RUSH: New Concert DVD Due In November - July 25, 2008
According to a posting on the RUSH fan site RushIsABand.com, RUSH filmed its July 22, 2008 concert at Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Alpharetta, Georgia. The main purpose for the shoot was to get video footage of the songs "Red Barchetta", "The Trees", "Ghost Of A Chance" and "2112", along with Neil Peart's drum solo, to be included as bonus material on the band's upcoming companion DVD to the "Snakes & Arrows Live" two-CD set (released this past April), which featured the complete set performed in Rotterdam on the 2007 leg of the tour. Apparently the footage was to head immediately back to FogoLabs for processing after the show so it could be ready for the DVD — which now has a tentative release date of November 4. Guitarist Alex Lifeson and bassist/vocalist Geddy Lee will be taking the next several weeks off before putting their attention towards adding their finishing touches to the DVD and Neil is working on the packaging.

RUSH's current concert leg wrapped last night (July 24) in Indianapolis, Indiana. The group has been out behind its 18th studio album, "Snakes & Arrows", which marked RUSH's first set of all-new material since 2002's "Vapor Trails".

RUSH's songs "Closer to the Heart" and "Working Man" were recently made available for the Rock Band video game.

RUSH will receive a star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame next year.

OK, so they filmed it in HD. Great. The drum solo may be seen better. But a DVD every tour is too much of a good thing. do not need this same setlist again.

I'd rather watch a black and white video from the ALL THE WORLD'S A STAGE era. That's where the legend was made.

And Neil's part on the packaging... writing three insightful paragraphs and saying YES or No to the artwork created by someone else. Not really a big job, eh?

I too am tired of hearing and seeing a lot of the tracks that are on every tour and live album, but this time around there looks to be a healthy number of tunes that have either never been on a live film of the band before, or have not been on one of the last few.

Rush rules :)

i have no problem with bands like rush or iron maiden putting out live dvd's after every tour.

i'd much rather see these bands live but unfortunately i just can't get to every show. sometimes making it to work the next day is more important when you have a family, bills, mortgage etc.

at least with the dvd i can see the show filmed professionaly with good sound instead of some cell phone footage on youtube.

i know alot of people are going to bash rush for releasing another dvd, but like i say there's many of us who'd love to see them but for whatever reason couldn't make it.

1)i love rush, and will be buying this asap

2)there is no video of all the worlds a stage

3)there is no (official)video of 2112 in its entirety(it was only played on the t4e tour)

4)they dont change the set enough.

I can never get enough Rush.

Peart's drum solo from this tour is worth the price of the DVD alone!

should release a live CD and DVD to document every tour. Rush, Marillion, Fish, Porcupine Tree, Deep Purple to name a few. Last time I checked no one is making anyone buy these. Hell for Deep Purple I would like to see every show released. So if you dont want it, dont buy it and quit your BITCHING.

I was at the show in Charlotte last Sunday with my wife who had never seen, and rarely listened to Rush, thanks to the nerd rock label back in college. Last year, I also took her to see Tool for the first time. One of the first things she said to me was that she thought Pert was every bit as good, and maybe a little better than Danny Carey.

...... The thing is that these guys are fucking old by rock standards, and play as well or better than ANYONE out there. Geddy's voice is as good as it was 25 years ago. Theyto have a played music from all the eras effortlessly. The new music was awesome, although it seems that Alex seems to be playing a lot like Adam Jones these days. All that aside, I found the show to have a brightness that you don't really find much anymore. Here are three guys that are virtuoso's, but unlike Yes and Dream Theater, don't have the we're better than everyone else attitute, and unlike Pink Floyd and Tool, are confident enough to poke fun at themselves. The intro to Tom Sawyer was the piece of the the Southpark episode that totally made fun of them. I couldn't ever see Tool (one of my favorite bands) allowing themselves to do that. I was thoroughly impressed by Rush, and will continue to go to their shows as long as they decide to continue.

There's going to come a day when your favorite bands call it quits and you wished you had something to look back on. RUSH is doing it for the fans and their more then welcome to take my cash because its totally worth it. RUSH is the only band I know that steps it up without conforming to what the norm is and making music that appeals to themselves. Lyrically and musically there is no other band like them. Every album they put it kicks it up a notch and they get better everytime with age. So yeah, keep putting stuff out cuz one day we'll just have the mammories.

Now just remix Vapor Trails and life is complete.

This was the best tour they've had in 25 years. I need to have something to memorialize it. Hopefully, the DVD will include the entire set (including all the songs from the first leg -- that would be a bonus!)

They played "Overture"/"Temples of Syrinx" at the tail end of the 2nd set. I saw them on the 17th in Hershey. They followed the set list of Snakes and Arrows Live, dropping "Entre Nous", "Secret Touch" and "Distant Early Warning" for "Ghost of a Chance", "The Trees", "Red Barchetta", and "Overture". I don't remember them playing "Far Cry" either, but the newspaper review the next day claimed they did.

I'm all for this. I don't understand why Rush gets called out for releasing "so many live discs and DVDs in the last few years", but fans of bands as diverse as Pearl Jam, Marillion, Deep Purple, or Grateful Dead don't complain about having MUCH MORE live material available to them. We need to enjoy it while we can. There will be a point in time where Rush decides "it was a good career, let's end it here".
