RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE's MORELLO To Release New Solo Album - June 30, 2008
Tom Morello of RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE will release his new solo album, "The Fabled City", on September 30, 2008 via Epic Records. The 11-song set is the follow-up to the 2007 THE NIGHTWATCHMAN debut "One Man Revolution". Now being billed as TOM MORELLO: THE NIGHTWATCHMAN, Morello's new CD is the first release to bear the political and social activist's birth name. "The Fabled City" was produced by Brendan O'Brien (BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN, PEARL JAM) and features appearances by SYSTEM OF A DOWN's Serj Tankian and Shooter Jennings.

Widely known for his unique voice as a master electric guitarist, Morello's compositions as TOM MORELLO: THE NIGHTWATCHMAN have been primarily based around the acoustic guitar. However, as his MySpace page firmly states, "You don't have to be loud, son, to be heavy as shit," and the stories and sounds presented throughout the album showcases a depth and intelligence rarely heard in the modern musical climate surrounding it. With more complex electric arrangements than displayed on "One Man Revolution", "The Fabled City" is the synthesis of his groundbreaking work as an innovative rock guitarist and revolutionary acoustic troubadour.

When describing "The Fabled City", Morello stated, "My goal was to capture the energy and emotion of THE NIGHTWATCHMAN live shows. There is a much more rocking quality to this record, solos and riffs, mixed with darker acoustic songs. I think my singing has come a long way as well. I had a lot of devastating losses of family and friends during the past two years and 'The Fabled City' is a search for hope through music and confronting injustice."

TOM MORELLO: THE NIGHTWATCHMAN will be touring heavily throughout 2008 and 2009 in support of "The Fabled City".

"The Fabled City" track listing:

01. The Fabled City
02. Whatever It Takes
03. The King of Hell
04. Night Falls
05. The Lights Are On In Spidertown
06. Midnight In The City of Destruction
07. Saint Isabelle
08. Lazarus On Down (feat. Serj Tankian)
09. Gone Like Rain
10. The Iron Wheel (feat. Shooter Jennings)
11. Rise to Power

Although it does nothing for me.

Instead, it is about this hypocritical idiot. Climb off your soapbox, make music, and save your "views" for yourself.

First one was ok I guess. Wish he'd go back to his RATM style, when he was actually innovative and original. This accoustic stuff is just him trying to be Johnny Cash and Bob Dylan.

Tom - get the boys in RATM, do a huge summer tour playing mid-size venues, and all things will be right with the world.

Please and Thank you.

I didn't care much for his first solo album, I thought it was just extremely boring. Maybe I just expected something more in the vein of RATM or Audioslave, but even if it had been my introduction to the works of Morello, I think I would still find it dull. I still have huge respect for him as a musician, though...

Naw, I like it the way it his ... but Morello doesn't. He uses a pulpit he earned as a MUSICIAN to spout his version of the truth ... not anything he earned in public service or anything like that.

In short, I didn't say the Government should make this moron shut up (i.e. Dictatorship), I simply stated that I find his views extremely stupid and he should go back to what he does for a living. Everyone has a right to speak, but everyone has a right to disagree with what is coming out.

"Everyone has a right to speak, but everyone has a right to disagree with what is coming out."

That's what I'm saying MANNNNNNNNNNNN! You just sounded a lot dumber in your first post, but I give you credit for your second post, you actually don't sound like a brainwashed idiot in that one. When it comes to politics I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree. And yes, O & A do kick ass and Ron and Fez Noon to 3!

Brutal. Mmmmaaaaaannnn.

Funny, that quote is to attack idiots LIKE Morello.

How I sound dumber is interesting, however, from the fellow who attacked me about Free Speech ... when my post had nothing to do with Free Speech. I just wanted one moron to stop preaching like he gives a shit, and concentrate on his Day Job.

Anyway, take care.

I AM the same guy who attacked you over your first post. You said in your first post "save your "views" for yourself". That DOES have something to do with free speech! I think EVERYONE should express their opinions (hopefully informed ones, although let's face it, most people are uninformed morons) whenever the fuck they want to, that's what Democracy is all about! Musicians are lucky enough to get a bigger platform to express their opinions than the rest of us regular jagoffs so they should use it! I disagree with the notion that just because you're an entertainer you shouldn't express your personal beliefs. You can either agree with them or not, but you should be all for their right to say it. I think Anthony sounds like a dumbass (although a funny one) when he uses that condescending MANNNNNNNNN thing, because a lot of times the hippy douches he's making fun of are right! They may be hippy douches (and should be made fun of because of that), but the facts are the facts! But you're a Pest so at least we got that in common! Later!

This blog page was was supposed to be about Tom Morello, but instead became a nonsensiclal rant about free speech. You cant go on and on about the fundamentals of free speech and tell someone to shut up in the same sentence. By the way I havent heard Morello's new stuff, but he is a great musican and deserves a little more respect. RATM was great and will hard to out do.
