Attorney: AEROSMITH Could Have Averted Lawsuit - Oct. 24, 2007
Alfred Branch, Jr. of TicketNews reports that the attorney representing a group of unhappy AEROSMITH fans in a class action lawsuit against the band said the complaint was launched because thousands of fans were out hundreds of dollars beyond the cost of tickets. (Download a copy of the lawsuit as a PDF file at this location.)

In an interview with TicketNews, Brandee Faria explained that the band's planned Sept. 26 concert on Maui presented logistical challenges for fans that most normal shows do not.

"AEROSMITH announced that it was going to come to Hawaii and perform a concert on Maui, where about only 11 percent of the state's population live. Unlike the mainland, where most concerts can be attended for the price of the ticket and some gas, most of the 10,000 Hawaii fans had to pay for airfare, hotel and car rental," Faria said. The show was scheduled for a Wednesday when many people would have to take time off from work in order to attend.

The band then cancelled, rather than reschedule the Maui concert, a few days before the scheduled show in favor of a larger, more profitable concert in Chicago, according to Faria, but when the band first announced the cancellation, "they provided no reason at all" for the move. Later, they said the reason for canceling was logistics in getting their equipment to Hawaii, but AEROSMITH then allegedly came to the islands with their equipment, spent a few days vacationing on Maui, and then performed a private gig for Toyota on Oahu only days after their cancelled Maui concert, Faria continued.

ARCH ENEMY Frontwoman Issues U.S Tour, LOUDPARK 07 Recap - Oct. 24, 2007
ARCH ENEMY frontwoman Angela Gossow has issued the following recap of the band's U.S. tour and appearance at the Loudpark 07 festival in Japan:

"The Black Tyranny tour has been a wild, dangerous, exhausting and also enjoyable ride for all of us! A lot of strong shows and we had a great time — with our fans and the awesome guys from MACHINE HEAD, THROWDOWN and SANCTITY. Great tour!

"The last show in L.A. show was insane, fantastic crowd, hung out with Kerry and lovely Aisha King, Allen Steelgrave from ESP, did an interview with Metal Sanaz for her MySpace thing, and bumped into so many other people — it's all a blur now. Too much too handle. Oh yeah, I jumped on stage and screamed on 'Davidian' with MACHINE HEAD too. Fun!

"In L.A. we also got rid of our psycho bus driver who could have killed us all with his relentless speeding and emotional outbreaks behind the wheel. He made us fear for our lives and that doesn't make you sleep too well on a bus…

"Luckily we did the 15-hour drive from L.A. to Vancouver with our new driver who was refreshingly sweet, helpful and reliable. We played three headline shows in Canada on our own, no rest for the wicked!

"We did a signing session at Scrape Records before the show and picked up some CDs and DVDs afterwards. Thanks to JJ and his crew from Scrape Records for taking care of us and being such nice people!! I love independent metal stores like these… Keeping the metal spirit alive!

"Vancouver rocked our socks off. Packed and sweaty — that's how we love it! I am very sorry for not hanging out after this show, but I was soaked in sweat and it's freezing cold in Canada already. Coming all the way from L.A. was a bit of a shock to the system and catching a cold is quite likely then. We also had another long drive ahead of us to Edmonton the next day.

"I found it rather amusing having a female fan knocking on our bus before the show, pointing out that she hadn't met me yet (I didn't know she had booked an exclusive meeting with me?!) and asking why we arrived so late. I don't think she was aware of our touring and driving schedule. We literally fell out of the bus for sound check, checked into a dayroom for showers and just made it back in time to play the show — which was sold out and well worth the long ride!! This also goes for Calgary — a sold out venue, full of screaming kids and so hot and sweaty, that my shirt was literally dripping with sweat. I tossed it away (offstage!). No point throwing this into my laundry bag.

"Right after the show we packed our gear to be shipped back to the USA and Europe, tried to repack our travel bags, jumped into the shower and then made our way at 4am the same morning to the airport. We had to catch a 6.30 am flight to L.A./San Francisco, where we boarded another plane in the afternoon to Japan, Narita airport. I had a bit of a breakdown and cried a little due to exhaustion. It's tough when you don't sleep for days and travel instead. All the security checks and custom stops kinda make you feel like a criminal on top of it. And I have never managed to sleep sitting upright in seat. It makes me feel claustrophobic and my back and neck hurts
all the way.

"We got to Japan the 19th of October at 7pm and by 10 pm I crashed into my wonderful, fluffy, NOT rocking hotel bed and fell into a 12-hour coma. The best sleep I had for the past 6 weeks!

"We actually had a day OFF and some of us went to see HEAVEN AND HELL at the Loudpark festival. Mr. Ronnie James Dio is on fire and so is the rest of this legendary line-up! Absolutely amazing and no metal fan is allowed to miss it! Travel and spend all your live savings if you have to — just make sure you catch them live!!!"

"Our big day was October the 21st. Being a co-headliner for such a huge festival is mind-blowing. It comes with a price though: A dozen of interviews, IDs and three signing sessions later (with a mass hysteria unfolding when we tried to leave) we hit the stage at 7.35pm (exactly on the second, this is Japan!). I heard 8,000 people singing along with the lyrics, the melodies and the guitar solos. An ocean of arms in the air. ARCH ENEMY chants in between songs. If that would have been the last hour of my life — I would have died a happy woman!

"Right after the show we picked four songs from the recorded live footage that will air on MTV Japan later this month.

"The next day we headlined Loudpark Osaka 07 (great show as well!), other bands on the bill were SAXON and ANDRE MATOS.

"I love riding the bullet train watching the beautiful Japanese landscape and their towering cities fly by.

"Japan has always treated us with respect and love.

"A big thank you to the Creative Man crew...especially 'Magic' and Layli — these girls are the best!

"I am looking forward to coming back in the spring 2008 for a full headline tour!

"Domo Arigato, Japan!"

"Lobby call was at 7am this morning, to catch our flight to Bejing! We have just checked into the hotel and everybody in band and crew is taking it easy. So excited about tomorrow! We will play 'Revolution Begins' of course, ha-ha. According to the promoter, we are the first extreme metal band to play here. This is crazy.

"After tomorrow we will fly out to Australia to team up with the 'Black Crusade' tour in beautiful Perth, Australia!"

Confirmed dates so far are as follows:

Dec. 07 - Clifton Park, NY @ Northern Lights
Dec. 08 - Brooklyn, NY @ Club Europa
Dec. 09 - Sayreville, NJ @ Starland Ballroom

OBITUARY have tapped comic book stalwart and director Hart D. Fisher to helm the group's new video for the song "Evil Ways". "We're shooting in Florida, and I'm going to take this far further than just a bunch of assholes on stage playing their guitars," says Fisher. "They want to go dark, go mean, and take this all to the horror movie level. There's going to be cameos from a ton of death metal guys also."

"Evil Ways" is the lead single from OBITUARY's new album, "Xecutioner's Return", which was released in North America on August 28 via Candlelight Records. The CD was mixed at Redroom Recorders and was mastered in June at Morrisound Studios in Tampa. The band once again worked with artist Andreas Marschall, who has previously created the art for "The End Complete" and the group's last record, "Frozen in Time".

QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE: Video Interview With JOSH HOMME Available - Oct. 24, 2007
Chuck Stikl of Z104.5 The Edge conducted an interview with QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE frontman Josh Homme in August 2007 at the Cain's Ballroom in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Watch the three-minute clip below.

Josh Homme told Billboard.com last week that he is so happy with QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE's current lineup that he can't wait to get the group back into the studio to work on new material.

"The other night we were up 'til six in the morning, all of us playing guitar," Homme said of a roster that includes multi-instrumentalist Troy Van Leeuwen and drummer Joey Castillo, who joined in 2002, and new members bassist Michael Shuman (WIRES ON FIRE) and utility man Dean Fertita (THE RACONTEURS, THE WAXWINGS).

"QUEENS sounds better than it ever has live," Homme continued, "but we're trying to figure out how to tour and how to (write and record), 'cause I think for everyone right now the idea of creating something is even more enticing than going on the road. This lineup feels like we could basically blow through a whole record quick."

FEAR FACTORY, THREAT SIGNAL Members Need Name For New Project - Oct. 24, 2007
The new project featuring FEAR FACTORY members Christian Olde Wolbers (guitar) and Raymond Herrera (drums) alongside THREAT SIGNAL frontman Jon Howard is seeking fan submissions for a band name.

If you have any good ideas, contact Olde Wolbers via his MySpace page.

As BLABBERMOUTH.NET first reported on August 13, Olde Wolbers, Herrera and Howard are believed to be focusing on the new group while FEAR FACTORY frontman Burton C. Bell begins the promotional cycle for his ASCENSION OF THE WATCHERS project, which recently inked a deal with MINISTRY mainman Al Jourgensen's 13th Planet Records.

FEAR FACTORY previously announced plans to release another remix album, but recent activities suggest that those plans may since have been abandoned. A first taste of the proposed CD — a remixed version of the song "Supernova" (which appeared in its original form on the 2005 CD "Transgression") — was posted on the band's MySpace page but has since been removed.

FEAR FACTORY frontman frontman Burton C. Bell confirmed to the Edmonton Sun in December 2006 that the band has parted ways with Liquid 8 Records, the label that issued the group's last two albums — 2004's "Archetype" and 2005's "Transgression".

"Right now we're a completely independent band. We're free of labels and free of all sorts of things, so it's all about the music right now," said Bell.

Released in August 2005, "Transgression" was produced by Toby Wright (ALICE IN CHAINS, KORN, METALLICA).

Take A Video Tour Of VINCE NEIL's New West Palm Beach Bar - Oct. 24, 2007
According to PalmBeachPost.com, MÖTLEY CRÜE frontman Vince Neil walked into his new downtown West Palm Beach, Florida bar for the first time Tuesday afternoon and saw beyond the dust, countertop-devoid bars and the half-finished handpainted mural of famous album covers.

"Nice," he said. "This is gonna to be a very cool place!"

Neil, 46, currently touring solo, took advantage of an Orlando concert Thursday to stop by to see what’s scheduled to become Dr. Feelgood's when it opens shortly after Thanksgiving.

"I'm hoping to be able to do a show for the grand opening," said Neil, who's working on other Dr. Feelgood's clubs in Atlantic City and Vegas. "Maybe we can close the street and get rocking."

The old-style pharmacy-themed bar, named after CRÜE's 1999 hit album, will feature Neil memorabilia, some of his Harley-Davidsons and scantily-clad dancers.

It's the brainchild of local nightlife developers Cleve Mash and Rodney Mayo. Other investors include former Miami Dolphins tackle Todd Wade and former Florida Gator QB Bob Kewko.

It's Neil, however, who's become quite the entrepreneur. In addition to a tattoo parlor and a restaurant in his hometown of Las Vegas, the singer of "Girls, Girls, Girls" also runs a tequila company and a winery.

HIM Frontman Says He Was Beaten Up By His Ex-Girlfriend - Oct. 24, 2007
World Entertainment News Network reports that HIM frontman Ville Valo was almost forced to cancel his band's first major American tour after his ex-girlfriend beat him up.

The 30-year-old rocker was given a black eye by his former partner and suffered a burst ear drum at the hands of the unnamed woman.

He says, "She was a tough girl and she wasn't afraid to show it. She once punctured my ear-drum by screaming so loudly in my ear that it bled from the inside. If the hole in my ear had have been any bigger, I'd have had to go for surgery and our band would have missed their first major American tour.

"Violence is always pretty bad but it doesn't get any worse than being beaten up by a girl, does it?"

GLENN DANZIG Falls Off Stage At Baltimore Show? - Oct. 24, 2007
Bob Suehs of Rock N Roll Experience has submitted the following report to BLABBERMOUTH.NET:

"I covered the opening night of the DANZIG tour in Baltimore, MD on October 23, 2007 and among other interesting things that happened that night, it was the first official performance of Doyle's [former MISFITS axeman Doyle Von Frankenstein] GORGEOUS FRANKENSTEIN and their set was plagued with problems. And then during DANZIG's set, Glenn fell off the stage during 'How the Gods Kill' and I have a pic of him getting back onstage after the fall... Also, Glenn was in a bad mood after the fall — he cut the show short and he nixed the MISFITS set with Doyle and was yelling at Todd Youth [guitar] the rest of the night telling him to slow down his playing. The story I was told from a security guard was that Glenn dislocated his shoulder, but I can't confirm that. However, he was hurt badly because he did not meet fans after the show... he ran directly to the bus and didn't come out. Randy from LAMB OF GOD and the singer from GOD FORBID were in attendance at the show as well."

Read Bob's report from last night's show — and check out photos — at Rock N Roll Experience.

DANZIG's current tour is in support of "The Lost Tracks of Danzig", the two-CD set that was released May 29, as well as Glenn's limited-edition book "Drukija, Contessa of Blood", loosely based on the legend of 17th century vampire Countess Elizabeth Bathory, and illustrated by long time collaborator Simon Bisley.

Sony Legacy will reissue the following five DANZIG albums on November 13:

"Danzig" (1988)
"Danzig II: Lucifuge" (1990)
"Danzig III: How the Gods Kill" (1992)
"Thrall - DemonSweatLive" (1993)
"Danzig IV" (1994)

The reissues are not expected to include any bonus tracks or new material.

As previously reported, DANZIG will release "The Lost Tracks of Danzig" as a limited-edition two-disc LP in a gatefold sleeve with an eight-page booklet. The exact release date has not yet been announced.

"The Lost Tracks" is comprised of 26 previously unreleased tracks that span Danzig's entire career and were originally recorded during the band's seven-album "arc" that began with 1988's "Danzig".

GORGOROTH Guitarist INFERNUS: 'My Intention Is To Continue For Another 15 Years!' - Oct. 24, 2007
GORGOROTH guitarist Infernus — who is involved in a legal dispute with his estranged bandmates over the rights to the group's name (Story#1, Story#2, Story#3, Story#4) — has released the following statement to BLABBERMOUTH.NET:

"Today I have been denied access to the official MySpace profile of GORGOROTH. I am working on it as we speak, but I do not know how long it takes for the MySpace customer support team to deal with this.

"I have registrated a new statement from one or two of my former co-workers, and I will soon come with some more info on how I regard the situation and how it has developed, where I — without intending becoming too personal — will briefly present my plan for the continuation of GORGOROTH, possibly also with reference to some legal papers translated into English and with a photocopy of a document proving King's [bass] attempt to registrate the GORGOROTH name as his personal belonging behind my back in the beginning of last month. I will also elaborate upon the form in which the break-up happened, and show it was also my will to continue doing the upcoming tour first, then deal with the legal issues and the break-up later on, in an more appropriate way.

"For the more slowminded: Both parts want to continue under the name GORGOROTH. As the founder and only original member of the band, I claim the legal rights to the name. I am fully aware of that I can be a difficult person to work with, but it is my sincere opinion that to the degree this was a problem for the other two guys they should have withdrawn from the band and started something new, on their own. My intention is to continue for another 15 years!

"Again, I feel sorry for the friends, co-workers and fans all over the world that now have to withness such a happening taking place."

GORGOROTH recently entered Grieghallen Studios in Norway with producer Pytten (ENSLAVED, TRELLDOM) to begin work on a new live album, "Live in Grieghallen 2007".

GORGOROTH's video for the song "Carving a Giant" has been posted online at this location. The track comes off GORGOROTH's latest CD, "Ad Majorem Sathanas Gloriam", which was released last year via Sweden's Regain Records.

'Metal That Sounds Like Other Metal': 'Volume VI' And 'Volume VII' Posted Online - Oct. 24, 2007
A registered YouTube user who goes by the name "BakNBlack" has posted the sixth and seventh in a series of clips featuring hard rock/heavy metal tracks that sound like songs by other artists.

Says "BakNBlack": Y'ever hear a song and go, 'Man, that sounds just like...'? Well so did I. In fact, I found songs that not only sound like other songs, but they may as well practically BE those other songs!"

He added: "'Metal That Sounds Like Other Metal' is for ENTERTAINMENT PURPOSES ONLY. As a drummer in a rock band, and a songwriter, I make no claims about anyone 'ripping' anyone off; there's only eleven notes and only about fourteen keys that don't suck on guitar. This is 'Metal That SOUNDS Like Other Metal', not 'Metal Ripping Off Other Metal'."

"He combines speed and groove in a very unique way. The rehearsals are devastating so far and we can't wait for our first gig!"

NILE drummer George Kollias quit SICKENING HORROR in February 2007. He stated at the time, "We had some major problems the last year and I feel I want no longer play in this band, so I take off on this bad timing since I lose all the good stuff that supposed to follow after the release of our first full-length album. DARKANE's MALMSTRÖM Schedules Hometown 'Guitar Show' - Oct. 24, 2007
Guitarist Christofer Malmström of the Swedish thrashers DARKANE has issued the following update:

"This upcoming Thursday, October 25, I will hold a little guitar show in RumEtt at Dunkers Kulturhus in Helsingborg. I will play the guitar to backing tracks with songs from DARKANE, NON-HUMAN LEVEL and maybe something else. The event is arranged by Mega Musikgymnasium for their guitar students, but since the room is open to public anyone can attend, and there's no fee. So I suggest if you don't know what to do at 13:30 (1:30 pm) then join me for a moment of heavy metal guitar shredding!"

DARKANE recently announced the addition of Jens Broman (CONSTRUCDEAD, THE DEFACED) as the group's new lead vocalist.

According to Malmström, Jens — who will also continue to sing in CONSTRUCDEAD and THE DEFACED – "grew up in Glumslöv, south of Helsingborg (a good friend of Björn Strid from SOILWORK), but now lives in Stockholm. His live debut with us will take place in three weeks at the ProgPower Scandinavia festival in Copenhagen, Denmark on November 10.

"We've been rehearsing hard lately and are very excited to work together with Jens. He has a huge vocal diversity and we are pretty sure that DARKANE fans won't be disappointed.

"We had our interests set on Jens at a very early stage and would like to thank all the people who showed their interest in joining DARKANE as our vocalist. We wish you all the success in the future, and we’d also like to congratulate Peter [Wildoer, drummer] and [his longtime girlfriend] Erika for getting engaged a few weeks back."

DARKANE drummer Peter Wildoer revealed last month that the band would start recording its fifth record this winter. "We have about nine songs ready," he said. "We were hoping to enter the studio earlier but in typical DARKANE bad luck, our studio got flooded and badly damaged. So now we're looking for a new location for the studio and as soon as we find that we need to rebuild the studio which takes a lot of time. Hopefully we will start recording around Christmas (fingers crossed)."

DARKANE's upcoming DVD was shot in May 2006 in the band's hometown of Helsingborg, Sweden.

The band last year completed a European tour in support of their fourth album, "Layers of Lies", available now on Nuclear Blast Records. It is the follow-up to the band's third studio CD, "Expanding Senses", which was released in 2002.

IMMOLATION Guitarist On Upcoming Tour: 'Things Will Be A Little Different Each Show' - Oct. 24, 2007
Legendary death metal titans IMMOLATION kick off a massive a month-long North American tour this week with SUFFOCATION and SKINLESS, which marks their first stateside trek in three years. Returning with the same lineup as their previous release, "Harnessing Ruin", the group finds itself uncharacteristically stable, allowing for chemistry not present in their formative years. Founding members Ross Dolan (bass, vocals) and Robert Vigna (guitar) join Bill Taylor (guitar) and Steve Shalaty (drums) to form the group's most consistently punishing lineup yet.

Commented Vigna: "We are really looking forward to this SUFFOCATION tour. We haven't been out in the states for a while now and we can't wait! I think the lineup is really strong and the fact that it's composed off all NY bands is something special that the kids have been waiting for. All the bands have their own style, so it's going to be a great extreme show!

"We are going to try and fit in as much classic material, as well as new stuff into our set. With each album it gets harder and harder to get a set list together, but I think we chose some really good tunes for the tour. We have enough different tracks down to alternate from night to night, which is what we plan to do, so things will be a little different each show. Looking forward to seeing everyone out there and prepare for one intense night of extreme metal."
