THE DAY I VANISHED Bassist Partially Blinded After 'Headbanging Too Much'

According to Scotsman.com, the bass player for the Edinburgh, United Kingdom-based "emo-esque metal" band THE DAY I VANISHED ( MySpace page) has gone partially blind after headbanging too much at a gig. Richard Allan, 21, felt his eyesight go blurry after his show on Friday night and assumed he had been dazzled by stage lights. But the bass player had actually torn his retina as he jumped around the stage to his band's tunes. Now Allan faces emergency surgery and the possibility of wearing an eye patch. He said: "I guess I do go a bit mental at gigs, we all leap about the place and headbang because we love our music, but I never thought it would make me start to go blind. I was at the bar after the gig and noticed things were blurry, and thought I'd maybe been looking at a light for too long. At hospital the next day they said I'd need an operation, which is a massive shock as I've never had a proper operation before. But I'm made of tough enough stuff to get through it." get a grip! whats the the bets the lot of you are sad twats with no life other than hiding behind your internet stories and rocking out to SHIT hardcore bands with not any form of intectual thoughts running through your brains....AND more than likely in RANCID hardcore bands that barely even make it worth playing at a gig due to the lack of crowds you can pull in!

I agree with alex and emii.
Why come on to a fourum and say nasty shit about someone just because of what style of music he plays or a fuckin band name. This is another human being. One person said on this "he deserved to be blind, what else can you except when playing this emo-shit?." Okay now lets us put you in his shoes, your now blind in one eye, but you deserve it because your an asshole.
My point being that nomatter what the hell you play, no matter who you are nothing like this should be deserved. Its people like that that makes me angry. Take a listen, come to a show, talk to the band before you judge the band. But don't come on here and mouth off about someting you have little idea about.

Realy pissed about this. I know the band well. Its a bit unfair to actualy put them into a genre as they combine a lot of genres together to produce something i must say is original. Alot of people that have been negative about this (95%) i think are stuck to like one genre only. I think it may be a disease called Monogenre and to hate another person for what they belive in is very petty and shows that your are heartless, imature and you need to grow up and open your mind.

Im too old for this site but Id like to thank some of the people on this thread for their comments.
Id also like to ask some of the others to have a think about what you say, and I mean have a real think.
He's had his operation, he's gagging on getting started again, he's bored at home so much so he's doing my nut in, and I really hope he, and the other lads in the band, achieve what they have set out to do.

I am apologising for the swearing i wrote. And if it offended anyone one i am sorry. However you can't balme me much, as i was in a state of mind i am never usualy in. Nothing pisses me off more than some wize ass people that think its funny to make fun of someone because of what they wear, what music they play and listen to, where they live etc. It shows how petty some people are to say something horrible about someone. If the rolls where reversed would it be fun?? I don't think it would.
On another note, i hope to see The day i vanished again soon. I know you will own the place where ever you go.
