WES BORLAND Joins MARILYN MANSON - Aug. 14, 2008
Former LIMP BIZKIT/current BLACK LIGHT BURNS member Wes Borland has joined MARILYN MANSON as the group's new guitarist. The news was announced by Manson himself at a press conference earlier today ahead of his band's appearance tomorrow (Friday, August 15) at the ETP Festival in Seoul, Korea.

Manson said, "We have a new guitar player that's gonna play for the first time tomorrow; it's the first time we'll play on stage [together]. His name is Wes Borland and he used to be in a really terrible band that he left because he felt that it was a destructive force in art, and he has his own band, BLACK LIGHT BURNS, but now he is in MARILYN MANSON. We don't know how permanent that is, but starting tomorrow will be the first step. So this will be the most indestructible MARILYN MANSON."

Watch a clip of Manson talking about Wes Borland joining the band below. (Note: Borland's name is mentioned around the 2:40 mark.)

MARILYN MANSON is in the middle of recording a new album, which is expected to be released sometime next year.

Manson's longtime bassist, Twiggy Ramirez, toured with Manson earlier this year for the first time since 2002. The two co-wrote "Antichrist Superstar", "Mechanical Animals" and "Holy Wood (In the Shadow of the Valley of Death)" together and Manson told The Salt Lake Tribune this past spring that he couldn't be happier about Ramirez returning.

"I missed having my best friend," Manson said. "We were like brothers."

Actually, this could be the most hilarious thing ever! This could be the next Spinal Tap without trying! They will take themselves seriously while everyone else belly-laughs to the point of almost vomiting!

I guess you think that this marriage of non-talents is a good thing for heavy music (or even horrible music, as the case may be), so I can't take a horrendous joke from you seriously since you still apparently carry around a Marilyn Manson lunch box and wear a trench coat to your 8th year of high school (cheer up, you'll graduate one day). So I'll let you slide.

I hope the ham sandwich your mom made you tastes good and remember that she needs the car as soon as you get out of school even though that may make you late for your shift at Burger King.

I was just about to post exactly that. So ALL of you HATED Limp Bizkit back in 1999, did you? I think the balance of probability will prove most of you wrong, since they sold a shedload of records. When I was a youngster, Limp Bizkit sounded really heavy, mainly due to Borland - who was one of my favourite players for a long time. I have absolutely no shame in admitting that. They paved the way for wider acceptance of heavy music, there is no question about that.

History is written by the victors.

Explained Borland, "Hey, FRED did it all for the nookie. Not me. I was just riffing."

Does everyone know that Fred Durst directed that new Ice Cube movie where the little girl plays a quarterback? He's being totally low-profile about it, but there was a big story in last week's Entertainment Weekly. Not kidding.

this is just funny, and should be interesting. Borland is a decent guitarist who doesn't seem to have ever reached his potential....he can write riffs and create some nice atmosphere but I don't think he has ever put it all together yet. MM should give him a nice opportunity to do so.

Limp Bizkit's first 2 albums are really good....I don't care what the "tr00 metal" jackasses say. Fred Durst is a horrible rapper and average singer, but he was a great frontman and could scream his ass off. After their 2nd album when they got rich, Fred just wasn't angry anymore, and seems to have turned into a sissy who feels sorry for himself...hence no more good angry Fred music. Good to see he's making movies and such.

This is good news. I like Manson. I don't think he sounds like Alice Cooper much. I really liked AntiChrist and Mechanical and Holywood. Never heard the stuff after. However, those were great albums, esp Mechanical. I don't see what's go great about the simple, not that catchy riffs that Wes did with Bizkit except a couple. Bizkit after 3 Dollar, as we all know was just disgraceful.

I do have a good feeling though that something good could come out of this new lineup. Oh yeah, Manson live is an awesome experience. He blew me away on the Holywood tour at Ozzfest. Awesome stuff!

Yeah dude sure... I make 50k a year and don't even live in the same state as my Mom but ok nice try there... also nice touch comparing me to those Columbine guys it shows you are a real class act all the way. Anyways if you knew anything about musicianship you would know that Wes Borland is actually a talented guitar player. Judge him on Bizkit if you want but outside of that the man has skills. As for MM if you think he doesn't know what talented musicians are then you are as stupid as I think you are. Listen to any John 5 solo album and tell me he sucks... Basically you are some pathetic hack who comes on here trashing bands you don't like and the fans that do like them. I like MM and have since 1993 and thats my opinion as a person... I am sure there are a few metal bands you like that I think blow but I am not going to look like some tool and troll on a message board. My opinion of you doesn't change after you pathetic attempt at a put down... you are an idiot plain and simple.

"Limp sucked after 3 dollar"

Sorry folks, those of us old enough to remember back then knew that album sucked too. And that the band sucked and were about to sell more records than God anyway.

Same with Manson... he was funny when they were a local band (Manson and the Spooky Kids) that everyone made fun of, and Portrait had a couple songs i enjoyed at age 15 when it came out, but everything after sucks. I didnt know any better cause in '94 at age 15 i was into just mainstream stuff like Metallica, Slayer, Nirvana, Pantera, NIN, etc. what's your excuse in 2008, 15 year olds of today?
