
Fan-filmed video footage of DEATHRIDERS' performance at this year's Headbangers Open Air festival — which was held July 23-25, 2009 in in Brande-Hörnerkirchen, Germany — can be viewed below (courtesy of "stoneagelightning").

MUSTAINE On 'Endgame': You Have To Be A Complete Cotton-Headed Brain Donor To Say That It Sucks
- Sep. 13, 2009
MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine has posted the following message in the "Forums" section of the band's official web site:
"I have been surfing around the [official MEGADETH] site today whilst doing my yoga workout, and working some more around the studio; reviewing [MEGADETH's new] 'Head Crusher' video etc., etc., etc.
"Speaking of the 'Head Crusher' vidi [sic], there are three versions: My extreme version — not really extreme, just the real thing that hasn't been emasculated for broadcast; the broadcast version, which isn't really too different from the extreme version; and the U.K. version, which has no fight scene in it at all.
"The girl in the vidi is smokin' and she is really skilled at MMA. I asked to really focus in on her skills and not so much how beautiful she was, because the world is full of hot chicks. We needed someone to play a specific role. That she did! Our fighters, too, were great. In fact, you should call Jorge Oliviera at TheLiveLine [a service launched by Mustaine that enables musicians to connect to their audience over the phone] and leave him a message. I am going to work out with him a few times and talk to him about maybe putting up some jiu-jitsu lessons for a contest for TheLiveLine.
"The main fighter was in one of Rob Zombie's recent movies, and was a good sport about letting that pretty, sexy, talented MMA/model jump on him at the end, straddle him (we had to twist his arm ), and the bonus was she got to beat his head in [not really]. I almost could read everyone's mind around her when she did it too. It was pretty easy because we were ALL thinking it.
"As I near another birthday, I want to say that while you seem to think that I have given YOU the present, meaning [the new MEGADETH album] 'Endgame', I disagree. The real present is your support and love, again meaning the present is YOU.
"Sure, it hurts to see people [on the band's official forum] that go to the extent to lurk with a fake name and go through the whole process of getting registered here, just to come in here lobbing grenades at everyone. Sometimes banning cures it, sometimes not.
"Please remember that I play music because I love to play, but that doesn't mean that your opinions or your approval doesn't matter to me. I am still the boy next door; an old boy, but still a boy.
"All of the positive comments that have come from around the world leave me scratching my head and eternally grateful, but it also makes it really hard to tolerate people that say the [new MEGADETH] record sucks. I can't help but think, 'This is what happens when cousins f*ck each other,' and keep on with my life.
"Now, I know that not everyone is going to like it, but you would have to be a complete cotton-headed brain donor to say that it sucks. Just the ability of my band mates are something to behold and revere. That is slightly stupider than standing in front of a charging rhino just because like don't like the beast, and therefore their strength and power are not to be respected, all the while as the armor-plated monster cleans your guts from between his toes!
"Anyway, we are nearing the time for us to head to New York City to film Jimmy's [Fallon] show [on NBC-TV], and I am going to be playing a new guitar there. You probably will not recognize this guitar, but it is a new Dean guitar that we are releasing at the next NAMM show. It is a smoldering guitar!!!
"So, I am going to soak in a hot tub, because I feel like I have been beaten with a sock full of soap bars.
"God bless you guys for everything that you do for me. I will never be able to fully tell you how much I love you and how grateful I am for your encouragement during this really great, yet really not so great time.
"I will save some cake for all of you — I'm just afraid it will be a loofa pad by the time I get to share it with you."

MISERY INDEX Forced To Pull Out Of Mexico's MEZCAL METAL FEST
- Sep. 13, 2009
Baltimore, Maryland metal masters MISERY INDEX have issued the following update:
"Instead of being in Mexico City to play the Mezcal Metal Fest on Sunday (September 13), we are sitting here in Baltimore wondering why the festival organizers did not follow through with their agreements.
"Way back in May when we accepted the invitation to play the show, we asked them to apply for work visas for us so we can enter the country legally and perform at the show.
"In our experience, when traveling to many destinations outside the U.S., work visas are a basic requirement. Promoters routinely have to get them so the bands they invite will be able to pass through immigration without any issues. Having been to Canada, the U.K., Russia, Japan, etc., we are very familiar with the visa process and have no desire to run afoul of the local authorities.
"As working foreign nationals attempting to enter Mexico illegally as tourists (as the Mezcal Metal Fest organizers requested), we would face hefty fines, jail, or being flagged to never enter the country again. It's obvious when you arrive with guitars, merchandise, and other equipment that you are not just on vacation. With the ease of finding information on a band's activities via the Internet, we don't like taking chances by trying to fool the immigration authorities. However, after assuring us many times over the past few weeks that the necessary paperwork would be taken care of, the promoter failed to take any action on the visas (as described here). Yet, he still expected us to enter Mexico illegally as 'tourists.'
"We all love playing the metal, but when we are expected to take risks due to a promoter's negligence, we are left with no choice but to make the unfortunate decision to cancel the show in question. Such is the case with the Mezcal Metal Fest.
"We are very unhappy to have to pass up this opportunity to travel to Mexico City and play the gig.
"Apologies to everyone who had expected to see us there and we hope to finally get the chance to play there at some point in the future.
"Thanks for your understanding."
Mexico's metal podcast Familia Perro recently conducted an interview with MISERY INDEX bassist/vocalist Jason Netherton. The podcast can now be streamed using the audio player below. (Note: The program is in Spanish, but the actual interview was conducted in English.)
MISERY INDEX has been touring almost non-stop since the release of "Traitors" in September 2008. The follow-up to "Discordia" was recorded in May 2008 at Godcity Studios in Salem, Massachusetts.
The band's video for the album's title track was shot in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with director David Brodsky of My Good Eye.

MEGADETH And MACHINE HEAD To Play Milwaukee In November
- Sep. 13, 2009
According to WZOR Razor 94.7, the rock radio station serving Green Bay, Appleton, and the surrounding communities in the Fox Valley and Northeast Wisconsin, MEGADETH and MACHINE HEAD will perform at The Rave in Milwaukee on Wednesday, November 11 as part of the "Endgame Tour". MEGADETH and MACHINE HEAD — along with SLAYER — are also rumored to be planning a Canadian East Coast run in November. It should be noted, however, that none of these tours have been officially confirmed by anyone associated with the aforementioned acts.
MEGADETH's new album, "Endgame", is now being streamed in its entirety on the band's MySpace page.
Due on September 15 via Roadrunner Records, "Endgame" was recorded at the band's brand new, self-built studio in San Marcos, California — Vic's Garage — which was named after the legendary and iconic Vic Rattlehead character.
"Endgame" was helmed by MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine and British producer Andy Sneap (EXODUS, NEVERMORE, ARCH ENEMY, MACHINE HEAD).
MACHINE HEAD is continuing to tour in support of its Grammy-nominated album "The Blackening", which was re-released as a "special edition" last October via Roadrunner Records.
Hailed unanimously as the best metal album of 2007 by journalists, metal radio stations and fans alike, "The Blackening" earned a Grammy nomination for the fan-favorite track "Aesthetics of Hate".
"The Blackening Special Edition" is two-disc CD/DVD set that features an assortment of extras, including rare bonus tracks such as covers of IRON MAIDEN's "Hallowed Be Thy Name", over an hour of live performance footage from With Full Force, Download and Rock in Rio festivals, three uncensored music videos for "Aesthetics of Hate", "Now I Lay Thee Down" and "Halo", a "making-of" featurette on each video, "The Making of The Blackening" and expanded artwork. There's also what many hardcore fans have been rabidly waiting for: four never-before-seen performances of MACHINE HEAD celebrating the 10th anniversary of their debut album, "Burn My Eyes", captured in Philadelphia in 2004.

SLAYER To Perform Entire 'Reign In Blood' Album At Special Sydney Show
- Sep. 13, 2009
California thrashers SLAYER have announced a special one-time-only Australian show where they will play their 1986 masterpiece, "Reign In Blood", in its entirety. The concert will take place on Thursday, October 15 at Big Top Luna Park in Sydney.
Tickets go on sale on Wednesday, September 16 at 9:00 a.m.
SLAYER will release its new album, "World Painted Blood", in the U.S. on November 3 (one day earlier internationally) via American Recordings/Columbia Records.
The final track listing for the CD is as follows:
01. World Painted Blood 02. Unit 731 03. Snuff 04. Beauty Through Order 05. Hate Worldwide 06. Public Display Of Dismemberment 07. Human Strain 08. Americon 09. Psychopathy Red 10. Playing With Dolls 11. Not Of This God
"As we're so excited about 'World Painted Blood'," said drummer Dave Lombardo, "we wanted to do something special for the packaging, and have been working with some really cool ideas. They've taken time to get just right, and with our headlining the Mayhem tour for most of the summer, it's just taken that much longer to get all these great ideas exactly the way we want them."
There will be three different editions of "World Painted Blood" —a limited-edition CD with multiple CD covers, a deluxe edition CD/DVD, and a high-quality, 180-gram vinyl edition; specifics for all editions will be detailed shortly.
"We hope our fans will like everything about 'World Painted Blood' as much as we do," Lombardo continued. "Recording this new album has been one of the greatest experiences we've had as a band. We were together during the writing process more than we had been for past albums, we worked more collectively, everyone's suggestions and ideas were heard and considered, and that camaraderie is definitely heard in the new album."
"World Painted Blood" was recorded in Los Angeles over two time periods, during October 2008 and then between late January and March 2009. The CD was produced by Greg Fidelman, who's spent time in the studio with METALLICA, THE GOSSIP, THE (INTERNATIONAL) NOISE CONSPIRACY, SLIPKNOT and others, and executive-produced by longtime SLAYER colleague Rick Rubin, who suggested Fidelman for the project.
