A 40-plus-city North American amphitheater tour, Crüe Fest '08 is scheduled to wrap August 31 at the Post-Gazette Pavilion in Pittsburgh.

Bassist Nikki Sixx of MÖTLEY CRÜE previously stated about the trek, "We are SO excited not only to headline our own annual summer festival, but also to be able to share the stage with the next generation of great rock bands. There's not a lot MÖTLEY CRÜE hasn't done so to say this summer's festival is going to be about rock 'n roll excess is an understatement. A night of hit songs by great bands and a trail of panties coast to coast ... Crüe Fest, hell yeah!"

That jones beach show had a little more than that at least 10,000 .definatley one of the best shows this summer along with Metal Masters. Anyway the numbers are still very good they are averaging around 12,000. Pretty damn good size. Any how the Crue rock as well as SOLA.

Detroit (well, Clarkston) sells out again. And it's got the shittiest economy in the country.

the biggest thing I miss about living in Michigan are going to shows in the metro Detroit area.

Wow , I thought they would be near capacity at every venue considering the amount of media attention they get.

Looks like thier heading down the same path as kiss after the big success of the first reunion, shit gets old fast!

next tour in 2 yrs will be drawing poison numbers, take that to the bank!

they should rename this flopfest!

...but not good!
When Maiden came through, they blew those numbers out of the water!

Then again...maybe it's cause Maiden had Laura Harris opening and not Papa Roach! haha NOT!

Okay, in black and white it may look a bit embarrassing, but that's still an arena-sized crowd in every town, which is pretty fucking good considering most bands from their era are playing county fairs or clubs

Motley are still some way off treading the Kiss path: at least they've still got the original line-up AND are bothering to record and release new stuff (which in the case of the title track alone is equal to the best stuff in their back catalogue). I'd be happy if they laid it to rest after this though: another Sixx AM album would be great and the other three could just fuck around for their rest of their lives

On a show that grosses 389 000 how much of that goes into one band member of the crue? No merch, just ticket sales. And also the back up bands. Are they paid already, regardless how many tix are sold? Anybody know?

compare these numbers along side Judas Priest's Metal Masters Tour with Heaven and Hell, Motorhead, and Testament. To me it's an easy choice, I'm going to see Priest and Heaven and Hell (Black Sabbath)!!!!!!!!!!!

Seems to me these figures are strong, any band averaging over 10k per night is a great achievement with the economy for shows being slow. Sure some of these places have capcities of 25k but I am not sure which level of bands other than say Metallica could fill those kinds of numbers night after night?

These figures are actually pretty damn good. Nobody is really doing great attendance numbers this summer. Because people are just totally priced out due to the high gas prices and ridiculously high ticket prices as well as the high cost of everything else. Even artists that usually do huge numbers every year are down a lot this summer.

Here's an article that was in RollingStone last month that explains what's happening this summer.

The other factor keeping people away on top of the ridiculous ticket prices are the even more ridiculous fees Ticketmaster likes to add to each ticket.

For a $70 ticket you end up paying around $100 after the sales tax, the Convenience charge, Processing fee, Building maintenance fee and whatever other charge Ticketmaster feels like adding.

Plus alot venues charge $15 to $20 to park your car.

I don't understand why these tours are booked into such big sheds, don't you have the mid size arenas (10,000 - 12,000) stateside?

If they pulled these numbers in the UK & European arenas they would it would be close to sell out at every show

jeez even poisin does these numbers consistently in nj!
new jersey/new york is the easiest place for metal bands to sell out or draw near capacity and flopfest drew only 11,000 , when just a few yrs ago they sold out madison square garden which hold near 20,000 !!!

I forgot, how many people do you and your band play for every night????

Exactly! So shut the fuck up!! UNtil you can draw an average of 10,000 people every night at a concert, you have no idea what is pathetic or not!

I get so tired of all these people always saying that Motley Crue are not "relevant", which is a stupid term anyway. Like I said, they average over 10,000 in attendance every night, their selling records, like em or not, you hear about them everyday, they have sold over 80 million records, everytime a thread comes on BM a ton of people post - good or bad they still post. So it sounds to me like they are pretty fucking relevant if you ask me!

Let's get something straight. Who gives a SHIT about statistics? Who sells more than who? David Hasselhoff sells better than Papa Roach in Japan so he is "BETTER".

Yeah, Motley Crue sells but that doesn't make them necessarily relevant. What I mean is, they have about 5 people that hate them to every fan that likes them. Even if they are somewhat relevant, many wish they wouldn't be. I'm not saying that I'm one of those people either. The Crue are alright to me. There are many much better bands but they're decent.

Anyway, if people want to sit there and judge the talent of a band based on their sales, then they are mistaken. That just means that all those lip synching boy and girl bands who never wrote a song in their lives and David Hasselhoff are "BETTER" than. What a stupid way to judge the quality of a band. Some bands are promoted more by their labels simply because the LABELS think that they can make these bands good. Therefore, these performers are promoted and shown EVERYWHERE when some real musicians do not get any exposure because they are undiscovered or the LABELS don't feel like promoting them. Who the fuck are the labels anyway? I'll tell you:Businessman who know NOTHING about the art of music!!

I like plenty of well known bands but it ain't cause they're well known, it's because I think they're good. Counting sales is not necessarily an indication of how good a performer is and I've given several examples and can keep going on and on; HOWEVER, this is subjective, of course.

Is Limp Bizkit and Poison and Linkin Park and Creed better than Sabbath and Priest because they sold millions only within a few albums being put out?? Of course, not!

I just think it is so absurd to judge the quality of a band by their sales! Pop music is synthetically hand picked and created by the labels in order to appeal to the consumers OF pop music who are usually teenage girls. Yea, there's some stats for ya! Doesn't mean that these cheese bands are better than the greats of classical, jazz, blues, and rock!

I've never heard a rapper writing their own damn music. They copy it from others and sample it in their songs. The rapper ends up selling more than the real musicians who made the damn music because that's all MTV and VH1 play! Rock is making a comeback at least...
