JON OLIVA'S PAIN: New Album Title, Release Date Announced - Nov. 5, 2009
JON OLIVA'S PAIN, the band led by SAVATAGE mastermind Jon Oliva, has set "Festival" as the title of its fourth album, due on February 19, 2010 via AFM Records. A March/April European tour will be confirmed soon, culminating with the filming of a live DVD consisting of music from the four JON OLIVA'S PAIN CDs and a healthy dose of SAVATAGE classics.

Drummer Christopher Kinder recently stated about the forthcoming JON OLIVA'S PAIN CD, "Part of the staple JON OLIVA'S PAIN sound has become [Jon's] ability to change characters and voices at will and to create incredibly interesting, thought-provoking, passionate and downright insane vocal melodies. [Producer] Tom Morris and I have been pushing him to the edge (as Jon Oliva requested), and we have met that challenge with great enthusiasm and also a bit of joy watching him suffer.... .

"Oliva's tenancious attitude, drive and full desire to do the best he can is only partially over-shadowed by the seemingly impossible task of singing songs that would require most of us to swallow mass consumptions of razor-blades in order to deliver what would be considered as torture to any metal music lover.

"We are all stoked, to say the least, and proud of his commitment to giving all of you... all he has!"

Quality video footage of JON OLIVA'S PAIN's May 31, 2009 concert at De Boerderij in Zoetermeer, Netherlands can be viewed below (courtesy of "letthemetalflow").

JON OLIVA'S PAIN's latest album, "Global Warning", was released in the U.S. in May 2008 via Locomotive Records. The CD features a guest appearance by guitarist Ralph Santolla (OBITUARY, ex-DEICIDE, DEATH, ICED EARTH) on two songs: "Adding the Cost" and "You'll Never Know".

Î totally agree! Jon is one of the most gifted musicians and songwriters on the planet and it hurts that everytime I see him onstage I wonder if it's gonna be the last! Matt LaPorte doesn't exactly look healthy either!

C'mon guys! We wanna see you another 20 years, at least!

Jon's weight is reflecting the emotional pain and loss of his brother Criss. Yes, it has been 16 years since the FUCKED UP event and that drunk fucker should be hunted down and done with, slowly...while listening to all the mighty SAVATAGE CDS one at a time, along with watching every video, studio and live show to see what he destroyed...Jon's pain is so GREAT still, Criss was his soul brother...enough of the bullshit, somebody has got to step in and UP to save Jon! What fuckers are leeching off of him? Oh, his band, management, friends, label , what is left of his family and hangers on! You pussies will burn in hell forever for NOT truly helping Jon besides yourselves...Where is the intervention with Dr. Drew at least? I am in CA, but if was in FL, would kidnap Jon and make him into NEO from The Matrix...this is killing me.....

I hope this disc is as good as the last two. This band is so underrated and they deserve some success. Here's to another killer disc from JOP.

Cheers

I'll support this brilliant musician and JOP for as long as they
are making music. Everyone has their issues, but
very few people in history have the kind of talent
that the Mountain King has!

Can't wait for the new JOP CD and now a live DVD too!

Kick ass...\m/

I've loved these guys since 1984 (Savatage). Saw them kick ass at Kinetix in OKC Bricktown when it was still abandoned warehouses many years ago. Hope they're able to get over their demons and continue on for many more years. Hold on to the good memories and flush the bad shit away! You've got a lot of fans and good times to come.

Oh, man...LaPorte really looks bad, too. He's always been a big fella, but a meaty big, not an overweight big.

I do agree that they really need to start taking better care of themselves. I dunno if LaPorte has any reason, but if Jon's is a result of his brother's death, then it's understandable -- but not excusable.

Jon Oliva's Pain is really good. I didn't care much for Global Warning, but 'Tage Mahal and Maniacal Renderings were both exceptionally good. I'm just really hoping that they change their situation, otherwise someone is going to wind up dead from poor health and rob us of years of great music. It's a win-win situation for them to get healthy.
