OZZY OSBOURNE To Begin Work On New Album - July 22, 2008
According to a bulletin issued by OZZY OSBOURNE's MySpace page, the Prince of Darkness will follow up his appearances at the Monsters of Rock show in Calgary, Alberta, Canada on Saturday, July 26 and Ozzfest 2008 in Dallas, TX on Saturday, August 9 by returning to the studio to record a new album.

OZZY OSBOURNE's latest CD, "Black Rain", was certified gold on December 14, 2007 by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) for shipments in excess of 500,000 copies in the United States.

"Black Rain" was reissued on November 20 as a "Special Limited-Edition Tour Package" featuring a bonus CD of live tracks and B-sides. The bonus CD includes the following cuts:

01. I Don't Wanna Stop (live)
02. Not Going Away (live)
03. Here For You (live)
04. Nightmare
05. Can't Save You
06. Love To Hate

"Black Rain" debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard album chart, with first-week sales of 152,000 copies.

Ozzy and his family will return to television in a new reality variety show this fall. The Fox program has the working title of "The Osbournes: Loud And Dangerous" and will feature Ozzy Osbourne, his wife Sharon, and their kids Jack and Kelly.

Fox has reportedly ordered six episodes of the series and each episode will run for an hour. "The Osbournes: Loud And Dangerous" will feature musical performances, comedy sketches, and game-show competitions. The show is being produced by FremantleMedia North America, who also produce "American Idol" for Fox.

I have to admit that I actually liked Black Rain... The songs are good, but got ruined by modern producing and Zakk Wylde! If you try to ignore some of the riffs and stupid, modern effects, you will realise that some of the songs are old school and fucking great!

I think black rain could have been really good if he didnt have Zakk playing guitar on it. Its time for him to find another guitarist if he wants to keep writing new material because right now its all starting to sound the same. He needs another Jake E. Lee album that would be killer!

I can't wait for the next tour to see how many shows are cancelled. Thanks for screwing Cleveland last tour. I've had it with buying tickets and then getting an email just as you are about to leave saying the Ozzy show has been cancelled due to "unforseen circumstances, private family matters, etc". All it amounts to is Sharon doesn't think enough tickets have been sold for that particular show so they bail out of the concert.

HATED Black Rain.

I hate to say this, but there is no point in another album. These are bad albums being written and recorded by other people and then they just stock Ozzy's voice on it at the end. It's probably been that way for awhile, but no there's no denying it.

It hurts me to say, but there should be no more Ozzy albums. There will be nothing listenable from this point on. Do your little ten song set every summer at Ozzfest and leave it at that.

The other guys in Black Sabbath have seen the light - they're working ona new album with Dio - looks like tehre will be no new 40th Anniversary Sabbath album. And just as well - 'Selling My Soul' and 'Psycho Man' were there worst pieces of shit to ever be called Black Sabbath (and yes I'm counting Eternal Idol) - do we need a whole album of Zakk Wylde leftovers with Tony overdubbed to tarnish the legacy?

I think not.

Heaven and Hell is picking up where Black Sabbath left off.

i think at some point we all have to just accept things for what they are. There will always be those who just love everything Ozzy does and others who will always just criticize every little thing. The same goes with Metallica and others. I haven't been a fan of much of the Ozzy material since No More Tears. With Black Rain, Ozzy has been said to have been more involved in the writing process than in the last decade+. Take it for what it's worth. I thought the 1st track kinda kicked it a bit but that was it for me. I don't think the problem is Zakk. Who knows, maybe Ozzy just needs to recruit an entirely new band and see where it goes from there.

You people are stupid!!!!!! Have you been to any shows this past tour with Rob Zombie?????

Clearly, you have not because if you had...you would know that Zakk gets the loudest cheers when Ozzy is introducing the band!!!!!

Zakk is the only thing left that people go to see at an Ozzy concert and you want him to kick him out of the band? I love Ozzy but can't watch him anymore because I feel bad for him and that is not how I want to remember him by....struggling through songs and watching how he reads from the teleprompter..it is sad.

Ozzy should call it a career, seeing how he has been going 17 years since he did his No More Tours tour. Zakk and BLS will go out and kick some more ass!!!!!!!

Zakk rules!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No Ozzy fan can deny the track Nightmare was very very good. An album of that calibre will be great.

This is getting sick and disturbing. Another TV show? Another album? I like the idea of a new album if it can make up for the garbage that was called Black Rain. As for the TV show, does anybody remember back when Ozzy was cool and had integrity? You know, like during his Sabbath years and his solo stuff up to Diary of a Madman? This guy used to be a god. Ozzy was cool, he was dangerous. Even Lemmy respected him. Sharon is going to pump him full of pain meds, roll his barely warm corpse in front of the cameras, laugh when he drools, and scream at her shitting dogs. For fuck's sake, please make this shit stop. Oz, we LOVE you, just retire and save some dignity. You are SO above all this crap. Also, why not make the album YOU want and not the one Sharon wants?

I have been saying ever since Zakk used more than 20 pinch harmonics a song.

If Ozzy got John 5 on a new CD, can you imagine how awesome it would be? I doubt Ozzy sits down with a guitar and writes songs. John 5 is such a diverse writer he'd make it sound fucking phenominal!!!

If he's not going to work with Tony, Geezer and Bill on a 40-minute album, I really don't care.

That 40th anniversary of Sabbath is pretty much here. Make an album that fills 2 sides of a record and rules on some level. Or don't bother.

I don't really know what anyone else thinks, but personally I think the problem with all Ozzy's more recent album is Zakk Wyle. Not that I have any problem with Zakk as a guitar player, I think he's great. But his song writing style, I really don't like at all. And even worse, it works worse with Ozzy on vocals. Ozzy should stop trying to pull off detuned classic rock/nu metal. It's just not his thing. I think we all miss Randy Rhoads, but I'd settle for even Jake E. Lee, Bark at the Moon was pretty cool.

Actually its been that way for all of Ozzy's career. He never wrote the music or the lyrics (though he wrote a few songs' lyrics). Personally I think Ozzy should freshen things up by having the new album feature a different guitarist on every song. And I am getting the impression this is a new solo album hes doing, not Sabbath. His standards for a new Ozzy-fronted Sabbath album are so ridiculously high itll never get made. Think about it: weve been talking about a new one for about as long as Chinese Democracy. I think we'll end up hearing a new Ozzy-fronted Sabbath song eventually, perhaps for a 100th greatest hits album or a soundtrack for an Ozzy reality show, but other than that probably not much more. Although I am looking forward to the new Heaven & Hell (which, of course, IS basically Black Sabbath).

I agree with the "His standards for a new Ozzy-fronted Sabbath album are so ridiculously high it'll never get made" part, but would also like to add - the writing team of Iommi/Butler/Dio is absolutely KILLER. How can you hope to top this? TWO, count e'm 2 great lyricists, & THE RIFFMASTER KING. Ozzy missed the boat on Sabbath, AGAIN. Someone once said that Zakk should lose the whole drunken/biker schtick, & I agree with that also. Shave the beard & get out yer bell bottoms again bro, & give us summore of that bluesy stuff fer a change. Change it up fer a bit, & come back harder than ever with a revitalized BLS.

Personally I think a guitarist like Alexi Laiho of COB would be a good guitarist for Ozzy as he has that Randy Rhoads/Yngwie-esque feel yet still sounds modern. And Im sure hed jump at the chance. If Zakk can manage 2 bands at the same time, so could Alexi. Although he also has Sinergy, too. I know Im just throwing a name out but i think its plausible (given how successful COB is now) should Zakk want to concentrate on BLS literally full-time.

Yeah, Iommi and Butler would write a great album (Iommi with the music, Geezer the lyrics) so Ozzy is a little obsessive about how a new Sabbath album would turn out. Im not saying all of Iommi's albums have been great but hed go all out with a real 'reunion' album. But Im not holding out hope that a new album will even be released. When the reunion happened some 10 years ago im sure everyone thought wed have one by 2008 but it hasnt.

Ozzy still kicks ass, I don't give a fuck what anyone says or thinks. I saw him last year at Ozzfest and he was fucking amazing. Sure, having Zakk Wylde helps, but when HASN'T Ozzy's backing band played a role in how awesome his music is? When it comes to Blizzard and Diary, the main praises those albums get is for Randy Rhoads' guitar playing, just like people praise Zakk now. All that's happened is Ozzy has gotten older. Point is, Ozzy still rules, and fuck the haters.
