AC/DC: New Album Release Date Revealed? - July 14, 2008
According to a posting on the unofficial AC/DC web site AC/DC Electric Shock, AC/DC's new album, whch will most likely be called "Black Ice", will be released by Columbia Records on October 28 in North America and October 27 in the rest of the world. The first single, "Runaway Train", which was also a contender for the album's title, will be released in late August. Details for a world tour starting in late 2008 should be announced in the coming days.

AC/DC's new album will follow 2000's "Stiff Upper Lip". It was recorded at a Canadian studio with PEARL JAM and BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN producer Brendan O'Brien.

Sony BMG, Columbia's parent company, recently revealed that the disc will be sold exclusively through Wal-Mart stores, which has caused controversy with critics and fans.

I've never illegally downloaded a CD....but I have to agree here. I may steal this one or burn a copy from someone to avoid even walking into a wal mart or going to their website.

Quit bitching about the whole Wal-Mart thing.

Real fans will go out and get this. Posers will sit at home and bitch to a bunch of faceless people on the internet.

Can't wait for this album.
See you guys at Wal-Mart.

When artists (actually more like the labels) cut deals like these they're saying "The hell with real music fans, we're just gonna cater to the nostalgia audience."

This also why the new JOURNEY record is doing so well. Their audience is the 35-45 yr.old housewives trying to recapture their youth and hope to find it in a CD.

go ahead and bitch about capitalism...that's what this boils down to...but guaranteed everyone who complains about the WALMART deal a) doesn't understand business b) wants to complain because WALMART is the equivalent of yesteryears' KMART and there's a Redneck/ Cheap-ass connotation there that nobody can deny.....so what? Screw demographics, too, a fan will find where the stuff is... You buy your fucking t-shirts and deodorant there....buy the fuckin' CD, too, if you want. By the way, last time I checked, at most big-box retailers you can't get the most rudimentary of metal titles, let alone classic rock. At least you know you can find the fucker here. Amazon and CD Universe online do reign supreme, however.

I dont give a crap about wal mart and all that.I just hope that in 8 years these guys found better things to write about because writing songs about sattelite dishes (new sattelite blues),60 year old men singing about being covered (or covering someone else) in oil and stuff like mistress for xmas just dont cut it even if it was put to great music. Look to "highway to hell" "back in black" and "For those about to rock" , some of the greatest albums of all time, for inspiration.Screw the dirty old man tongue in cheek rubbish.

I'll be happy to go to Wal Mart and buy this. It will probably be cheaper than a CD at other outlets and have bonus discs/content as well. That's good news for fans so I'll support this idea. Bring on the new stuff!

so it's only available at wal-mart big deal! yea I am gonna save 5 bucks so I am gonna cry and moan about what sell outs they are for putting a cd I can afford boo hoo. as for the journey cd it did well because it was a good cd at a great price! I am not a house wife but a long time fan and if you can get 2 cd"s plus a dvd for less than a full price cd at regular outlets then once again I am all for it. how the hell does getting music at a bargain make me less of a rocker? oh wait maybe it's because they aren't selling the latest grunt and growl cd cheap right? maybe if anybody cared they would but why waste time promting crap nobody can understand anyway. I will be there first day.

This is total bullshit, no chance in hell new AC/DC's album will be called Black Ice, or the 1st single, Runway Train, those titles just doesn't fit in AC/DC's style, no chance, although the release date might be right.

The first week the new JOURNEY album went on sale exclusively at Wal Mart it did an amazing 103,000 copies. That's a whopping 1400% more than 2005's "Generations" first week sales.

This means all these so called JOURNEY fans that bought the new record at Wal mart most likely didn't even know there was still a JOURNEY in 2005 (or even one after the 80s for that matter).

Also, surprise, surprise...half the new JOURNEY album are re recordings of songs from their glory years. Seemingly the only material these "fans" care about. Let's not forget the band's appearance on "Ellen" just before the record went on sale. What's "Ellen" 's target demograph?

The facts and numbers don't lie.

I also seem to have been able to make my point without resorting to making childish derogatory remarks. It's called maturity. Something at 47 you should look into.

AC/DC have a good plan. There are music stores that over charge the customers all over the place. Walmart will wind up selling the album for less than the local music store can afford to. Then AC/DC has the added bonus of being in front of the largest possible crowd. After that, they will probably start shipping to local outlets.

I only hope that the new AC/DC is better than Stiff Upper Lip. Of course just about every album they've made since Back in Black has been less than great.

I don't hate Walmart. They give a lot of people a good start. Sure they may be a huge company, but they hire just about everybody. As long as you can stock a shelf you can probably get a job there. I don't really understand all the hate for Walmart, its one of the best business models of all time.

See you at walmart on Oct. 28 Also if you are still crying bout the album will only be sold at walmart stores. Just buy the CD on Ebay or Amazon if you don't want to step foot inside walmart. Simple.

Walmart is great for buying in bulk, and getting a lower price. Small businesses are great for the information they provide.

Like going to the local Hardware store and getting plumbing parts. The chances of someone at Walmart being able to help is very slim, but at the local store you're going to get all the information to make the job go smoothly.

So I guess that Lowe's, Home Depot, Target, McDonalds, Sears, and any other national chain store is bad?

"Let There Be Rock" for $8.82 & "Stiff Upper Lip" for $6:88...... could that WalMart's deal with AC/DC actually passes the savings on that the "middleman" or record lable charges to the music buyer?

Now.... Who is "ripping off" who?
