DRAGONFORCE: 'Heroes Of Our Time' Video Available - July 10, 2008
"Heroes Of Our Time", the new video from British extreme epic power metallers DRAGONFORCE, can be viewed below. The track comes off the group's new album, "Ultra Beatdown", which is scheduled for release on August 25 via Roadrunner Records.

The cover artwork for the CD can be viewed below.

"Ultra Beatdown" track listing:

01. Heroes Of Our Time
02. The Fire Still Burns
03. Reasons To Live
04. Scars Of Yesterday
05. Heartbreak Armageddon
06. The Last Journey Home
07. Inside The Winter Storm
08. The Warrior Inside

In a recent interview with Revolver magazine, DRAGONFORCE guitarist Sam Totman stated about the group's new material, "It's not going to be majorly different. But hopefully the melodies will be nicer, the guitar solos will be better, the production will be better. You just try to improve in every area." Vocalist ZP Theart added, "There isn't much to change, but yet there is. The last three albums have been very much guitar-orientated, and this one probably will be as well, but I want to try to do some extra coloring in with the vocals."

Asked if the songs will be faster, guitarist Herman Li replied, "Bands always say, 'Our new album is faster and heavier,' and then it's never true, so we're not gonna say that. But playing fast just works for us. People who say we play too fast are probably right, but guess what? There's a million other bands that play slow. People listen to DRAGONFORCE and go to the show because they know that we're doing something other bands aren't doing."

DRAGONFORCE is taking part in the inaugural Rockstar Energy Mayhem touring festival alongside Roadrunner labelmates SLIPKNOT.

DRAGONFORCE's last album, "Inhuman Rampage", is still romping out of stores on both sides of the pond, thanks in part to the inclusion of lead track "Through The Fire And Flames" as the "advanced" level on the top-selling Guitar Hero III computer game.

It's more tolerable to my ears than the stuff off Inhuman Rampage.

That is undoubtedly the most gloriously ridiculous album cover I have ever seen.

Dragonforce is a shining example of a band that undergoes absolutely NO evolution from album to album, and their songs lack substance to begin with. You can't distinguish one from the other because they follow the same EXACT formula, and this new song is no exception. Also, the album title/cover is LAME.

but dragonforce's solos are nothing remarkable at all, just running up and down scales, and how much over the fretboard trickery do they have to do before they get bored of it? it all just ends up sounding like a big fart noise in my ears. plus they can not back it up in a live setting as I have seen. and the eyeliner is gay.

If anyone: it's Dragonforce. They're tearing it up these days. They're totally in touch with the youth movement in heavy music, they're taking standard power metal to the next level.. and yet somehow I just can't get into them.

I'm lolling at all the keyboard warriors who have had their feelings hurt because DF went mainstream.

Yes, they use the same formula -- and good on them for doing it. The formula they use is what made them hugely popular, so why change it?

'Metalheads' that can't hack it when a band goes mainstream are new emo. Kill yourselves.

It pot is a gateway drug to harder shit, then Dragonforce is the gateway to heavier metal.

Sounds just like the lovely German eurotechno princess, Blümchen, just played on guitars instead.
Personally, this makes me sick.

You guys can hate, and fight for them all you want. Im just going to simply say their new material sounds exactly like everything else they've made...Except speeded up. Im not sayin they suck, im not sayin they good, i just think they need a kick in the ass by good ol Rick Rubin. Fuckin pussy power metal. Get the fuck out. Atleast put some balls in your music and tune to C. Fuckin speed panzy.

Then again why does my opinion matter right? Im just a simple stoner who likes his music.

If anything, they've ripped off a shitload of Angra and Stratovarius riffs. Too bad (1). Herman and the other dude couldn't even hold Timo's guitar without third degree burns (2). As with the vast majority of their songs, I doubt they'll be able to play this one correctly live (3). In terms of progression, they make Manowar look like David Bowie.

Dragonforce takes a bad idea and drives it into the ground, and also takes one good idea and drives it into the ground.

First I've been into metal 25 of my 32 years and I enjoy Dragonforce. I like all forms of metal and listen to many styles.

I love hearing all the "my band" is better then your band comments. My Angra is better than your Dragonforce.... bla bla bla come on....

All the flack people give Dragonforce could also be applied to 90% of metal since it began. Rarely is there true originality.

If you really wanted to you could say every single metal band EVER was cheesy. From bands that sing about dragons to bands that sing about death and satan. It's all a matter of opinion.

I remember when metalheads gave respect to all metal even if they didn't like a band. Because it was METAL. I guess thoses days are lost to the internet.
