Iranian METALLICA Fans Flock To Istanbul To See Band Perform - July 28, 2008
Turkey's Sabah reports that a significant number of tourists flocked to Istanbul last night (Sunday, July 27) to see the legendary heavy metal band METALLICA perform at the Ali Sami Yen Stadium. Some of the group's fans began to line up for the concert at 5:00 a.m. yesterday morning. A METALLICA fan from Iran stated, "My country's regime would not allow such a concert to take place; that's why I came to see them in Istanbul. I cannot even dream of seeing this concert in my own country."

METALLICA's setlist for the Istanbul concert:

01. Creeping Death
02. For Whom The Bell Tolls
03. Ride The Lightning
04. Harvester Of Sorrow
05. Welcome Home (Sanitarium)
06. Leper Messiah
07. ...And Justice For All
08. No Remorse
09. Fade To Black
10. Master Of Puppets
11. Whiplash
12. Nothing Else Matters
13. Sad But True
14. One
15. Enter Sandman
- - - - -
16. Last Caress
17. Motorbreath
18. Seek And Destroy

Two of Scandinavia's biggest online music retailers — Ginza.se and CDON.COM — are listing September 30 as the release date for the new METALLICA album, "Death Magnetic".

METALLICA has yet to officially announce a release date for the CD, which will be available to download for Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock on the same day the album arrives in stores.

The band is offering the record for sale in numerous configurations, ranging from a digital-only release to a deluxe "coffin box" that will come with a bonus CD, a DVD, a T-shirt, guitar picks and other goodies.

METALLICA is currently on tour in Europe and is expected to begin a North American jaunt in October.

At least we're able to see countless bands perform in our country. Damn muslim countries. I can't say that all muslims are bad, I actually know a couple who are laid back and don't force their religion on anyone or go by their faiths beliefs 100%. But do you see any American made cartoons for kids having suicide bombers go after Iranian troops and dying for Jesus? No! We might have a few idiots going around and giving this country a bad rep, but there's more good people than bad. So thank you for turning this thread into a political/CULTural debate.

I was thinking the same thing. Before "Justice" came out they were already playing "Harvestor of Sorrow" and some other stuff. I hope this isn't the case though. I would think that they have some pride and integrity toward what they do still despite their obvious disappointments.

It's funny because if Metallica wasn't known for being so damn awesome in the 80's and they STARTED with the Black album, like so many probably think, those last few, actually starting with the black album, wouldn't be viewed upon as so disappointing obviously and probably they wouldn't of gotten such a bad rap.

That being said, I really want to believe that this next one will be good again. It's been a while. If they are for the fans that got them where they are, they'll respect this and make something decent for themselves AND for the fans! BTW, the version of Maiden's "Remember Tomorrow" on the radio, is actually pretty damn solid IMHO.

I do agree that there are indeed Americans who don't care about the deaths overseas. This is truly, truly unfortunate. Yet, at the same time, there are so, so many people that regret their voting for Bush because of what he has done. Who's to say if someone else were President, the same thing wouldn't be happening?

BTW, I am constantly hearing about how the troops should come home and this has been done to the point of extremity and overkill. I hear this constantly and believe me, some of these people voted for Bush. Like I said, if it were someone else, who's to guarantee that the same death rate wouldn't be occuring overseas.

Lastly, what about the terrorists from over there that STARTED this whole damn thing?! I would say THEY should be blamed for this more than everyone! Like I said, I don't try to start problems and get in situations that I KNOW I cannot win. These sick people thought they could fuck with this country KNOWING we are more powerful yet thinking that we are "weak" and therefore won't retaliate. WRONG. If Iran or Iraq or Afghanistan could, they would have bombed this whole country to death. If your beloved countries were bombed for no fucking reason by some US scum and had the weapons to fight back, they would have MUTILATED us by now! What makes you think they're any different or so nice? Believe me, there has always been more hatred toward us then we ever had toward them. They are the cause of 9/11 and other bombings toward innocent people. I don't believe that innocent people should be wiped out but I also do't believe in 9/11 and the idiots who said we were too "weak" to do anything about it. What stupidity.

I truly believe that Bush needs to get the fuck out ASAP and many Americans do. We have seen the bloodshed enough. Now we have another choice of which fucking moron to put into the White House. It's a tough choice when, once again, you vote for dumb or dumber?? Me, I'll probably not vote. If anything, McCain but who knows what kind of damage will occur then? Yeah, there are many stupid Americans who vote for whoever looks the youngest or whoever seems to be the nicest guys without taking anything else into consideration. It is sad. However, this type of stupidity can be found world wide. Because people are stupid, doesn't necessarily make them evil. They don't know any better, just like my dogs, they are stupid, fortunately don't have the right to vote but they mean well and they're real nice.

Stupid illiterates will vote for Obama just because he is Black and no other reason. If you don't vote for him then you're racist. Bottom line is, it is ALWAYS unpredictable what may happen once one BECOMES President after the lies are over during the elections. Nobody wanted or wished for this type of bloodshed on innocent people and mother's and kids. Nobody is inheritely that scummy. People are just clueless and unaware, lazy, and can't think for themselves. They just don't get involved. Then there is the issue of which politican is lying the least.

The Sofia (Bulgaria) concert was not all that good i cant tell you. I have seen Metallica in 2006-Dublin, 2007-Athens & 2008-Sofia. I can easily tell you that this year metallica seemed tired at times and less energetic for sure.

I think too that new material is very much needed and i can only hope that the new album will provide solid enough songs to make it to the set list.

Another thing that i have to mention is that Kirk is playing better on this tour compared to the two previous years.

Trujillo and James are both as solid and stable as ever. Lars however is worst than ever before.

He can't play a damn tempo no more... not to mention fills and drum rolls that are simply out of his system and repertoire these days. It is just sad how he messes up the shows without even trying. Metallica needs to have another drummer. The truth is that the band will probably die before anyone replaces Lars. Still i need to state what would be best for the band's live performances.

you guys who complain about how Europeans are US bashers perhaps should have a closer look at yourselves. I bet it's people like you (the posters) who dissed the countries that refused to join your ranks in Iraq 5 years ago. You say it's the 9/11 terrorists fault and it was a question of honour starting the war on terror, but contrarily to what you seem to think 9/11 didn't happen for no reason, it was a horrible, but still logical consequence to your governments decades-long implication into middle-eastern affairs, but you'll probably never face it.

Oh and we Europeans, or at least our governments are also just as much hypocrite moralists as yours, but at least we the inhabitants of this continent have suffered enough wars to learn the value of peace. We make fun of you because your reactions are so childishly naive (don't fuck with the eagle!!), I for once don't give a shit about politics and I know these fucks will never get me into their fucking army to die for their selfish little interests! period.

educate yourself before posting shit. the war turned to the allies' advantage from the battle of Stalingrad in Russia and it's those same Russians who freed Berlin. The US entered WW2 because of the Pearl Harbour agression, they wouldn't have given a shit if it wasn't for that.

Was a punch in the face, a wakeup call that the US sorely needed. When your one of the largest most powerful nations in the world and you try and assert your dominance over other smaller nations because your government believes they know whats best for everyone else... someone is eventually going to push you back, and it wasnt a country or a organized military power. It was one crazed madman with a truly ingenious and near flawlessly executed plan to etch a symbol of fear in the hearts of Americans... Americans will never have that comfort, that feeling of invulnerability they had before 9/11 and its tragic that so many innocent people die in these meaningless battles.. but the fact of the matter is the "war" that Bush wages is very much a terrorist attack to those nations, just as the attack on 9/11 was a terrorist coup to us... Evil is in the perception of the eyes of each party.. The fact of the matter is both parties are killing innocents of a cause they see as righteous... no single man should ever have that power.

I don't think there is any purpose to kill innocent people for no reason. These killings are done in ultimate fear of Iran taking Iraqui oil and possessing all that oil so they can have some sort of world power. We are trying to make it so the Iraqui's and Iranians that are together in sharing the oil or hving Iran get a piece, when they have plenty already. This, Iran believes will give them much power, which it would. If you take the troops, who have been killed more in this country from mistakes made HERE then overseas, out of where they are now, there will be a HUGE retribution where political gangs will run rampant and kill everything in sight. Just like after Cambodia and Vietnam. In Korea, 53 years later, we STILL have troops there! This is about oil possession and not letting Iran get ahold of it. Our troops are not getting harmed as much as they are over HERE! In training! That is statistics! If they leave there, all hell will break loose!

Who the fuck is this idiot Obama? No experience and made time to go play basketball instead of visiting our wounded troops because there were no cameras to promote him in the hospitals. They weren't allowed. Sounds like a real scumbag to me.

Oh yeah, I can't wait to see Metallica play the oldies here any time I damn well please!

Enough of this shit. Metallica
