MÖTLEY CRÜE: Photos, Video Footage Of 'Guitar Center' Press Conference Available - July 31, 2008
MÖTLEY CRÜE held a press conference earlier today (Thursday, July 31) to announce the launch of "Guitar Center On-Stage" — Your Chance To Make Rock History. Check out a short video clip of the event below. Photos can be found at Getty Images.

"Guitar Center On-Stage" and the world's most notorious rock band will provide one up-and-coming band the ultimate, career-altering opportunity — the chance to open on tour for rock icons MÖTLEY CRÜE. Starting today, through September 21 2008, bands across the United States are invited to submit their music at www.makerockhistory.com for a chance to win a prize package that includes an opening slot on MÖTLEY CRÜE's 2009 U.S. tour (dates to be announced at a later date), $25,000 cash, $20,000 in exclusive new gear from Gibson Guitar, management from Tenth St. Entertainment, and a recording deal from Eleven Seven Music, MÖTLEY's management and record label.

is getting mad press (that's how Tommy would phrase it I think).

Bands from the 80's getting press like this, like S Bach, and especially the Rock of Love show, Michael Sweet in Boston - It's making our generation more acceptable - It's a good thing.

What's NOT helping - Def Leppard

who gives a fuck when a band started??? Maiden is a 80's band also, and Metallica, Megadeth and many more, and all of the used to dress like asshole just like anyone did in the 80's. but at least people had fun then, the werent depressed about nothing like people in the 90's.
and now everything is getting banned.
if the music is good then it doesnt matter how old or when you where most popular or whatever. The Crue are great live and have just put out a good album wich getter better with every listen so good for them.

...is it like "make poverty history"? Will the bands suck so much that it will kill rock? just like the other bands they take with them on tour?

Sounds familiar.....Oh wait, didn't Ozzy do that just a few years ago? The only difference, Ozzy actually aired his on tv .

Let's see......OzzFest - Cruefest; Unknown band opening for Ozzy on Ozzfest - Unkown band opening for Motlley. Both 80's icons, toured together, and friends.

Not too ground-breaking, IMO
