AEROSMITH Comment On 'Rockin' The Joint' DualDisc Release
- Sep. 21, 2005
AEROSMITH guitarist Joe Perry and singer Steven Tyler have commented on the upcoming release of their new live DualDisc effort, "Rockin' the Joint (Live at the Hard Rock Hotel Las Vegas)". Recorded in January 2002 during an intimate club date at The Joint in the Las Vegas Hard Rock Hotel, "Rockin' the Joint" showcases prime AEROSMITH in rare performances of vintage album cuts and recent rock tunes in front of 3,000 hardcore fans. "Rockin' the Joint" will be in stores on Tuesday, October 25.
The audio-only side of "Rockin' the Joint" contains 11 tracks, including the live album debut of the fan favorite "Seasons of Wither" from 1974's "Get Your Wings", "No More No More", a seldom-played album track from 1975's "Toys in the Attic", and a cover of the FLEETWOOD MAC chestnut "Rattlesnake Shake", one of the first songs the band ever played together and a staple of early tours. Also included are the live debuts of "Beyond Beautiful" and "Light Inside" from 2001's "Just Push Play" and "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing", the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame inductees' first mega-hit that went to No. 1.
"'Seasons of Wither' is one of my all-time favorite AEROSMITH songs, but we never used to play it live in the old days," recalled Steven Tyler. "Over the years, it's really become an Aerocult favorite and always gets a major reaction on the rare occasion we drop it into the set list. It means a lot to me to finally give fans a killer live version of this song."
"We went back to the beginning of the band's career for some of these songs," said guitarist Joe Perry. "We had fun knocking the dust off them but it was a little nerve-racking too, because we hadn't played some of the songs in a while. I think we've only played 'No More No More' live a total of 20 times in our entire career. We were going on muscle memory for some of these, which gave our performance an edge."
New live versions of songs available on previous live albums include "Same Old Song And Dance", which first appeared on 1978's "Live Bootleg", "Big Ten Inch Record", last heard live on AEROSMITH's 1991 career compilation "Pandora's Box", plus inspired new versions of "Train Kept A Rollin'" and "Walk This Way".
The DVD side of "Rockin' the Joint" boasts the entire album in Enhanced PCM Stereo along with four explosive performances filmed at The Joint, including "No More No More" and "Draw the Line", plus the DVD-only tracks, "Dream On" and "Sweet Emotion". The DVD also captures some behind-the-scenes footage shot during the Vegas show and on the road during AEROSMITH's triumphant "Just Push Play" tour.
The band plans to return to the studio this spring to record the follow-up to 2004's critically acclaimed and commercially successful blues album, "Honkin' on Bobo".

Los Angeles hardcore soldiers TERROR will bring their old-school assault to Canada and across the U.S. this fall. The band will be part of Canadian "Aggressive Tendencies" tour with chaos-core pioneers CONVERGE and politico-crust giants CURSED. The tour will be sponsored by Exclaim, Canada's leading music monthly. Following that run will be a welcome home to the U.S. with metal-core combos BURY YOUR DEAD and SCARS OF TOMORROW. Currently the band is in Los Angeles with acclaimed indie director Constantin Werner filming a video for the song "Keep Your Mouth Shut".

This was the band's second foray into that country (a live set from their first time in Tokyo appears on the band's latest release, "Lowest of the Low"). That album, released on Trustkill, contains the band's first EP, as well as the live set and early 7" material.
TERROR formed when frontman Scott Vogel moved to California and hooked up with West Coast hardcore veterans to bring back the fun and fury of old school pit anthems. With regards to his upcoming solo album, Lynch said, "I have about 8 or 9 new tracks pretty much completed for the new forthcoming record. Mucho guitar noise! It's heavy, bluesy, psychedelic and trance-like. Indefinable stream of consciousness."
On the equipment front, "Design and development of the new Randall amp line is almost complete and the amps sound ridicolous," Lynch said. "There are four preamp modules, and power amp main head, called The Lynch Box. There is also an awesome 4 x 12 with some really cool retro and modern features. There will also be a point-to-point hand-wired head. This should all be finished and available by winter NAMM in Anaheim, California. We are developing a new pickup with Duncan clalled the Super V, which will initially be available only on the new ESP Brahma Super V guitar, also coming out in January at NAMM."

In a recent interview with Launch Radio Networks, SLIPKNOT drummer Joey Jordison said that the band is working hard to make the "9.0: Live" CD/DVD package more than just a time-filler between studio albums. "I'm not a big fan of live records, but the way we're putting this together, it's gonna be almost like buying another SLIPKNOT record," he said. "We're really gonna package it and make it a special piece. And, you know, we'll have a live video to go along with it and everything, so I'm looking forward to that as well."
As previously reported, SLIPKNOT will be the featured guests on the nationally syndicated radio show "Rockline" airing Monday, October 10. The live show begins at 8:30 p.m. PT / 11:30 p.m. ET, and fans are encouraged to call in with questions during the program at (800) 344-ROCK (7625). SLIPKNOT will mount the "Subliminal Verses Tour: The Final Volume" in October/November to wrap up the touring cycle on the band's current, critically acclaimed album, "Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses)", which has sold 1.2 million copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Support at all dates will come from AS I LAY DYING and UNEARTH.

SYSTEM OF A DOWN: 'Hypnotize' Track Listing Revealed
- Sep. 21, 2005
Six months after SYSTEM OF A DOWN's "Mezmerize" debuted at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 chart, the uncompromising and outspoken quartet returns with "Hypnotize", part two of a promised two-album set. American Recordings/Columbia will release two versions of "Hypnotize", the band's fifth studio album, on November 22.
Both the CD and DualDisc versions feature 12 new songs as well as artwork by Vartan Malakian, father of SYSTEM OF A DOWN's guitarist/singer Daron. The packaging for "Hypnotize" is specially designed to physically join "Mezmerize" and "Hypnotize" together, forming one unified product with continuous artwork. Additionally, the DualDisc edition will contain exclusive behind-the-scenes footage showing the making of both records.
More importantly, the albums interlock musically. The final track on "Hypnotize", "Soldier Side", completes "Soldier Side Intro", which appears as the opening track on "Mezmerize".

SATYRICON To Enter Studio In October
- Sep. 21, 2005
Norwegian black metallers SATYRICON have posted the following message on their official web site:
"Sorry for not keeping touch lately, but we've been busy working! We are in middle of pre-production for our new album and we will start recording October 17th in Puk Studio in Denmark where we did most of 'Volcano'. We aim to finish the album in January followed by a late spring release. This means we should be ready to do a big festival run throughout the summer and hit the clubs in the fall. Things change and they can change fast too in this industry, but this is what we plan to do as it looks now. We'll keep you posted about this and other projects we are working on too, throughout the fall."
SATYRICON's North American tour was cut short last December after guitarists Steinar Gundersen and Arnt Gronbech were charged with giving a fan a date-rape drug and sexually assaulting her in a tour bus following a Dec. 15, 2004 concert in Toronto.
SATYRICON were about two-thirds through a North American "Return of the Antichrist Tour" in support of the U.S. release of their 2002 CD "Volcano", a chart-topping, award-winning album in Norway. It has been released in North America on the EatURmusic imprint headed up by SYSTEM OF A DOWN guitarist Daron Malakian and distributed by Columbia, a division of Sony Music.

RIGOR MORTIS: More Tour Dates Announced
- Sep. 21, 2005
Bassist Casey Orr (GWAR, X-COPS, THE HELLIONS, THE BURDEN BROTHERS) of the reunited Texas thrashers RIGOR MORTIS has sent the following update to BLABBERMOUTH.NET:
"RIGOR MORTIS is extending our tour. We have added a show on November 4th at The North 6 in New York City and will announce several more dates soon. In other news, we will be participating in the Texas Frightmare Weekend February 4th and 5th. We will be playing both nights. Also, you can catch Casey Orr, Bruce Corbitt and Harden Harrison from RIGOR MORTIS on Dallas' KNON 89.3 Hard Time Radio with Thrashin' Alan at 9:00 this Thursday night, September 22nd at 9:00 p.m. central. You can hear it online at www.knon.org. Joining us will be Rick Perry of GAMMACIDE and Steve Murphy from ROTTING CORPSE. Last but certainly not least, we'd like to congratulate Mike Scaccia and his girlfriend Jenny Rowan on the recent birth of their son Ryder James Rowan Scaccia. We hope he inherits his mother's looks and his father's fingers!"
The original RIGOR MORTIS lineup of Orr, Bruce Corbitt, Mike Scaccia (MINISTRY, REVOLTING COCKS), and Harden Harrison (PERVIS, SPEEDEALER, MITRA) recently announced their first shows together in 15 years. The "Re-Animate" tour starts with a handful of Texas dates in October, with tentative plans to continue after the first of the year followed by a new album.
In a recent interview with Trend Crusher 'zine, RIGOR MORTIS vocalist Bruce Corbitt spoke further about the group's reunion tour and plans for a possible new CD.
"We all are getting along great and all of us are excited about doing this tour together," he said. "We are also doing one of these shows with two other Dallas/Ft. Worth legendary thrash bands from our same area and era. Our old-school metal brothers ROTTING CORPSE and GAMMACIDE are also doing reunions this year. For the first time ever…Dallas/Ft. Worth's first three original thrash bands will all perform at the same show. Mark it down right fucking now… October 29th 2005… will be a historic night for Dallas/Ft. Worth and Texas metal.
"Anyway, if this tour goes well there is a chance it could lead to more. Like a possible new RIGOR CD and a possible bigger tour sometime in early 2006. Hopefully some label will be interested in us with this lineup. But, we are really going to take all of this one step at a time. We will have to find out if we still have the chemistry jamming together live on stage that we used to have. We will also find out if we get a good turnout and response from people at the shows and if there seems to be interest in RIGOR MORTIS from the metal world again. Of course we will have to see if we can get along and not beat the shit out of each other… [laughs]"
