It's Official: AMON AMARTH Added To SLAYER's 'The Unholy Alliance: Chapter III' European Tour - July 2, 2008
As BLABBERMOUTH.NET first reported on June 30, Swedish Viking metallers AMON AMARTH have now been officially added to "The Unholy Alliance: Chapter III" tour alongside the previously announced bands SLAYER, TRIVIUM and MASTODON. AMON AMARTH will play after MASTODON and before TRIVIUM and SLAYER in Germany and Sweden. AMON AMARTH will play before MASTODON in all other territories.

Commented AMON AMARTH frontman Johan Hegg: "All of us have been huge fans of SLAYER since the mid-'80s, and to be able to tour with this legendary thrash band is a dream come true. We are very proud and honored to be a part of this year's Unholy Alliance together with TRIVIUM and MASTODON. SLAYER fans are die-hard and tough as true Vikings — we know as we are part of the same crowd — and it will be a great experience to be able to play in front of them."

So far the following dates have been announced for the tour:

Oct. 27 - Manchester, England - Manchester Arena
Oct. 28 - Birmingham, England - NEC
Oct. 30 - London, England - Hammersmith Apollo

AMON AMARTH has set "Twilight of the Thunder God" as the title of its seventh full-length album, due in Europe on September 22 via Metal Blade Records (September 19 in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Italy). The CD title was revealed by AMON AMARTH frontman Johan Hegg during an interview with the "Tinitus" radio show, which airs on Norway's P3.

"Twilight of the Thunder God" was recorded at Fascination Street Studio in Örebro, Sweden and will include such songtitles as "Guardians of Asgaard", "Live for the Kill" and "Tattered Banners and Bloody Flags".

AMON AMARTH will play four shows at Zeche in Bochum, Germany in late December under the banner "Bloodshed Over Bochum". The band will play one of the first four albums in its entirety each night along with a "best-of" mix from "Fate Of Norns" (2004), "With Oden On Our Side" (2006) and the upcoming album.

The details are as follows:

Dec. 28 - "Once Sent From The Golden Hall" (1998)
Dec. 29 - "The Avenger" (1999)

As previously reported, AMON AMARTH will embark on a North American headlining tour in October. Support on the trek will come from the Tampa melodic trash outfit THE ABSENCE.

that Trivium must be endured in between Mastodon & Slayer. How about Amon Amarth gets direct support. Now there is a band that worth seeing.

The tour would be better without Trivium. Just Slayer and Amon Amarth would be the best tour.

Trivium are there because they are a huge band in Europe. Fact. Deal with it.

Great tour - something for everyone.

slayer are one of the best metal bands ever despite their lack of amazing albums since Divine Intervention. I like the others but don't love them like I do everything up through DI.

Mastodon are extremely talented. I dig them. However, Slayer puts on the bet metal live show that I've ever seen. I'm talking pure metal though. They've blown me away live since 1988.

I don't know Amon Amarth that well and would like to hear them. I've heard great things. IF they are real good, I really oughta make it to this show because I always loved Slayer and dig Mastodon too.

Amon Amarth are boring D:
Generic riffs along with boring drumming and some washed out viking themes. I was yawning my way through their set at Tuska festival.

This tour would be fucking great with only Slayer and Mastodon. Period.

Amon Amarth's last CD was pure goodness (godness) BTW
if compared to their back catalogue, but that's only my opinion. I know they're a bit repetitive but I bought the triple DVD show and it's just fucking cool all the way, all the way!
