"Kiss Best - Kissology" is scheduled for a release in Japan on August 27, 2008 via DefSTAR Records, a subsidiary of Sony Music Japan. The limited-edition version of the CD — which will feature the re-recorded versions of the band's classics completed with the group's current lineup (including guitarist Tommy Thayer and drummer Eric Singer) — will also contain a bonus DVD featuring footage of KISS' April 2, 1977 concert at Budokan (taken from "Kissology Vol. 1") plus a bonus sticker. The DVDs are region-2 encoded (Japan, Europe, and Middle East), and carry no subtitles.

To pre-order this collection, visit CDJapan.co.jp.

KISS has scheduled a handful of U.S. performances in August. In honor of its 35th anniversary, the quartet will perform the "Kiss Alive!" album in its entirety, as well as some rarely played classics, according to a press release.

Aug. 29 - Las Vegas, NV - Pearl Concert Theater at Palms Casino Resort
Aug. 30 - Stateline, NV - Harvey's Outdoor Arena at Lake Tahoe
Aug. 31 - Kelseyville, CA - Konocti Harbor Amphitheatre

not only a slap in the face to Ace, Peter, KISS ARMY, but also to Eric Carr. Might as well include Bruce as well.

Better off seeing KISS Tribute Mr. Speed.

Even more fast greenbacks for $immons/$tanley inc. These guys are at their best when it comes to milking something into oblivion.

Of course this cd isn't necessary, nor does it have any redeeming value whatsoever. Its just another insult to Ace, Peter and the fans.

I wouldn't touch it with a 100 ft. pole...

The last "Best Of" compilation was "Greatest KISS" which came out 96 or 97?. Fuck them. I WILL buy live DVDs, just cause i love seeing live concerts of all bands from all eras, but geatest hits albums are the most pointless fucking things bands can put out after they have already done ONE!!!! I see the point in having one, but not more best ofs than actual studio albums. kiss MY ass!!!!

i like the tracklisting.
For your information even Aerosmith are re recording songs for their new material. I know they have released new material, but hookin on bobo wasn't a great album infect it wasn't their own material they covered old songs from different musicians.

seriously......how can you defend this?
it's complete bullshit.

you can't compare honkin' on bobo with this........even though that album was lame.

if aerosmith are re-recording their older stuff i don't want any part of it.

why fuck with the past? have we learned nothing?

I don't agree with this idea of re recording songs. For me its a waste of time and money. But that doesn't mean I m going to hate them for this idea. The next thing i want from kiss is a new material.

These days I try to stay away from posting about Kiss coz it's just too depressing: this band have been such a huge part of my life and I hate what they've become. But just wanted to say you've both articulated (in, uh, slightly different ways!) exactly what I feel

As for Aerosmith, I thought their re-recording was for the Guitar Hero game. Could be wrong... I know there's a whole 'Smith industry in best-ofs (a new one every 18 months it seems), but at least a)they do put new albums too, b)it's not Steven & Joe and a bunch of lackeys and c)they're as good as ever live (and I know Kiss got good reviews for Download but I felt embarrassed watching fat old men in makeup when I last saw Kiss around 1999 so god knows what it's like now)

Have a good weekend y'all

I'd have no problem with this release if they would only release a new cd of new material like bands like Motorhead, Aerosmith and Alice Cooper etc...

I don't like the idea of Kiss re-recording the old stuff, especially without Ace or Peter. If they had to do it, i don't get it why they do new versions of Detroit Rock City, I was made for loving you, songs that really had stod the test of time. Especially with the production in mind. If they had to do it, why not just re-record stuff from the first 3 albums, albums that had a poor production compared to the albums that came after.

But...but...I thought the record industry is dead? Why are they releasing a record...I mean, if the industry is dead....?

I can fully understand that the band is a show revue (now) - a mighty good show it is too, but this is taking the whole thing to a level of utter shit.

Anyways, since the record industry is not dead after all, why not release some new stuff...hmmmm?

you had a good post until you brought politics into it. FYI: The economy is much worse now that we have a democratic controlled congress. But you choose to blame Bush. The U.S economy recovered nicely after 9/11, and again after Katrina as well. Its your liberal idiots in congress that deserve more of the blame...Did you want to talk about KISS, or what?

I love ace an everything but KISS paid Ace (when he QUIT the first time) as a quarter member up to three albums after he left. How is that screwing him.

Paul kept the band going in the eighties-otherwise there would be no KISS-and no reunion tour to make ace and peter multi-millionaires again.

If Ace can stay sober he will rejoin KISS for one last tour.

Then I predict eventually Simmon's and Stanley's sons-both whom play guitar will take over. That way they will have some credibilty.

Rock on (your way)

I never got into Cooper-maybe a little before my time.
I see the influence he had on KISS and he makes cracks about it all the time.
He's fun to listen to on those VH1 classic shows. He's got his act together.
Will he be taking Singer back on drums?

Thanks PETEcast-
I normally just read and don't post much but i think the misinformation and political "talking points" got to me.

The worst part of this is, this CD was supposed to be given away with the Mail On Sunday in th UK "sometime around their Download appearance".

It never happened and Mail On Sunday wouldn't confirm or deny if a deal was being negotiated with KISS.

I hope they still do it and give the CD away. That's all it's really worth!
