C.C. DEVILLE Wants POISON Concerts To Be 'Honoring To God'
- July 22, 2008
|
|
Pete Wilson, the pastor at Cross Point Church in Nashville, Tennessee recently got a call from POISON guitarist C.C. DeVille asking for advice and inviting him to POISON's July 8 concert at the Sommet Center in Nashville. According to Pete, " C.C. has just become a Christian and was wondering if I would be willing to bring him some messages he could listen to on the road, as well as just encourage him, and answer a few questions." Pete added, "This guy [ C.C.] has an amazing heart. We spent some time with him pre-concert and before he went to get ready to go on stage he said, ' Pete, would you watch the show tonight and tell me if you see me do anything that would not be honoring to God.' Are you kidding me???? "After the concert we had a creative team meeting with him where we suggested a few different ways he could interweave the story of what God is doing in his life through his music. The entire experience was surreal, to say the least." Video footage of C.C. discussing such topics as "cussing, elder meetings, accountability and Guitar Hero" can be viewed below. For more of Pete's account, visit the Without Wax web site.

I'm for it if the human sacrifices in question happen to be all of the members of Tokio Hotel.

What is with the trend of finding god these days. It kind of pisses me off. It's almost like an insult to those people that are truely spiritualy convicted. Not that C.C. is one of these fake people, but the media seems to love this stuff. That, and it brings out alot of really annoying people who are always trying to push or pull you in one specific direction. Spirituality shouldn't be forced and rigid, it should be an open dialogue in order to stewart spiritual growth. Ok, I'm off my soap box.

I am tired of people calling it "bigotry" when people criticize religion and those who are religious. Tom Cruise used the same bullshit argument when he ws crticized about Scientology. Criticism of religion is not bigotry, it is intelligence. If you want real bigotry, see how atheists are treated by the rest of the world.

If this keeps CC from killing himself, then I will not knock on him for his new religious faith. Let us at least try to be happy that someone has gotten off of destructive drugs.
Who knows how the other members of POISON will react and adjust to CC's enthusiasm, but as long as he does not shove and demand that they adopt his stances on Christianity, then POISON will certainly continue on producing music that sickens fans of Morbid Angel and Deicide for the foreseeable future.

I see a different "trend" here (for the lack of a better word). All of these rockers that "found God" are "getting on in the years" and have lived a lifetime of debachery. Now in their later years they probably figure they've "grown up " and to them that means religion. For some this is probably a good thing. Some of my fave artists probably wouldn't still be with us today without finding religion (Alice Cooper, MEGADETH).
We're seeing this more and more in the world of pro wrestling as well.

What would Jesus do? Probably not a thing his numbnut followers do.
BTW, saying Christianity is not bigotry because bigotry often brings into context biologically inherited things, such as skin color, sex, or sexual orientation. Things proven to be beyond someone's capability to truly change. Christianity is an ideal, a dogma and a way of thinking. I could be just as bigoted saying I don't believe Lord Of The Rings to be true and shouldn't be shoved down my throat.
I guess I'm bigoted towards the snake cults in "Conan The Barbarian" as well.

If you dress as a priest, you can do pretty much all you want, even abuse young boys. Its very popular these days in the roman catholic church. If you get cought, the pope will cover for you.

God is not a religion ;-). Religion: 1. An organized system or institution of belief based upon the traditions of men INSTEAD of the pursuit of friendship with God. 2. The act of playing church, exchanging internal truths for external performance; substituting spiritual realities with carnal rituals.

I met CC around 1987 through Brett at a club in Mechanicsville, Pa. I worked for an instrument company at the time, so I had the opportunity to spend a lot of time with them over the next few years. I grew very attached to CC- he was silly and fun and always made a scene when I'd show up somewhere because I, too, came from NY and he would tell people we were related. His drug problem was obvious, but he was a wonderful person, so I tried to ignore what bothered me so much. In '89 or '90, we'd gotten together and he was clean. He took me aside and said "I'm clean now, I'm playing better than ever...but look at me. I AM HUGE" (he had gained a lot of weight). Within two weeks he was off the wagon, and I never saw him again. When I heard an interview with Brett about removing CC from the band, I knew it had to be really bad. I actually waited to see how long it would be before CC overdosed and died. That thought was always with me. For the past 5 years, I haven't missed a Poison concert. It is so wonderful to see CC alive and healthy. Though he was someone from the past, I always thought of him as a friend. To hear that he has found God is not something to joke about. He had hit rock bottom, and he was spared his life! Whether you believe in God or some other higher power, you have to know that his life was spared by divine intervention. For those who have only seen his problems on stage or TV, know that they were much greater than you could have ever known. I applaud CC for openly accepting God into his life, knowing full well that people will judge him for it. It takes a big man to do this. He has a real purpose in his life now. Have you seen his son He needs to be here to watch him grow. God Bless you CC! You should stand proud (you'll never be tall, but you will always be proud for this).

I don't have any problems with anyone believing in what they want (I am Agnostic, myself) but I do think that it is lame that a lot of drug recovery/rehab programs try to introduce religion onto people as a way to give them something to turn to for inspiration, power, and perseverance. Why do you have to teach these people to turn to something else for strength? It would seem to me that teaching people that all of the power and strength they need to make positive changes in their life can be found within themself, instead of making them dependent on some outside person/icon/set of ideals.
Just my personal thoughts on the subject.

What is the deal with such haters of religion. I understand the contradictions and all and I personally hate the music of Poison but if this is helping this guy out and his life is together then what is the problem here?
He is believing, in his mind, in something peaceful. It's btter than believing in something greedy and self indulgent and if it feels good then do it. "Do as Thou Shall Wilt amy be the wholeth of the law" or whatever just means if it feels good, no matter what it is, then do it. That is about as stupid as any philosophy I've ever heard. How selfish can one be? I don't speak without knowing what I am saying and I've done plenty of research.
The thing I don't get is the extreme hate and bashing of someone else's religion for the sale of being "cool" or black metallish or something. It doesn't make you tough, it doesn't make you sound cool so why bother? You're so cool now that you can bash on a religion. How daring and rebellious. Fucking stupid.
Like I said, I don't like the music of Poison whatsoever. CC Deville, himself, seems like an alright guy. More power to him for at least trying to believe in something that will bring him peace.

Yeah, I'd love to see the day that Deicide and Marduk do something for other people or charity. I like both bands but do not see them ever doing something like that. Of course not. It wuoldn't be satanic if they did help others out for a charitable cause.
I'd rather live next door to CC also then Glen Benton. Glen Benton acts all macho and tries to be scary and shit with his look and image and his comments but he ain't. I do like his music though.
Most stupid kids on here don't realize that this is all a gimmick anyway. Just an act and kids fall for it just like drinking the Kool Aid. Stupid, impressionable kids who cannot think for themselves so they think it's cool to be like Glen Benton or some black metal band. The black metal bands don't even worship the damn devil. I don't think any band really does. It's all a fucking act. If not, then most of them are just an act.
It really started around the NWOBHM. Around the time of Venom and Slayer and the upside down crosses. Then came Celtic Frost and Possessed and guess what? It's all an act! Just fiction and image!

I don't know if CC himself will ever read this but if so, AWESOME NEWS BROTHER!
Poison was the band that got me into rock 'n' roll close to 20 years ago. Back then and still today they were/are my favorite band. To hear this news just solidifies that.
2 Corinthians 5:17 says it all.
I won't even attempt to argue with anyone here whom doesn't know the Truth but I extend a hand to anyone that interested in learning. My email address is listed on my profile.
Again, congrats CC! May the Lord do many great things through you.
I do have one question for the non-believers though; How long until you realize it's not a coincidence?
