STEVEN ADLER: 'I've Got SLASH, DUFF, IZZY And AXL Behind Me; I've Got Their Prayers' - July 28, 2008
Former GUNS N' ROSES drummer Steven Adler and his lawyer Barry Sands attended a court hearing in Los Angeles on Friday (July 25) regarding Steven's recent drug-related arrest. (See video from X17 below.)

Prior to the hearing, Steven told X17 cameras he was nervous, but looking to move on and sober up.

"I'm feeling much better," he said. "I made a recent mistake. I had a relapse after 37 days. I just wanna take care of this and move on. I'm back to seven days sober, so I wanna keep that going — seven days, seven weeks, seven months, seven years. It's the first day of the rest of my life right now. I wanna keep the sobriety going and keep my health going. I'm just glad I've got my friends behind me. I've got Slash behind me, Duff, Izzy, Axl… [they're] all behind me. I've got their prayers."

After the hearing was over, the 43-year-old rocker's attorney said that the court date was moved to August 20, and his client hasn't been charged with a crime.

Steven added, "The bottom line is, I made a mistake, I relapsed. You've gotta pay for your mistakes, and I'm just paying for it. And whatever I have to do to take care of this to keep this in the past so I can move on to the future, I'll do it."

When asked what advice he had for young rockers who may be going through a similar ordeal while struggling to maintain a music career, Adler replied, "Have your loved ones videotape you using and then watch it when you're sober or not using and seeing how terrible you look and terrible you act, and I'm pretty sure that'll help you not wanna use anymore."

Los Angeles police spokesman Richard French told the Associated Press that Adler was arrested around 4 a.m. on July 18 by officers called to a home where a man reportedly was creating a disturbance and refusing to leave.

The warrant stems from a 2005 case where Adler was charged for being under the influence of a controlled substance and driving on a suspended license. He then sealed his fate by missing a court date in April of 2006.

The drummer told Lynn Hernandez of Tulsa, Oklahoma's 97.5 KMOD radio station at the Rocklahoma festival about a week before his arrest that he was planning on being part of the cast of "Sober Living", a spin-off of VH1's "Celebrity Rehab".

"Sober Living", which was described as a cross between "Surreal Life" and "The Real World", would put a number of "Celebrity Rehab" alumni together in a luxurious Beverly Hills mansion for 30 days while they try to rebuild their careers without drugs and alcohol, according to the New York Post.

Like "Celebrity Rehab", the new show would prominently feature Dr. Drew Pinsky ("Loveline"), who oversees the celebs during their stints in televised rehab.

Steven Adler last month underwent detoxification and treatment at a center in the Los Angeles area on the second season of the hit reality series "Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew". The series, consisting of eight one-hour episodes, is slated to premiere October 2008 on VH1.

Why do these fuckin celebrities want cameras following them all the time?? If you're a recovering drug addict (and struggeling at it), why would you want people to see your every movement? How does that fuckin help? If anything, you need as much space as you can get. I'll never get it.

Sorry, had to vent.

BTW, for a guy like this ANY DAY sober is a miracle! Imagine your sobriety being intoxication for a good 20 something years, all day/ever day and now you have to find a new way of life! It's like RIOTACT having to come in here with good, skeptical, cynical, comments that are elaborative! Pretty tough to do! He couldn't do that for 37 days! I'd say it's about that hard!

He really wants this type of publicity. But the sad fact is that we now have an industry in Hollywood that is dedicated to "getting the dirt" on anyone that has ever had their 15 minutes. Whether these stars want it or not. I hope the day comes when TMZ, ET, and all the paparazzi just go away.

Well put. If you actually agree to be ridiculed, whether for better or worse, then you gotta be seeking some spotlight. Also, to those who make these shows, it is purely for ratings and nothing else! They could care less if this guy makes it or dies because it will all bring in the RATINGS!!! Point taken!

Hope all is well!

Ive always known him to be the drug type.....But ive also known him to be the most fun loving, and nicest member in GNR. Steve man, get your fuckin lazy heroin paralyzed ass into shape, and stop fuckin with drugs man! Its not good that your just wasting yourself away!!.

I too, say bring on all the sobriety in the world, become one of the greatest drummers again, and Axl stop being a pain and apologize....And finally bring on the Guns N Roses reunion. That would mind blowing. GNR for life!

Drug addiction is a horrific ordeal. You have to go to hell and back to become sober.

I know.

Believe it or not, as horrific as his highly publicized drug problem is, Steven Adler still isn't as overexposed as Pete Doherty or Amy Winehouse just yet.

Hopefully he'll get his act together soon.
