NIGHTWISH To Release 'The Sound Of Nightwish Reborn' Digital-Only Collection - July 28, 2008
Finland's NIGHTWISH will once again tour U.S. soil, hitting all major markets and cities along the way. The band will bring its massively popular yet refreshingly unique blend of progressive Euro metal, fueled by the siren-like vocals of Anette Olzon, to North American shores for the third and final trek in support of last year's "Dark Passion Play", which has sold nearly 75,000 copies in the U.S. since its September 2007 release.

Coinciding with the tour, the band will also release a digital-only collection of demos and B-sides titled "The Sound of Nightwish Reborn", available through all digital service providers, on September 2. This release, which clocks in at nearly 70 minutes of music, retains "must-have" status for all NIGHTWISH diehards, since it includes a bevy of exclusive material, such as demo versions of songs from the "Dark Passion Play" sessions that were recorded prior to Olzon joining the band and that feature Marco Tapani Hietala handling the vocals, as well as B-sides.

The track listing for "The Sound of Nightwish Reborn" is as follows.

* "Eva" (demo version) - Demo session, pre-album +
* "Reach" ("Amaranth" demo) - Demo session, pre-album +
* "While Your Lips Are Still Red" - B-side, pre-album
* "Escapist" - B-side, Album session
* "The Poet and The Pendulum" - Demo version, pre-album +
* "Bye Bye Beautiful (DJ Orkidea remix)" - Album session
* "Meadows of Heaven" - Orchestral version, album session
* "Amaranth" - Orchestral version, album session
* "The Escapist" - Instrumental Version, album session

+ Pre-Olzon demo versions.

"Reach" ("Amaranth" demo):

Fairly short track list; orchestral versions of songs aside. And considering that; it's pretty short for the 'title' they're giving it; I mean, the title works but... it seems like there should be more, you know?

Not that this is a bad idea... I like Marco's voice. He's gotten a lot better over the years. So it'll be interesting to hear his take on the songs!

The vocals on the "Reach" demo are absolutely horrible. Hilarious actually.

So naturally I'm happy about this news. But, when I clicked on tis links, I was hoping for something like.. studio recoridngs of Anette singing the old songs. Maybe. Have to say I'm a little dissapointed, but it'll be pretty cool having them all on one collection.

But Bye Bye Beautiful remix? :S Personally did not like that one.

I thought most of these had been released already. The 'album as we know it' is not dead, this is just nuclear blast trying to milk every last dollar from them.

As for the person who said Marco's vocals are laughable, you clearly have no idea of a good vocalist, and your aural skill are terrible.

Subsequently, I hope you get hit by a bus.

@sinisterblessing420

The songs that they're releasing aren't worthy to make up their own CD. They're B-sides, and there's no point in putting it into production when the songs are inherently sub-standard, and only hardcore nightwish fans would buy it.

Also, I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that... pretty much everyone in nightwish's target demographic has the internet. If they don't, they're getting it soon.

I've heard the Reach demo, it sucks.
Nightwish (the band) always complain about the record companies release stupid stuff like this but they can't do anything about it.
Euro metal? Nightwish would never call them selves that, thats the record company talking.
