Germany's DasDing.TV recently conducted an interview with LINKIN PARK singer Chester Bennington about his side project, DEAD BY SUNRISE. Watch the chat below.
DEAD BY SUNRISE's debut album, "Out Of Ashes", is scheduled for release on October 13.
The track listing for the CD is as follows:

Bennington began working on DEAD BY SUNRISE back in 2006, explaining, "I came up with a few songs that felt and sounded really good, but I knew they weren't right stylistically for LINKIN PARK. They were darker and moodier than anything I'd come up with for the band. So I decided to work on them on my own rather than turn them over and have them transformed into LINKIN PARK tracks."
The band, which is Bennington on vocals, guitarists Ryan Shuck and Amir Derakh (from ORGY/JULIEN-K), bassist Brandon Belsky, drummer Elias Anda (also from JULIEN-K), and keyboardist Anthony Valcic, recorded "Out Of Ashes" in Los Angeles with producer Howard Benson (MOTÖRHEAD, MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE).

Oct. 30 - The Back Bar - Janesville, WI Oct. 31 - McGuffy’s House of Rock - Dayton, OH Nov. 01 - Annies Entertainment Complex - Cincinnati, OH
SCUM OF THE EARTH's latest CD, "Sleaze Freak", was released on October 23, 2007. The explicit (PA) version of the album was made available at most retailers containing an added DVD video. SCUM OF THE EARTH's first studio album of all-new material since the critically-acclaimed debut "Blah…Blah…Blah…Love Songs For The New Millennium" (2004), "Sleaze Freak" contains 13 brand new songs described by Riggs as "heavy-as-hell grinding, stripper-rock." "It's a much more intense collection of material than 'Blah…Blah…Blah…'" said Riggs. "We did everything we wanted to do this time around, which allowed us to really embody the whole red-light-district sleazy vibe into the material."

CHARM CITY DEVILS: New Video Interview Posted Online
- Sep. 17, 2009
Michael Lello of Northeastern Pennsylvania's The Weekender recently conducted an interview with the Baltimore, Maryland-based rock band CHARM CITY DEVILS (formerly known as FORTY ACRES and CHOSEN SON). Watch the chat in four parts below.
"Let's Rock 'n' Roll", the debut album from CHARM CITY DEVILS, sold around 1,200 copies in the United States in its first week of release, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The CD landed at position No. 28 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.
"Let's Rock 'n' Roll" was released on May 26 via Eleven Seven Music, helmed by label president Nikki Sixx (MÖTLEY CRÜE co-founder/bassist).
"When I first heard CHARM CITY DEVILS, my initial thought, along with everyone at Eleven Seven, was this is a real rock band!" said Sixx. "When I listen to their music, I hear elements of credible bands like AEROSMITH and I feel AC/DC. I like the fact that they're from Baltimore and the way they relate the working man's experience. They're not from New York or L.A. You don't hear many bands from Baltimore and these guys carry on tradition with their own relevant and modern sound with classic riffs."
Selected as Sixx's first signing to the label, it's obvious that there's something special about CHARM CITY DEVILS. With their roots firmly planted in the blues, the band combines the best, loudest and most raw elements of hard rock, with a touch of punk spirit thrown into the mix. Recorded primarily in frontman John Allen's home studio, "Let's Rock 'n' Roll" retains what he calls "a very high-energy, garage-y type of vibe."
"I'm a control freak," Allen admitted, "and anytime you turn your music, image and everything over to an outside entity, you worry. But I know that Eleven Seven understands who we are and what we do. We're a perfect fit because our genre of music is their forte; they know how to bridge hard rock and the new generation of fans."

GWAR Frontman To Guest On Tonight's 'Red Eye'
- Sep. 17, 2009
Just as the GWAR "Lust in Space" tour gets underway, Slave Pit announces yet another appearance from Fox News "Interplanetary Correspondent" Oderus Urungus on late-night news/comedy show "Red Eye", hosted by the devilishly handsome, yet obtusely rotund, Greg Gutfeld. Oderus joins the show for the eighth time, again for the entire episode, tomorrow morning (Friday, September 18) at 3:00 a.m.
"Every week I expect to be sacked...yet for some reason they keep asking me back," said the mindlessly violent, yet disarmingly entertaining front-thing. "Could it be that I rule? Of course it is! I was way funnier than Adam Corolla last time I was on! " This episode also marks the 600th episode of "Red Eye".
"I fully expect to be there for episode six hundred and sixty-six!" said the openly extra-terrestrial lead singer.
"Red Eye" is a late-night/early-morning talk show on the Fox News channel. Airing at 3:00 a.m. EST on weekdays with repeats on weekends at 12:00 a.m. EST, the show covers a variety of topics, including news, entertainment, sports, and gossip. It is hosted by former Maxim U.K. editor Greg Gutfeld.
"Lust In Space", the new album from GWAR, sold around 5,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 96 on The Billboard 200 chart.
GWAR recently shot a music video for "Let Us Slay", the first single from "Lust In Space", which was released on August 18 via Metal Blade Records. The clip was shot in Richmond, Virginia by director David Brodsky (SUICIDE SILENCE, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, WHITECHAPEL) and his MyGoodEye crew.

TWISTED SISTER's fourth annual "Twisted Christmas" concert — featuring an updated version of the band's Christmas show — will take place on Sunday, December 6 at the Nokia Theater in New York City.
Tickets go on sale on Friday, September 25.
Video footage of TWISTED SISTER's last "Twisted Sister, A Twisted Christmas On Broadway" holiday extravaganza, which was held on December 5, 2008 at the Nokia Theater in New York City, can be viewed below. The show featured the band performing songs its now-classic rockin' holiday CD and DVD, "A Twisted Christmas", with a special guest appearance by '80s hard rock queen Lita Ford, including "I'll Be Home For Christmas", "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas", "Deck The Halls", and "Oh Come All Ye Faithful" inspired by their biggest hit, "We're Not Gonna Take It".
The promotional "I'll Be Home For Christmas" clip, which was released in November, features Lita Ford in her first video in 20 years. The video intersperses live concert footage of TWISTED SISTER and the TS bandmembers on their tour bus (and, of course, a hilarious twist of an ending), and it's by far the biggest production of all the "A Twisted Christmas" videos.
Formed in 1973, TWISTED SISTER dominated the radio airwaves and MTV with such monster hits as "We're Not Gonna Take It" and "I Wanna Rock", still staples at classic rock radio and television. To date, the band has sold over 10 million albums worldwide, boasts 34 silver, gold and platinum certifications from eight countries and has toured in 22 different countries. TWISTED SISTER has given over 9,000 performances in its thirty-plus-year career.

DUFF MCKAGAN's Story: Getting To L.A., Getting GUNS, And Getting Gigs
- Sep. 17, 2009
VELVET REVOLVER/ex-GUNS N' ROSES bassist Duff McKagan has penned the latest installment of his weekly column, which appears every Thursday on Reverb at SeattleWeekly.com. An excerpt follows below.
"A couple of months back, I wrote that I was going to test little bits and pieces of a potential book I may write. If I do enough of these tests, who knows? I may just have the start of a larger work. To make things coherent and in context, I will present things here in a broader sense. Think of it as an outline. Here goes another installment.
"The memories I have of the mid-to-late-'80s Hollywood rock scene do not necessarily include bands that may pop into one's mind. My band, GUNS N' ROSES, and the close network of friends that we kept, were a ragtag bunch of outcasts that remained rather insulated and kept to ourselves during this period. We had little in common with the popular L.A. bands then. Though parts of this story may seem a bit dark, this period of my life was one of the funnest and most profound. It also contained many strong elements of a young man's rite of passage, including a loss of innocence in many respects and facing mortality as a result of losing close friends to overdoses. Maybe not the usual rites of passage, but at the time these life hurdles seemed normal.
"I packed my bags and cut my ties with my hometown of Seattle in September 1984. The idea of driving to New York in my beat-up 1971 Ford Maverick became moot as soon as I realized that, on a budget of $360, the East Coast was just too far away. I decided Los Angeles was a safer place for me than the heroin-infested punk scene of the Pacific Northwest. I was badly mistaken."

CONVERGE: Another New Song Posted Online
- Sep. 17, 2009
In preparation for the release of their magnum opus, "Axe To Fall", on October 20, Massachusetts-based hardcore/metal band CONVERGE has debuted the title track from its forthcoming release on SPIN.com.
In August, CONVERGE released the first track from "Axe To Fall", "Dark Horse", which Stereogum praised as having "everything you could want from a CONVERGE song — knotty guitars, deep hardcore breakdowns, gnarled howls, and a triumphant blast of a finish — along with an updated dark-progressive feel you'll find threaded throughout." Since its release the Internet was set ablaze with swirling speculation of metal album of the year and mass critical acclaim.
Now, a month from release, CONVERGE has unveiled the teeth-gnashing title track from "Axe To Fall" on SPIN.com, who say "this foursome smash, crash, and destroy with foot-stomping appeal: Like a dropping guillotine, a screeching guitar riff falls into a cacophony of heavy guitar distortion, swelling bass, breakneck drum fills, and the hardcore screams of frontman Jacob Bannon."
Produced by guitarist Kurt Ballou at his Godcity studios in Salem, Massachusetts, "Axe To Fall" features guest appearances from Steve Brodsky (CAVE IN), Adam McGrath (CAVE IN), J.R. Connors (CAVE IN, DOOMRIDERS), Uffe Cederlund (DISFEAR, ex-ENTOMBED), John Pettibone (THE VOWS, HIMSA), Steve Von Till (NEUROSIS) and Mookie Singerman (GENGHIS TRON).

JOE PERRY Says STEVEN TYLER Has 'Got To Get His Act Together'
- Sep. 17, 2009
According to the Associated Press, Joe Perry is angry that AEROSMITH has been sidelined due to Steven Tyler's tour injury.
AEROSMITH was forced to cancel its summer tour after Tyler fell off the stage while performing in Sturgis, South Dakota in early August. Following the incident, Tyler had his arm in a sling and told RollingStone.com that he was taking a bunch of painkillers.
"The tour was building up to be a great tour, and I was pretty (upset), you know," Perry told the Associated Press.
The guitarist revealed that he hasn't even spoken to Tyler recently. "I haven't talked to him in over five weeks," he said. "I don't know what's going on with him. I hear he's getting better, but I don't know I really don't know what's going on with him."
He added, "All I know is [Tyler's] got to get his act together. I mean, he and I haven't written a song together alone in the same room in over ten years, so there's been some changes in paradigm of what AEROSMITH is."
Perry's solo effort, "Have Guitar, Will Travel", comes out October 6. The first single is "We've Got A Long Way To Go".

THE HAUNTED Drummer Diagnosed With 'Swine Flu'; Gothenburg Concert Cancelled
- Sep. 17, 2009
Guitarist Patrik Jensen of Swedish metallers THE HAUNTED has released the following statement:
"Bad news... THE HAUNTED Gothenburg gig [on Friday, September 18] at Sticky Fingers tomorrow is cancelled, due to Per [Möller Jensen] being diagnosed today with swine flu. We are working hard at arranging a new gig in Gothenburg as soon as possible. Thank you for understanding our situation."
(Note: NIGHTRAGE is still playing tomorrow's concert at at Sticky Fingers in Gothenburg.)
THE HAUNTED frontman Peter Dolving recently told the German edition of the Metal Hammer magazine that the band has commenced the songwriting process for a new album. "Looking at the ideas that we're coming up with, looking at the stuff that we're doodling around with, it's gonna be a very heavy and it's gonna be a very strange record," he said. "It's gonna be like a continuation of what we started experimenting with both on 'rEVOLVEr' [2004] and on 'The Dead Eye' [2006], so it'll be eclectic and hard. 'Cause around the time of 'The Dead Eye', we felt that we really needed to do something that we hadn't done that we really wanted to do, and we got a lot of critique for it; a lot of people didn't like it. We loved it, and the songs that we're playing off that record are going over really well with the audience and we're really enjoying to play them. So we figure, why the fuck shouldn't we play and continue to try and evolve as musicians and songwriters?! And that's what we'll do."
THE HAUNTED is continuing to tour in support of its latest album, "Versus", which entered the Swedish chart at position No. 14 and the Finnish chart at No. 12.The CD was recorded in part at PUK studio in Denmark with producer Tue Madsen (HEAVEN SHALL BURN, DARK TRANQUILLITY, MOONSPELL, etc), who previously worked with the group on its two previous LPs, "rEVOLVEr" and "The Dead Eye".

METALLICA also documented its three recent shows in Mexico City for DVD, although that looks like it will be released in Latin America only.

More details on Wal-Mart KISS activity, announcements regarding album pre-sales, sweepstakes and KISS appearances will be shared shortly.

FURBOWL Debut To Be Reissued With Bonus Tracks
- Sep. 17, 2009
Vic Records will re-release the long-out-of-print debut from Sweden's FURBOWL, "Those Shredded Dreams", on October 26.
FURBOWL was formed in 1991 when Johan Liiva left CARNAGE and hooked up with his old buddy Max Thornell on drums (both would form HEARSE in the '90s). After a few demos, FURBOWL recorded their debut album, "Those Shredded Dreams", in 1991. The LP was produced by CARNAGE/CARCASS guitar player Michael Amott (ARCH ENEMY), who also played some leads on the album (and not surprisingly Michael asked Johan to join ARCH ENEMY some years later).
This reissue contains the legendary FURBOWL debut, "Those Shredded Dreams", plus two bonus video clips, and a bonus disc with 11 tracks the band recorded before and after their debut album. All in all, a true monument for the most underrated Swedish death metal band from the early '90s! It was remastered by Mike Wead (KING DIAMOND, MERCYFUL FATE). The album has new cover artwork by Ivan S. Bragin (OCTOBER TIDE, THE GATHERING, HEARSE) and extensive liner notes by Johan, Max and Michael.
MONSTER MAGNET Members To Hit The Road With RIOTGOD
- Sep. 17, 2009
The best of New Jersey rock is hitting the road in October for the first of what will be many upcoming shows. RIOTGOD and FRIENDS OF BILL WILSON team up for tour.
RIOTGOD's members — drummer Bob Pantella (MONSTER MAGNET, CYCLE OF PAIN, ATOMIC BITCHWAX, RAGING SLAB), bassist Jim Baglino (MONSTER MAGNET, HUMAN REMAINS, DEAD GUY, LORD STERLING, RIBEYE BROS), guitarist Garrett Sweeny (PSYCHO DAISY) and singer Sunshine — are four creative players who decided in 2007 to make the music they wanted to hear, while searching for that infinite sustain. And joining them are FRIENDS OF BILL WILSON, fresh off an extremely successful national radio campaign. Developing artistically together for several years now, their musical range reaches comfortably across mainstream rock and roll to extend into edgier, more left-of-center trip rock.
Commented singer Damien Baldwin: [I'm] extremely excited to take this show on the road. We've seen such an outpouring of support over the last few months from fans all over the country, we're stoked to get out there with RIOTGOD and give folks a great night!"
Also, look for both bands on October 6 in Chicago at Delilah's bar doing a short DJ set during Ron Platzer's "Metal Shop".

As an added bonus, Casey Grillo of KAMELOT will be doing a drum clinic with Beatnik Rhythm Analyzers.
"Unfortunately, we ran into a scheduling conflict with CIRCLE II CIRCLE and as of this juncture they have been removed from the lineup of the Triton Power Cruise. It is greatly disheartening to not have CIRCLE II CIRCLE playing but we look forward to future endeavors with this incredibly talented band," said Beth Mays, promoter and director of the event.
"To have a band of the caliber of PAGAN'S MIND step in and play this event is beyond my reckoning. As a personal fan of this band, I am honored to have them onboard."

BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME: New Video Interview Available
- Sep. 17, 2009
HardTimes.ca conducted an interview with the Raleigh, North Carolina-based progressive metalcore quintet BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME prior to the band's September 8, 2009 concert in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Watch the 15-minute chat below.
Victory's metal focused web platform, VictoryMetal.com, is premiering the first full-length track from "The Great Misdirect", the forthcoming album from BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME. "Obfuscation" is now available for streaming at this location (free e-mail signup required). The nine-minute-and-fifteen-second song is a testament to the technically otherworldly original and proficient musicianship of BTBAM.
An audio teaser for "The Great Misdirect" is available for streaming on the band's MySpace page. The CD is scheduled for release on October 27 via Victory Records.
BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME vocalist Tommy Rogers recently told Noisecreep about the group's Jamie King-produced follow-up to 2007's "Colors", "It's definitely a step forward for us, I think. I don't know ... when we write records, we never want to repeat ourselves, and we definitely have done that. So, I was worried when we started writing this record that we were just going to end up with something that sounds like 'Colors', and that's definitely not the case."
According to Rogers, "The Great Misdirect" is "more dynamic than we've ever been." The band, he said, tried "different things" on this record, resulting in a rather equal mix of "mellow stuff and more intense stuff. It's definitely BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME," Rogers added. "That's the coolest thing about our records. No matter what we do, it still sounds like us."
He continued, "It's a little over an hour of material, and it's definitely a lot of music. The thing with us is — yeah, we do have long songs, but we just try to never have a lot of filler. Some bands will have long songs, but half of the song will be a lot of filler. On 'Swim to the Moon' [the last track on the disc, which clocks in at over 18 minutes], there's no downtime. We try to pack everything with music, because we like to give people their money's worth."
