New Renaissance Records is warning people that only 1,000 copies of the CD will be available to the general public, making the release a sure-fire collector's item. After that time the album will be available on iTunes only.

Pre-orders are being accepted as of August 7, 2008, on a first-come first-serve basis with an anticipated ship date of August 15, 2008.

Based in Kalamazoo, Michigan, MEDIEVAL emerged on the metal scene in 1984 by contributing its song "Medieval" to Metal Blade Records' "Metal Massacre IV" compilation series. Response from the compilation appearance prompted New Renaissance to offer the band a full recording contract in 1985, starting with a self-titled 12-inch EP.

In 1986 MEDIEVAL contributed "World War Four" to New Renaissance's "Speed Metal Hell" compilation. A full-length album entitled "Medieval Kills" followed in 1987.

In the 1980s MEDIEVAL was either hated or loved by the metal scene. According to New Renaissance, "Because the band members did not have long hair, let alone 'big hair,' many journalists refused to consider the band 'metal.' For the same reason many of the radio stations' program directors would not pass along MEDIEVAL's albums to the metal shows, and instead considered them as a punk band." Twenty years later, however, MEDIEVAL vinyl albums regularly sell for $100 or more on auction sites.

Got the 2 demos they put out - there's a couple of songs on there that won't be on this CD. And Anvil Chorus is in mixing mode for their CD as well. What a good day for Metal!

COMMENT | Sorr ThrashMonger the Medieval Press comment is correct.

Whoa dude. The Medieval Press release is totally accurate on the cost of there Demo Cassette albums on auction sites. Your comment was just a case of you NOT KNOWING WHAT THE FUCK YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT.

Anyone with half a brain would start Medieval DEMO CASSETTE auctions at or over the $100.oo dollar mark. I used to always update my copies of those, and when I find them on eBay, they always are going for top dollar.

The comment was not hype, but true acutal historic facts !!!

LONG LIVE MEDIEVAL !!!!

Myself I am a total fan of this band, and in order for you to decide if you want this rare CD from New Reinassance Records.

Here is the relevant info...Medieval's brand of metal is a cross between Motorhead and vintage Holocaust (first LP on Neat Records), with there own originality.

I already ordered my copy of this with out any hesitation, since I have been waiting for this repress onto CD for around 20 years + now.

just look at gemm.com if you have any doubts about how much the New Renaissance Records pressings of Medieval are going for

I talked to Ann Boleyn a long time ago about Medieval and she was trying to promote them but the radio stations and magazines ignored them because they didn't look like 1980s posers and didn't have long hair. A couple years ago she answered an e-mail and said that only one very small pressing was ever done of either of the Medieval releases . She said most of what the label pressed was either given away for promotion or warped from age.

Nice to see it coming out. and nice to see the guys finally getting some well deserved credit.

Yeah the Medieval EP and LP were done in small press runs. Because New Renissance distrubtor was Important Records, and it was going under because The Parent Company Relativity wanted to fold that division of the company, because Relativity at the time, was just pressing everything on to cassette, LP and CD just for the sake of just pressing music, with no concern for quality, authenticity or originality of what they were signing or liscening or imprinting.

This band was ignored by the poseur divison of the metal movement back in 1983, 1984 with there cassette demos and in 1986 and 1987 with there EP and LP, but they were covered where it counted back then in metal's glory days of authentic heavy metal, in Bob Muldowney's Kick*Ass Monthly Magazine.

So it was no concern to me that they were not covered in second tier, second rate publications such as Metal Forces or Kerrang !!!

Excellent post killbridge !!!!

LONG LIVE MEDIEVAL !!!!
