STATIC-X To Release 'Cannibal Killers Live' DVD In October - July 29, 2008
California metallers STATIC-X will release their first-ever concert DVD, "Cannibal Killers Live", on October 7. The disc was shot with six cameras on June 2, 2007 at the Big Easy in Spokane, Washington and "it's awesome," frontman Wayne Static stated during a July 25 interview on the "Uncensored Net Noise" show. "I can't even explain how great this thing looks and sounds."

Wayne's entire appearance on "Uncensored Net Noise" is available for streaming and/or download at this location.

Static last year told Australia's Time Off magazine that fans of the band have responded very positively to the direction of "Cannibal", the group's fifth and undoubtedly heaviest record to date.

"It's been great, it's been awesome," he said. "I think our fans really love it and appreciate the fact it's heavier and we've had a great response.

"I wanted to make the heaviest record that we've ever made and still be very STATIC-X, but I wanted to definitely make the most metal record we've ever made as well.”

In order to make the record he wanted, Static decided to take on the main production duties himself, though decided to enlist some help from engineer John Travis.

'I wanted to be the main producer this time around, because I really knew exactly what I wanted to do," he said. 'I really wanted to strip things down and make the record raw and heavy sounding so that was why I insisted on being the lead producer.

"I chose John Travis to work with me because he's an awesome engineer and he's also a musician and has great ideas and mostly is just a really fun guy to hang out with and he drinks a lot and tells great jokes."

Fan-filmed video footage of STATIC-X performing the song "This is Not" on November 12, 2007 at the Thebarton Theatre in Adelaide, Australia can be viewed below (clip uploaded by YouTube user "metallifreak27").

i've worked this band's shows twice before, 2002 and 2005. both times the vocals and guitars were pre-recorded. you could notice obvious mismatch between their hands and the music, and all of the guitar cabinets were silent, hollow fakes. at one of the gigs, wayne was moving around the stage being a dumbass, didn't make it back to the mic in time, and the vocals started without him.

i heard they actually play live now, but even still, you are wasting your money if you pay for their music, since it's not very good.

Bands like Static X will never be hard core favorites of mine, but I do pick up their dics, because there is always at least something to like...even if it is just for a week.

imo most of the vocal "melody" sounds the same as his shit on death trip, only the speed of his "singing" is slower.

these guys were cool like...Ummm.. 10 YEARS AGO...
Wisconsin deathtrip and Machine are the ONLY 2 good cds.. After that all sounded the same, although I do find it interesting that they now finally added a lead guitarist, oh well.. ( sigh)

Static-X is great live (and they do actually sing and play themselves, it isn't prerecorded). Should be a great dvd.

COMMENT | interesting about the supposed prerecorded action

Watching these guys on the Extreme Steel tour(opening for Pantera), I remember thinking how they sounded waaay too perfect. I'd NEVER heard such a crisp clean bottom end in my 20+ years of going to shows. Makes sense though. And WDT was solid, but most of their stuff does sound the same.
