GEORGE LYNCH 'Sets The Record Straight' Regarding Possible DOKKEN Reunion
- Aug. 4, 2008
|
|
Co-host Red and intern Jim Bob of the "Rockin Metal Revival" show recently conducted an interview with former DOKKEN lead guitarist George Lynch. When asked about the possibility of a DOKKEN reunion with him on guitar, Lynch said, "I did an interview yesterday with Metal Hammer [magazine] in Europe and the guy had just spoken to Don [ Dokken]. And Don's response to that same question was the interviewer told me was that this is all coming from George, nobody else has any interest. Now that is absolutely not true. The actual truth is that, yes, my management company has been instrumental in encouraging this to happen, and I'm all for it. But everybody else has agreed in principle at three different occasions over the past few years at looking into doing this to try to put it together and have it make sense. And for various reasons it has not happened. But to characterize this as I'm the one that is pounding the table, and everyone else is reluctant astronauts is completely false. My management company would get a hold of Don and he'd say, 'Yeah, I'm down. Let's see what we can put together.' We've tried to put various tours together and recording sessions together and different reformations and all that, we've had VH1 on board, our own show, record deals, reasonably good tours and other things. For one reason or another, it doesn't happen in the 11th hour. And that's OK, but he mischaracterized it and was being untruthful about that. Just to set the record straight, I'm always down. Of course, this is a business, and I'd love to see some closure of the DOKKEN thing for myself, the fans, and the band before I hang my guitar up." To hear the entire interview go to www.rmrshow.com (the interview is in hour #3 of the latest show).

was never anything more than an overrated Eddie Van Halen wannabe. go back to your anti-Dokken rants and how much you hated your whole career with that band, or did you forget that you said all that?

Sounds to me like "somebody" is trying to make this NOT happen... I think Don's happy with George ver 2.0 that he is able to boss around.

I love dokken but am sick of hearing about a reunion, back in the day we had to read about how they hated each other so why go thru with a sham of a reunion for the fans when we would know it's all about the money anyway. and the new version don has out sounds like the old dokken so why go thru all the turmoil again?

George had a different style than Eddie. If you cannot tell the difference between them, get a clue. But both are great players. Not a big fan of Dokken though.

The actual truth is that, yes, my management company has been instrumental in encouraging this to happen, and I'm all for it. It's also true that my management company are constantly threatening to drop my sorry ass if this does not happen. And OK, sure, I may call Don's house at really late hours in the night crying. It's also somewhat true that the police have been called to remove me from Jeff Pilsons doorstep a few times. And OK, yeah, I have been sending gifts to Wild Mick Brown as of late. But to say that this all comes from me is just totally untrue! How could someone make this stuff up? Those wacky reluctant astronauts!

It is always fascinating to witness the hatred of individuals meeting the love of dollars. Which will win? How many dollars are enough to make me stand next to this guy? Always an epic battle between the immovable object and the undeniable force. DPDave.com

Man oh man, I am a fan of this music, but this gun has travelled.
Don's voice isn't what it used to be, and quite frankly Jon Levin already showed us what a new Dokken record could sound like with Lynch on board. Average tunes with above average guitar work.
George is better off doing his Lynch Mob thing than going back to Dokken. I would rather hear some new Lynch Mob tunes with Oni Logan, George Lynch and Tommy Aldridge, than anything from the Dokken camp.
George would just be wasting his time going back to Dokken. We already got out closer with the Back For the Attack Album. Let sleeping dogs like already.

First of all, George Lynch is by far the best guitarist around! Jon Levin is good but there is no comparison! I met George on 7 occassions - all of which, he was a down to earth, top notch guy! I met Don Dokken 2 times and he is an arrogant, pompous ass ! If you do your homework and read all the statements Lynch has made over the last 4 years, it says exactly the same thing - Don Dokken is bi-polar or something and one minute states he would like to do a reunion, then says he doesnt! Slams Lynch one day, then compliments him the next!! He likes the chemistry with Levin and that is fine - but do not compare Levin to Lynch because Dokken has NOT been the same since Lynch left !! The new Dokken may have made the top 20 but in my opinion, it sucks!!! BRING BACK LYNCH TO DO ANOTHER DOKKEN CD - Otherwise, I will listen to SOULS OF WE, LYNCH MOB and LYNCH/PILSON -- Don, you can go fuck yourself .....

I agree with the above poster, Don Dokken's voice is shot !!!! I saw them in Tampa a few weeks ago and he is horrible !!! And for him to fire Jeff Martin ????? It just shows how much of an asshole Don is !!! In fact, read the article on the internet about what John Norum thought about Don Dokken !!!! HE HATES HIM !!!! So, Don has few friends - his voice is shot and he has a problem with not letting things go !!!! Lynch, you are better off with London and Oni! And the Police never removed Lynch from Pilson's front door steps, that I know for a fact is BS !!!!

Dokken is fine without Lynch. On the other half Lynch is alright without Dokken. I think Jon Levin is doing a fantastic job and should be respected in the position he's in right now.

I NEVER thought I would say this, but what we wanted from a possible reunion - A great, classic sounding Dokken album - We got from Don and Levin.
I would hate to see George come in and ruin the current setup. I think we can expect a great next album from Dokken. If George came back - Probably not so much.

I bet Motley Crus STILL outsells whatever bands you listen to. But seriously, who cares if it 'makes a comeback' or not. As long as it exists US fans are happy.
