DISTURBED's DAN DONEGAN Answers 15 Questions; Video Available - Aug. 18, 2008
Guitarist Dan Donegan of Chicago's DISTURBED recently answered 15 questions for the official Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival YouTube channel. Watch the four-minute chat below.

DISTURBED has set a record for the longest-running No. 1 track in the history of Mediabase's Active Rock chart with "Inside the Fire", the lead-off single from its gold-certified album "Indestructible". The track was No. 1 for 14 weeks at Active Rock Radio and also No. 1 on the BDS/Billboard Active Rock Radio chart for 15 weeks.

"Inside the Fire", which was released digitally on March 25, is DISTURBED's sixth No. 1 single at Active Rock, and the band's fastest-rising chart-topper to date. The band's previous No. 1 Active Rock singles are "Down With The Sickness", "Prayer", "Liberate", "Stricken" and "Land of Confusion". The second single from "Indestructible", the title track, hits radio this week.

DISTURBED is currently on the road co-headlining this summer's Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival tour through August 19, before heading overseas to tour Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and Europe through the end of the October.

Never really got into these guys. I actually returned the first album as I felt there were many fillers. I like a few tunes by them but they aeem to be huge everywhere. The firm I work at even has Disturbed fans in their 40's! Imagine that, rich executives cranking out Disturbed in their BMW's going down the LIE on their way to work at 6:00am!

A lot of people seem to really hate Disturbed too. It seems like it is in fashion to say that they are not "real" metal or "nu"-metal. I never got into that whole thing, I simply just never really thought they were that great. A lot of the riffs sound the same with that da da da da da da dadada da da da da dada da da da da dada riding on the e-chord with the palm mute. Every song does that but the rhythm pattern is slighly altered in each song. Sevendust tends to do the same. Then there is the melodic chorus that seems to appeal to everyone (or not). That really seems to be the songwriting formula for these guys with, of course, the typical pop song structures. These guy definitely do not structure their songs like Opeth, RUSH, or Tool, that's for sure. That isn't always a bad thing either. I just think that bands like Disturbed, Godsmack, and Creed have too many fillers in the albums. I never understood that. Being a signed artist really isn't a tough job. You have time to write an album, why not make EVERY song really good?? These guys are blessed with the most fun job someone could have. It's recreational activity that they're getting paid for. If I knew the right people, I'd do it on a second if I knew for sure that I'd have a steady, stable career!

People tend to think that because a band is signed and having some success that any other musician that is in a different position and isn't signed is a burger flipper but that isn't the case. ALL of these guys were working some shit jobs before they were signed. Some of them STILL do. Doesn't mean that they won't have their time in the sun though. I know plenty of amazing songwriters out there who can write the hits but don't really know who to go to and don't care that much. Whatever.

the dude writes some great riffs ! There's about 5 or 6 songs on every album I like which is more than I can say for the last shit Megadeth album.

I'm sure Dan Donegan is a swell guy and all but the length from the top of his forehead to his eyebrows exceeds 2 Ft. Quite a large cranium. I'm sure the groupies love it.
