TWISTED SISTER Frontman Confirms 'Twisted Christmas - A Musical' Is In The Works - Aug. 14, 2008
TWISTED SISTER singer Dee Snider has confirmed rumors that the group's "A Twisted Christmas" concept will make its way to Broadway (as BLABBERMOUTH.NET first reported on June 3). Speaking to Ralph Sutton of the nationally syndicated rock radio show "The Tour Bus" (web site), Snider revealed, "I have turned 'A Twisted Christmas', the album, into a musical, and in 2009 there will be a new TWISTED SISTER album, which will be a companion piece to go with the existing 'A Twisted Christmas' album. It's gonna be old-school metal songs that are an addition to the show. So 'The Twisted Christmas – A Musical' is a combination of the Christmas album, the new album, which will have new metal songs on it and the best of TWISTED SISTER throughout history. And when you hear more about it, you're gonna love the idea. The people that are hearing about it get pretty stoked. So it's early on, but I've finished the script and now it's time, we're gonna start working on a new album, new songs, so it's the first time for TWISTED SISTER in a very long time… I haven't written since 19… Man, '98 was the last time I wrote a song, and that was for the 'Strangeland' soundtrack. It sort of came out of left field, but we're all very fired up. When you hear the concept… everybody who hears it just smiles ear to ear and goes, 'Man, that's awesome.'"

He continued, "It's either gonna be called 'A Twisted Christmas…' or 'THE Twisted Christmas – A Musical'. It tells a story, but it's very much a concert event. But there's a storyline going on between. The show is about 20 songs. The band are the only actors. There is a narrator, I will tell you that much, who fills in the spaces — he's on video screen — and he tells — ala 'The Rocky Horror Picture Show', to be honest — he helps move the story along and tell the story. If you saw 'Hedwig and the Angry Inch', off Broadway, [a band] performs and then in between there is interaction, which further moves the story along. So it's pretty involved. It's a unique combination of things that have been done before and haven't been done before. And the goal, really — 'cause we're not playing ourselves, we're playing a fictitious band in the musical — eventually is to, like the BLUE MAN GROUP, have a whole bunch of casts out there during the holiday season performing the show. So that's the ultimate goal. So it's in development, but it's well on its way. Like I said, I finished the script, everybody loves it, and now I'm sinking my teeth into writing the album which we'll start recording in January/February for release in 2009."

On September 25, 2007, Razor & Tie Entertainment released "A Twisted Christmas Live", a DVD of TWISTED SISTER's holiday 2006 show at New Jersey's legendary Starland Ballroom. The DVD features performances of tunes from "A Twisted Christmas" (which features rock n' roll versions of beloved Christmas classics), as well as TWISTED SISTER's greatest hits.

The video for "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas", taken from the "A Twisted Christmas Live" DVD, is available for viewing below.

Almost makes me embarrased on their part... Santa has nothing to do with metal. SATAN on the other hand ;)

Seriously, this is such a bunch of bullshit!

What's next, the Judas Priest Hanukkah album?

-------------------------------------------------------------

...and why is it a bunch of bullshit? Cause it doesn't suit you? Metal has never had a formula, it can do whateer it wants. Metal is rebellious, which means Metal bands can experiment with any instrument and any style of music they want. You tell me what other genre can do that?

The day Metal stops being creative and does something out of the ordinary is the day the Metal will die. I praise bands like Twisted Sister and Judas Priest for stepping out of their comfort zones and doing something new and fresh.

Fans complain when Metallica changes, then they complain when AC/DC releases the same stuff over and over. Metal fans complain when KISS never releases new material, but then complain when bands DO release new material but it's not to their liking. Metal fans are never pleased. And I'm a Metal fan too, how embarrasing.

I look forward to this Twisted Sister idea and can't wait for new material too.

Oh and I love Christmas, and Jesus, and God too. I also love Heavy Metal. You don't need to be into Satan to love this music.

Dee - no one has given a fuck about you since 1985. You reunited your awful band and STILL no one gives a fuck.

They were supposed to call it quits, but then this little novelty Christmas record sold a little better than they expected, so now they're trying to revive their careers yet AGAIN!

Dude, know when to say when. People laugh at KISS at this point, but KISS - even scab KISS - draw 50 times the audience these fools do. They were terrible then and they're terrible now. GO HOME! RETIRE!

^^^ Isn`t it a bit of a contradiction to state that nobody gives a fuck about them and then comment on the fact the last album sold well???

And you seem to give a fuck enough to read about it and then add a comment!!

"Who told them that they were Trans Siberian Orchestra, anyway?"

Actually, Al Pitrelli from TSO did.

Dee was joking with Al about doing a Christmas album, and Al pointed out how they already had one song done. Then he showed Dee how "We're Not Gonna Take It" is the same chord progression as "Oh Come All Ye Faithfull" and off they went...to do a very well received and successful album.

Personally, I can't fucking wait to hear the new record. It won't be Christmas songs, and I hope it's hard and heavy like Under The Blade, or You Can't Stop Rock And Roll. Look out for this one...they'll show a bunch of these new bands how it's supposed to be done.

I've always said...anybody who doesn't like Twisted Sister has never seen them live. Go on bashers, admit it....you've never seen them live.....'cause they are absolutely one of the best fucking bands on the planet live.

@Majorgeek
Actually it's Daniel "Dee" Snider... not David!

While I don't care too much about that christmas shit... to this day I haven't bought that album... I very much like the idea of a new rock album! Can't wait!

"I've always said...anybody who doesn't like Twisted Sister has never seen them live. Go on bashers, admit it....you've never seen them live.....'cause they are absolutely one of the best fucking bands on the planet live."

And I totally have to agree... I've seen them live 10 times since '03 (the last being last week in Lillehammer) in front of audiences from anywhere between 1.000 and 20.000 people and every time they kicked ass!

People, who say that they are terrible, don't know what the fuck they are talking about!
