AC/DC: 'Black Ice' Artwork, Track Listing Unveiled - Aug. 18, 2008
Columbia Records has set an October 20 release date for AC/DC's widely anticipated "Black Ice", the band's first studio album in eight years. "Black Ice" (see artwork below) features 15 new tracks from brothers Angus and Malcolm Young, Brian Johnson, Cliff Williams, and Phil Rudd. The album was recorded in Vancouver in just eight weeks with producer Brendan O'Brien, who has previously worked with PEARL JAM, BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN and VELVET REVOLVER, among others.

"Rock 'N Roll Train", the album's first single, will debut on August 28. A source at Harddrive Radio described it as "smoking hot. It's AC/DC like we love them, loud, anthemic and hard!" The video will premiere in September.

"Black Ice" track listing:

01. Rock 'N Roll Train
02. Skies On Fire
03. Big Jack
04. Anything Goes
05. War Machine
06. Smash 'N Grab
07. Spoilin' For A Fight
08. Wheels
09. Decibel
10. Stormy May Day
11. She Likes Rock 'N Roll
12. Money Made
13. Rock 'N Roll Dream
14. Rocking All The Way
15. Black Ice

"Black Ice" will be sold in the U.S. exclusively at Wal-Mart and Sam's Club retail locations at the special price of $11.88. Online, the CD will be available with free shipping and handling via the band's web site, www.acdc.com. It will also be sold at Walmart.com and Samsclub.com.

As one of America's largest music retailers, Wal-Mart will join with Columbia Records to launch multiple activities for fans in celebration of the new CD album, including new product features and promotions to come this fall that will bring fans closer to one of history's greatest rock bands.

"Like all excited fans of AC/DC, we can hardly wait for the launch of this album and all that will surround it," said Gary Severson, Wal-Mart's senior vice president of Entertainment. "We promise there will be a multitude of opportunities for fans of all ages to get involved and 'rock again' as we count down to October 20."

"No Bull: The Director's Cut", a newly edited, comprehensive DVD and of the band's famed July 1996 Plaza De Toros De Las Ventas concert in Madrid, Spain, will be released on DVD and Blu-ray September 9, 2008.

"Black Ice" is AC/DC's first new studio effort since 2000's "Stiff Upper Lip".

The legendary rockers are slated to begin an 18-month world tour in October, with the trek reportedly kicking off on around Halloween in Chicago.

The 1977 AC/DC song "Let There Be Rock" will be featured in the new Rock Band 2 video game, due out in September. This will mark the band's first and so far only contribution to a video game soundtrack.

Their classic days are likely over, though.

I assume that these activities will be rather tame, without swearing and all. Are euphemisms allowed?

@JJJB: I take it you haven't heard an album since 1980? Step into the 21th century and try Stiff Upper Lip. You'll love it.

had about 4 killer tracks:
Hard, The Furher (killer, killer track; if Brian had his early 80s voice, this would be mindblowing), the title track, Burning Alive and maybe another. solid album. their strongest in years.

the cover is kinda cool. a bit photoshopped but the good bits are more classic and less cartoony than i feared. kinda a bit like the Rules Of Hell.

cheers.

Obviously, jackasses, the Wal-mart deal ALLOWS you to buy a 15 song FULL CD for only $11.88-

C'mon now, that's about $6 less than normal, this thing is almost a double album.

AC/DC to the masses.

I can see it now, Aunt's and Grandma's seeing the display. From Uncle Jim to Cousin Tony, every mother fucker will have a copy of this thing.

By the way,

AC/DC never were really "in the know" sort of speak and combining that with their current older age, they are getting kinda corny.

"Stormy May Day"

Are you fucking kidding me?

All the "Rock N Roll" names, fuck, who do they think they are?

"Smash N' Grab"
"Wheels"

Fucking "Wheels"? Who writes this shit? Angus and Brian are fucking old simpletons at this point.

This might be a comedy album.

Ha Ha Ha!

Yesterday I was in a Record store and they had on XM radio - absolutely horrible - same old classic metal songs - the ones you've heard a million times (Paranoid etc) and 'I put the finger on you' came on. I remember how disappointing that stuff was after Back in Black. Put the finger is not Metal nor Hard Rock, but it could be considered dance music (and it's not as good as 'Don't go breaking my heart' by Elton John/Kiki Dee!)

I guess it could sound like it a silly name (because of the rhyming), but it's not that bad when you put it in context. That song name makes sense when you consider that AC/DC hail from Australia (although I'm pretty sure that they've all lived overseas for a while now), as May is the last season before winter hits down here.

is a great song. loved it in 82 and still today.

do you think it's a dance or pop song because it's got a beat that's upbeat?
it's light years away from pop like "I was made for lovin' you" (still a decent song, by Kiss). it's hard rock. rock is Bryan Adams or Springsteen. and who fucking cares what label it fits under anyways.

it's got great riffs and singing.

you may not like it but i bet a lot of fans do.

if anyone's still reading this old thread.

cheers.

dude, quote for me one comment in this thread that declares this album "amazing" please.

people are just commenting on the cover and the song titles. any references to music are phrased like "i sure hope this sounds like..."

hope is not the same as judgment.

relax.

currently just got done listening to their single Rock N' Roll Train, honestly i have to say i'm not very impressed, but i never really got into AC/DC growing up, i just found them too overrated, but I do find their new album cover of "Black Ice" very creative and nicely done.
