WOLFMOTHER No More?

According to Undercover News, a split has occurred between WOLFMOTHER singer/guitarist Andrew Stockdale and the other two founding members of the Australian hard rock band, Chris Ross and Myles Heskett. Manager John Watson told Undercover News, "Unfortunately, I can't make any comment other than to say that as soon as the band has clear future plans they will issue a statement and we hope to be able to do that in the next week or two." Tim Cashmere from Undercover News witnessed an uneasy distance and tension between Stockdale and the other two members during the Splendour In The Grass performance over the weekend and now people involved with the band have told Undercover that we will probably never see them together again. "That was it," one insider told Undercover. "That was their last show. It is all over for WOLFMOTHER." WOLFMOTHER's first live DVD, "Please Experience Wolfmother: Live", was released in North America in November 2007 via Interscope. The disc is a live recording of the band's Sydney homecoming in 2006 at the Hordern Pavilion. Bonus features include further live performances from Brixton Academy and the ARIA Awards ceremony, plus five promo videos and "Meet the Mother", an exclusive introduction to the band.

The sheer amount of hype that followed them around was deafening, and I have to image very stressful for the band as a whole AND for Stockdale (singer/songwriter/guitarist/focal-point).
I'm sad that it all came crashing down so soon.

...I won't have to look at that ridiculous afro on that bugger. That would be my only complaint on WM. Of course, the CD is compressed as shit, too! Hard to listen to music that is that blasted onto disc...it hurts the brain AND ears.
....again, no more hair to look at. Only Devin Townshend's 'hair' is worse.

Kingdom Come. Put out a decent Zep ripoff in the late 80's, but after Plant did Now and Zen and Manic Nirvana, the world realized that they didn't need them. Now that there is a possibility that Zep may tour, Wolfmother isn't waiting to get shitcanned. They're shitcanning themselves. Maybe they can reform in 5 years for the triumphant Dokken world Holiday Inn tour.

Wolfmother ROCKED! Hey they're entitled to wear there influences on there sleeves. There are alot of worse bands out there that need to dry up and blow away..but I don't wanna piss off any Flobot fans out there (oops) as far as Mike Patton goes....FNM thats it for me Mr. Bungle eh....Tomahawk - Phantomas???? Arrrgh! Sorry I guess I'm just not on that "cool eclectic train" Mike Patton has a good voice...but that dude is WAAAY over rated. yeah there are worse bands out there, but hey dumbfuck, before you badmouth mike patton, try listening to the album he rewcorded with the DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN! easily one of the best albums ever made, talent, music and everything else included! Plus the combination of him and Dave Lombardo in Fantomas was amazing....also learn how to spell FANTOMAS!

Can't say I'm all that surprised since they did spend most of the past year and a half under the radar (only to surface from time to time to remind everyone that they were fans of the Beastie Boys and Beck first before they had heard of Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin) and during that time, Airbourne and Spiritual Beggars stole their crown anyway.
Still, "Woman" and "White Unicorn" rocked solid balls. Sad to see it come to this for Wolfmother but thanks for the decent debut CD.

no wolfmother bashing unless you've seen them in cocnert. handsdown the most energetic band i've ever seen.
and as usual, people are trying to pigeonhole them by just looking at their singles, which were not their best songs, but also the only way they got to where they were in the first place.

I think that Wolfmother are alright. I don't have any of their albums, never plan on purchasing any of their albums, never saw them live, and never plan on seeing them live but their sound was OK at time. I am glad that they have been under the radar as that Godawful song "Mother" hasn't been played on my local radio station for a good 5 months now.
So right now, I am happy if they break up just so I don't have to hear that song "Woman."
