TESLA: 'Comin' Atcha Live! 2008' DVD Trailer Available - July 8, 2008
A trailer for TESLA's forthcoming third DVD, "Comin' Atcha Live! 2008", can be viewed below. Due on July 15 on the band's Tesla Electric Company Recordings label (in partnership with Ryko Distribution), it's TESLA's first DVD in 17 years (since 1991's "Five Man Video Band") and is filled with over two hours of live music, over an hour of special behind-the-scenes footage and never-before-seen material, including footage of TESLA interacting with fans, giving viewers a personal tour of Seattle, and an up-close look at their touring equipment and guitars.

"Comin' Atcha Live! 2008" also marks the world premiere of "Dear Pvt. Ledbetter", a new song written in honor of the troops from the band's forthcoming album, which is currently being recorded at bassist Brian Wheat's studio, J Street Recorders with producer Terry Thomas (who was behind the boards on the band's 1994 "Bust A Nut" album) and will be released this September. More details to be announced in the coming weeks.

The DVD was filmed at the Myth nightclub in Maplewood, Minnesota on February 22. At the sold-out show, TESLA treated fans to numerous classics such as "What You Give", "Signs", "Modern Day Cowboy", "Love Song" and "Little Suzi".

Guitarist Frank Hannon commented: "First of all, I want to say that putting things together ourselves now is artistically rewarding because it's coming out how we want it, and we are learning new things along the way. This is the first time I've actually spent weeks editing a video and it's been pretty intense. I have stayed up until 6 a.m. for several weeks editing the 'bonus feature' section of the DVD trying to get it done in time, while working on the new CD during the days. It has been the busiest time in TESLA history, but I wouldn't trade it for anything! Anyway, the 'behind-the-scenes' section has some very funny stuff with the band and crew and of course the concert is rockin'!"

One of the best live bands I've ever seen, and I've seen a lot in my 34 years. Always loved these guys.

...not what it used to be, it's too much rasp not enough vocal...I'd still see them live, only if they'd ever come to Toronto

with whiteRatt .. his voice seems almost gone, not much vocal melody left. that said. the music still sounds awesome. and if they come around locally i will def check them out.

tesla were one of the few 80's early 90's bands that had their own unique sound. great songs and great players.

Jeff Keith's voice is COMPLETELY shot, and has been for at least the last few years. It sounds awful in these clips, and the sad thing is, I'm sure they were redone in the studio.

I saw them at their very first reunion show in Sacramento back in 2000, and they were incredible. Today, however, is a very different story.

Tesla WAS awesome.

Song and Emotion is my all time favorite Tesla song........ and I too, am 34... so wonder if it's in the water. Tesla had it's time and day... I heard them recently and Jeff's voice was so god awful that I couldn't wait for the show to end. I hope it gets better.

...but I see I'm not the only one thinking about it. They do sound like crap....but it wouldn't stop me from getting this. Tesla's a guitar/song band. Simple as that. As long as he doesn't go to a death metal growl, I can deal. Tesla is a kick ass band. Come to Birmingham Alabama fuckers!

I always liked his voice because it was unique. He would never win a vocal contest, but that is what made him cool. Similar to Axl. But they did something to his voice in this video. It sounds like it's been mechanically changed compared to most of their live stuff. It sounds much higher than normal. Almost annoying. Like a mix between his old voice and Brian Johnson of AC/DC.

Never thought I would sign up to Blabbermouth after all the stupidity I've seen in the comments, when I do decide to read them, but I had to just now after seeing the ones here about Jeff's voice.

I saw them on their most recent tour last year, and Jeff sounded great. I also saw them in 2005, and he sounded great then too. Maybe I was catching early shows, but he never sounded this bad like this dvd. He is definitely straining his voice, which has to be from blowing it out early on tour. I even showed this clip to my gf just now, and it was her first time seeing them on the last tour, and she too thinks he sounded great. I also saw when they opened for Def Leppard in 1987, although I only caught the last few songs from arriving late.

I am definitely going to get this dvd, but I wish they would've recorded it from the show I saw, which was excellent in every way.

I've loved these guys for 20 years now. True voices go and such but it happens (as unfortunate as it is). These guys have always been incredible and I'll always love them. Tesla rules end of story.

hey, I LOVE this band, i've been a fan since 86' and their 1st CD/Record/Cassette---whatever you all bought if you got it with me back then. i'm 43, and Mechanical Resonance Kicked ass Then, and it kicks ass Now!! With Jeff's style of singing, it's Inevitable his voice goes out as their tours go into month 2 or 3 or whatever. Plus, he's not 25 anymore. Does ANYONE think when AC/DC tours later this year or next, that Brian Johnson's screechin voice will be what it was 5 or 10 years ago? You ALL better go see their tour in the 1st month or so as well, cuz' he is Well over 50+ so his voice will be shot after 20-30 shows more than likely as well.

I am psyched to get this LIVE 2008 DVD, but from the Trailer, it is painfully obvious they should have recorded a show from late fall of 2007 when I saw them, or earlier, and his voice wasn't that great that nite either. But, they are without a doubt some of the nicest REAL DOWN TO EARTH guys you would ever hope of meeting. Met them ALL After the show, just hung out behind the venue near the busses with about 20-30 people, and they would come out one by one, sign stuff, take pics, talked with everyone, it was very cool!! (show was in Providence, RI)---the saw them in Feb., at the Station Nightclub Tribute show, and his voice was pretty trashed still---though they said something about his having a cold, the flu I think they said. Oh well, the band KICKS ASS anyway, and this dvd should be cool.

But NEXT TIME guys, don't wait so long A, and B---record a show within 2-3 weeks of the tour!! Lol. We All LOVE you as a band, and Jeff's unique singing style perfect suits you, but after 30+ shows or so, it seems it gets blown out or really raspy or something. Yes, we know Jeff isn't 20-something anymore, so it is just one FAN'S opinion. Take care guys !! See you in 08' I Hope !!! PS--Can't Wait for the New Record!!!!!!!!!!!

COMMENT | there is a big reason behind his voice here...

Jeff, the band and the crew weredefinately under the influence of the flu. This was a really bad time for them to record but considering everything was already lined up to shoot...kinda had to make the show or break the bank, I am assuming. I saw them in Columbus OH and they were still sick from the flu and he even mentioned it to the crowd a few times.. I gaurantee after they have rested up and get back out on the road he will kick ass again..just really sucks that he had to be sick for this amazing setlist of a dvd..oh well all true Tesla heads like me will overlook and understand...Peace and SHINE AWAY!!!!!!!!!!

but i saw Tesla in 2005 in Montreal and Jeff was amazing. The greatest perfomance i ever seen fron a singer and i saw Iron Maiden, The black Crowes and Jeff was better than those two combined.

Yeah his voice has changed but he still hit the high notes almost perfect, it,s just that he lost a bit of depth in his voice. I,ll wait to see the whole DVD, but still, from those bits, he's still in tune with the song, his voice is just different.
