MEGADETH: 'Anthology: Set The World Afire' Track Listing Corrected - Aug. 20, 2008
MEGADETH's official web site has posted an update on the group's forthcoming "Anthology: Set The World Afire" career-spanning 2-CD and digital collection, which is scheduled to be released September 30 by Capitol/EMI. There has been a change to the track listing which did not appear on a press release that was issued on Monday (August 18): specifically, "Foreclosure Of A Dream" has replaced "Sleepwalker" as track 16 on Disc 2. MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine commented: "As I have always said, 'it ain't official until you read it [on MEGADETH's official web site]!'"

"Anthology: Set The World Afire" features MEGADETH's top hits and fan favorites, a previously unreleased demo and two rare concert recordings. It is loaded with 35 electrifying tracks, among them MEGADETH's top hits, including "Trust", "A Tout Le Monde", "Insomnia" and "Train of Consequences". Also included are rare 1992 concert recordings of "Peace Sells" and "Symphony of Destruction", previously available only in limited release, the latter having never been released in the U.S. "High Speed Dirt" is a demo version, previously unreleased.

And the money train rolls on. But don't expect Dave's legion of sheep to call him out on it. Cause Dave's too real to be about money.

And oh yeah...nice cover!

I like Megadeth and everything, but how many times are they going to release these anthology/best of's? Dave must be trying to fulfill the record contract for Megadeth or something, possibly resign with a different label for solo records?

When a record company like Capitol owns the masters to a series of recordings, they can exploit them anyhow they choose. In certain cases, the artist can take the masters when they leave the label, but this is only usually after extended negotiations and very specific circumstances.

Clearly Megadeth's masters for this time frame are owned by Capitol, hence the number of "Greatest Hits" releases incorporating live tracks.

I love MegadetH, but besides the fact that I own all the albums already, I've got "Warchest", "Back To The Start" and "Capitol Punishment". I've got enough "best of" shit from them. And I only bought "Back To The Start" for the dvd which came with it. And the dvd sucked so it was a gip.

its not Dave it's the fucking record company!!

On the other hand it's always a good deal for new fan who'd like to get a good compilation for a good price. I mean "warchest" is so expensive and a new fan would prefer something like Anthology: Set The World Afire cos it's cheaper plus it's got all the essentials and hard to find songs like crown of worms, new world order along with all the classics.

So very good thrash metal compilation for a new fan.

I think the artist who rips their fan off are metallica! Metallica havent released a decent album in the past 20 years! they wanted money and fed the fans with load and re-load of shit and then the other cd I wont mention the name ;)

Megadeth only had one bad album "risk" everything else from Megadeth is top quality stuff.

Anthology: Set The World Afire GREAT CD COVER

megadeth \m/

GREAT CD COVER? Hope you're joking, cause that is the sloppiest piece of shit I've ever seen. And I'm not surprised that Metallica got thrown into the mix. They rip off fans? How many compilations have they put out? If you count Garage Inc. the total comes to one, and half of that was new material. Megadeth only has three great records. SFSGSW blows, as does their entire post RIP catalog (with the exception of a few songs here and there). But my yappin' isn't going to stop your reflexive, Pavlovian "DAVE RULZ METALLICA SUX" routine. Now go ahead, and tell us how Dave wrote all the material on the first three albums. Yawn...

That doesnt make any sense, it's so random. The tracks go in chronological order by album, then it just randomly goes from TWNAH (Dread And The Fugitive Mind) back to CTE (Foreclosure) . Wtf, sleepwalker made sense. Whatever, Im not buying it anyway.

Man, what is your problem? This is a Megadeth thread and you're still bashing Metallica. For someone who doesn't like them, you are awfully obsessed with writing about them. Are you a Metalli-phobe?

Get a grip. Ease up. Make a constructive point. Have a Coke and a smile. You are starting to come off like Metallica's Mark David Chapman.

People bashing Mustaine here are fucking clueless, he`ll have had no say, input or choice in this release. He`s not even with this record company anymore, they can do what they hell they like with these songs, they still own the copyright. It`s them that are fleecing people, up to the customer to not buy it. The reason the track listing is random is it`s probably been chosen at random by someone who has nothing to do with the band!

WTF!!!

For some reason my three favorite MEGADETH tracks: "Crush 'Em", "Motopsycho" and "Tout Le Mode (Set Me Free)" w/ Cristina Scabbia never made the cut.

That sucks.

It`s a capitol release, they don`t have the rights for the re-recorded A Tout le Monde. I think you`d be on your own calling out for Crush `Em...

Sorry, snowy white, but you do indeed stand alone when raising hell to hear "Crush 'Em". Me personaly, I'm saying where the fuck is "Looking Down The Cross" & "Five Magics"? As far as "A Tout Le Monde" goes, Cristina Scabbia can do what she probably does best and suck a dick. Nothing beats the original. But I'm over 18, so I remember when the original was released and how bad ass it was (still is, actually). Sorry folks, but U.A. is a weak album. Couple of good songs, yeah. But I wouldn't say "Black Ice" is going to be on any of the next few "best of" collections. Seriously, tho: Why is "Insomnia" on the track list? 'Cos if it's that remastered version it needs to be removed.

"Metallica has been a joke in metal for over 20 years now. Did I mention they are also the biggest sellout in metal music history?"

Over 20 years, eh? So Justice (which came out in 1988) is a joke? Re-revisited is a joke? Got to question your taste there. As to the whole sellout thing, you could make a fair argument that they sold out. You could make the argument, but I wouldn't agree with it. Sure, everything they put out since the first four pales in comparison. But your beloved Megadeth followed their lead in this. Countdown rather blatantly followed the lead of the Black Album. Dave saw the success, and tried to follow the lead. Simpler, slower songs with more emphasis on hooks? Check. Getting rid of the bombastic Album cover iconography (AKA no Vic Rattlehead on the cover and tried to get "artsy" with it)--check. I love it when people make the whole argument about the purity of MegaDave as opposed to the supposed pandering of Metallica, when Dave totally followed their lead in the nineties.

A band releasing one best of record... that's cool... New fans might want it... But several... that sucks! The same with live albuns (except Kiss Alive I, II and III)... I rather see live DVDs than live CDs or best of things....
