Even more fast greenbacks for $immons/$tanley inc. These guys are at their best when it comes to milking something into oblivion.
Of course this cd isn't necessary, nor does it have any redeeming value whatsoever. Its just another insult to Ace, Peter and the fans.

It's not like these songs have EVER been on a KI$$ compilation before! (Sarcasm mode turned off).
Even though we heard the songs MILLIONS of times before, at least with the KISSOLOGY DVDs, we got to see the performances. A greatest hits package??? I know Gene likes to think that fans downloading music killed the industry, but re-releasing the same music a million times is what killed KI$$.
Mind you, this is coming from a HUGE KISS fan. I buy their MUSIC, not their merchandise. The last CD I bought was Psycho Circus (IMHO, it was decent -- they just tried to re-create DESTROYER, so formulaic it should've been called STERILE).
I didn't waste my time with Gene's solo album -- instead of "A$$hole", it should've been called "$ucked." Paul Stanley's solo album was good, but I only bought select songs from iTunes.
Since Gene spouts his theory of what killed the record industry (fans downloading music), I'll spout my theory too: Bands recording a CD filled with 2 "radio hits" and the rest of "fillers" while charging "fans" $20 for 12 songs. Illegal downloading was the "Boston Tea Party" -- fans got tired of supporting their favorite bands only to receive crap.
iTunes and other "pay for tracks" sites should be a wake up call for bands: You give us GOOD music, we WILL pay for it. You give us crap, and you only have yourself to blame.
Sorry Gene, but I know the laws of "intellectual property" -- since I own the tape/CD -- I DO have the right to transfer that medium to my hard drive (I just can't share it). I obey the law & have been a KISS fan (not a KI$$ Fan). You DID screw up: KISS' music inspired many of us to think for ourselves & not be sheep. I'm one of them. Just because KISS re-releases music, doesn't mean I'll buy it. I'd also rather be buried in a cardboard box before I buy a KI$$ Koffin.
That's a REAL KISS fan -- someone who got their message loud & clear: be an independant thinker.
I transfered my ALIVE tape to my hard drive & the sad fact is, it sounds better on my iPod than their "REMASTERED" crap.
Yes Gene, you are a smart businessman when it comes to KI$$. Hell, your stint on THE APPRENTICE shows you get the gist of marketing. Unfortunately, you seem to think your fans are so guillable that they'll buy whatever you put out.
You wrote a song for Psycho Circus titled, "You Wanted the Best" and you claimed, "we hear and we obey." Does re-releasing material on compilations the fans have heard millions of times over count as "hearing & obeying?" Out of the pages that I've read regarding KISS on Blabbermouth, it seems that what the REAL KISS fans want is NEW music.
Thanks to Bush's economy, the KISS Fans can't afford to spend foolishly on re-released material. Seriously, how much further could a KI$$ Army fan get by forgoing a "re-mastered" version of "DEUCE" and putting that money into his car for gasoline?
I get it Gene -- this album helps put gasoline in your Escalade. But speaking from a guy who drives a Blazer, I can't worry about allowing you to put Premium gasoline into your luxury SUV while I'm struggling to put Regular gasoline into my "standard" SUV.
Ironic that this compilation comes out when gas prices are at an all time high, no?
Think about it.

The last "Best Of" compilation was "Greatest KISS" which came out 96 or 97?. Fuck them. I WILL buy live DVDs, just cause i love seeing live concerts of all bands from all eras, but geatest hits albums are the most pointless fucking things bands can put out after they have already done ONE!!!! I see the point in having one, but not more best ofs than actual studio albums. kiss MY ass!!!!

i like the tracklisting. For your information even Aerosmith are re recording songs for their new material. I know they have released new material, but hookin on bobo wasn't a great album infect it wasn't their own material they covered old songs from different musicians.

These days I try to stay away from posting about Kiss coz it's just too depressing: this band have been such a huge part of my life and I hate what they've become. But just wanted to say you've both articulated (in, uh, slightly different ways!) exactly what I feel
As for Aerosmith, I thought their re-recording was for the Guitar Hero game. Could be wrong... I know there's a whole 'Smith industry in best-ofs (a new one every 18 months it seems), but at least a)they do put new albums too, b)it's not Steven & Joe and a bunch of lackeys and c)they're as good as ever live (and I know Kiss got good reviews for Download but I felt embarrassed watching fat old men in makeup when I last saw Kiss around 1999 so god knows what it's like now)
Have a good weekend y'all

I don't like the idea of Kiss re-recording the old stuff, especially without Ace or Peter. If they had to do it, i don't get it why they do new versions of Detroit Rock City, I was made for loving you, songs that really had stod the test of time. Especially with the production in mind. If they had to do it, why not just re-record stuff from the first 3 albums, albums that had a poor production compared to the albums that came after.

But...but...I thought the record industry is dead? Why are they releasing a record...I mean, if the industry is dead....?
I can fully understand that the band is a show revue (now) - a mighty good show it is too, but this is taking the whole thing to a level of utter shit.
Anyways, since the record industry is not dead after all, why not release some new stuff...hmmmm?

KISS had (has) great tunes and a great message.
I'm 42 and still listen to KISS and dont give a crap what people think. I am a successful advertising executive and KISS is what inspired me. I remember Howard Marks was there big promotion and design firm in the day.
Sure they're getting older and aren't doing much new. But they do tour and they do come out with some stuff that fans love such as Kissology.
I bought the huge KISS box set years ago- so I'm pretty much set on comps-anyway record companies usually dictate that stuff. I wouldn't mind hearing the new re-records but I doubt I will buy it-maybe if i stumble on it in a bin.
As far as Gene making money-more power to him-he doesn't hold a gun to anyones head. He's living the american dream and recognizes that-he supports plenty of organizations and causes-as does Paul.
I don't see any connection with the "bush economy" and gas prices to KISS- If you can't afford gas or a comp record-get off this board and work. If you can type a message on here -you can make money.
I quit a high paying job to start a business. After about 8 months a client left me hanging on several invoices for a long-term project. I thought I was going to lose everything. But I worked hard and was offered a position that is better than the one I left. I don't bitch about gas prices or the Bush economy (actually the Democrat congress is more a reason if you are looking for one) because I am responsible for me. Bush or any other president doesn't make me poor or rich-what I do or lack of doing does. It can be the worst economy ever and you can still become successful, wealthy, happy-(what ever you want to call it) in this country. It is the best country in the world and we need to work at keeping it that way-not become some socialist welfare state like europe is turning into.
Bottomline-KISS taught me this-kiss taught me to follow my dreams no matter what- I didnt finish college, I had a talent and I worked hard and it paid off. Bitching gets you no where-so why do it? Why take time to post negative things about a band you do not like-use that time to deliver pizzas, landscape a yard-mow a lawn-walk a dog-plant a tree-volunteer on a political campaign-screw your wife or girlfriend. Be productive.
I am flying down to Tahoe with my 2 kids and meeting my brother to see KISS in August. Yes-I will give my hard-earned money to KISS, American Airlines, and someone at the poker table at the casino-- and I will have a blast and have some great memories with my kids.
Rock on.

I love ace an everything but KISS paid Ace (when he QUIT the first time) as a quarter member up to three albums after he left. How is that screwing him.
Paul kept the band going in the eighties-otherwise there would be no KISS-and no reunion tour to make ace and peter multi-millionaires again.
If Ace can stay sober he will rejoin KISS for one last tour.
Then I predict eventually Simmon's and Stanley's sons-both whom play guitar will take over. That way they will have some credibilty.
Rock on (your way)

The worst part of this is, this CD was supposed to be given away with the Mail On Sunday in th UK "sometime around their Download appearance".
It never happened and Mail On Sunday wouldn't confirm or deny if a deal was being negotiated with KISS.
I hope they still do it and give the CD away. That's all it's really worth!

I have followed KISS through everything, whether it be their music, their films, Live shows (seen them 38 times) TV spots, DVDs and everything else you can imagine...I have a collection of KISS merch dated back to the beginning (appraised at just over $47,000)... Believe me when I say that I have been and am a HUGE KISS fan (or these days, maybe I should say a HUGE KISS FOOL).
...After all that, I agree with every comment that I've read regarding the release of yet, another greatest hits compilation CD that a) is not really a package of their greatest songs (we all know that) and b) is simply a re-hash of the same songs released in other KISS compilations, regardless of who is playing on them (FYI - there's alot more of them than just "Greatest KISS")
So if the opinion of (what I think I am) one of the biggest KISS fans EVER counts for anything, then Gene and Paul....hear this...
I haven't purchased or listened to this KISSology re-recording compilation yet....But I DO have it downloading to my Computer right now for free from a BitTorrent site....Someone above said, "if you release GOOD music, we WILL buy it...". That is the absolute truth so KISS (and I know you're not listening...you haven't been listening to your fans for quite some time now), keep those money grab compilations coming...Your Fans have huge hard drives on their computers and are just itching to download the latest and greatest for free...
I HATE that I have been reduced to actually bashing my idols...my heroes...But in my opinion, your tenure in Rock and Roll ended when you announced the "Farewell Tour". That was the pinnacle of a career that will last in the hearts of millions through positive influence and "best in class" performances...Your time to solidify your place as the Greatest EVER was then....Since the Farewell Tour, you have milked your loyal fans for every last penny in their pocket and at the same time, confirmed for us all, that it has been and always will be about how many dollars you can strategically influence us to spend on you... At the end of the day, the question has to be asked...Who are the morons? Kiss for putting out the same crap or the fans for continuously buying it...I'm afraid to say that I am as guilty for it as the next fan...Not anymore...
You wanted the Best, You got the best!! You just have to pay for it...and these days, it'll cost ya...
Well, that's my rant....I can do nothing at this point but laugh...
