Former KORN Guitarist BRIAN 'HEAD' WELCH: New Video Interview Available - July 8, 2008
Former KORN guitarist Brian "Head" Welch was one of the guest speakers at the Cornerstone Festival this past Saturday, July 5 in Bushnell, Illinois.

Cornerstone is one of the most popular Christian music festivals in the United States.

A nine-minute video interview with Welch conducted at this year's Cornerstone can be viewed below.

Brian "Head" Welch will release his debut solo album, entitled "Save Me From Myself", on September 9 via Driven Music Group/H2C Records, and distributed by Ryko/Warner Music Group. The CD's first single, "Flush", will be made available exclusively via iTunes on July 8.

A three-minute audio sample of "Flush" is available for streaming at this location.

Welch's memoir, "Save Me from Myself: How I Found God, Quit Korn, Kicked Drugs, and Lived to Tell My Story", rocketed into the New York Times bestsellers list after its first week of publication last year, debuting at #20 on the "Non-Fiction" list.

For more than a decade, Brian "Head" Welch was lead guitarist for the controversial rock band KORN, but in early 2005 he shocked the international music community when he abruptly quit the band and announced that he had been saved by Jesus Christ. His announcement in front of 10,000 people in Bakersfield, California set off a media frenzy, as people from around the world sought to understand what led this rock star into the light.

In the book, Welch talks for the first time about how his tumultuous life with the band led to his surprising decision to quit KORN.

What an utterly pointless interview; why is it that when people "find jesus", all they can talk about is jesus, god, and christianity? Perhaps it's because they've become brainwashed and dull? Every single interview I see with Head now is the same damn thing:

Interviewer: So, it's great that you found jesus, welcome to the family.

Head: Yeah, man, I was so fucked up and jesus saved me. Make sure to read your bible closely, kids.

Interviewer: Yeah, isn't jesus great? I mean, all I do is think about him all day long, and my life is so fulfilling.

Head: Absolutely. All anyone needs is jesus and they're complete. My life is all about jesus now. Jesus jesus jesus.

Interviewer: Hallelujah!

Head: Hallelujah, jesus saves!!!!!!

PSHHHHHHHH what a load of shit. I hold nothing against people who believe this stuff, but stop trying to spread your supposed "divine messages" to everyone else.

Oh, and his new music is pretty boring, too.

He seems to be happy so let it be and know he will do a Korn reunion at some point within 5-8 yrs. Maybe if were lucky they put out a new cd then that's like issues/follow the leader but if not so be it. He got clean and Sober for now anyway and is making a great attempt at fixing his life. I hope he stays on that road and doesn't relapse but hey we ALL make mistakes.

Agreed^...sounds ridiculous, but you can hear the fear in Heads voice. Did you notice the part where he says he's afraid to leave the safety of his own home. I feel badly for him, he obviously has some deep regrets and guilt about how he was living.

I don't know if any of you have ever "partied like a rock star", but I have and although it creates some of the best stories that you can ever tell, it also leaves as lot of guilty feelings and you can't believe some of the depravity that you can exhibit. I'm not born again for Jesus, but I am born again from knowing the negatives of excess.

"But you will listen to Slayer babble on and on how cool Satan is"

Uhh, well, actually, it's pretty obvious that you stereotype Slayer because you don't know anything about them. Fact is, Slayer DOESN'T ramble on and on about satan. Their lead singer, Tom Araya, is actually an admitted follower of Catholicism, making him Head's "brother". The big difference lies in the way the two of them act upon those beliefs; Tom Araya practices Christianity on his own time and rarely talks about it (in fact, I don't think he's ever tried to convert or convince anyone into believing what he does....UNLIKE Head). His lyrics involve some satanic ideas, but as he has openly said, it's about selling an image, not about his personal beliefs in the devil or satanism(but he has also pointed out how, in order to believe in the devil, you must also believe in god). Moreover, a lot of his lyrics are social commentary about the absurdity of life, of how people act, of how humanity basically destroys itself, of evil, etc.

Personally, I find Tom's way of doing it a lot more justifiable than Head's. Listen, I am a huge fan of Korn's earlier stuff, and I have always liked Head. All I'm saying is that this shit has become ridiculous to the point of sad. I'm all for Head having found a way to better himself, to move past his addiction, and to take care of his family, I just see NO NEED for him to keep doing these pointless interviews where he seems so unsure of himself and can speak of nothing other than jesus and god. THERE IS more to life than that, regardless of what you believe.

Yeah, Tom Araya may have lyrics about Satan to pick up a paycheck, but isn't there enough tele-evangelist out there who are asking us to send them money for things like holy water beds, fake relics, and that oh so special bible with the pink cover?

Yeah, there may be money in singing about Satan, but Christianity exploits itself everyday to make a buck, and when I mean a buck, I mean that they scam people out of BILLIONS.

Why is anyone who trashes Christianity "an idiot"? In spite of the good things that have come from it, there have been a lot of bad things: bloody Crusades, the Inquisition, the extermination of indigenous Americans and other peoples in a mad conquest for the Cross and Empire, the subjugation in slavery, horrific wars, gay bashings, mistreatment of women and children, the constant message that "if you don't believe us and begin to question what we say, you will burn in hell!"

In the words of Bruce Dickinson, religion's got a lot to answer for.

Just for the record all walks of life and beliefs including science lovers have done bad things in their lives so why do they pick on Christianity?... because people don't want to answer for their wrongs and rebel against the teachings of the bible.

I gotta disagree about the muslims not preaching. Go to just about any college campus and check out the booths they have set up trying to draw people in. They want world domination through breeding and also violence.
