It's Official: CARLOS CAVAZO To Replace JOHN CORABI In RATT
- Aug. 18, 2008
|
|
Following weeks of rumors and speculation, RATT drummer Bobby Blotzer has confirmed that former QUIET RIOT guitarist Carlos Cavazo will be joining the group as the replacement for rhythm guitarist John Corabi (former MÖTLEY CRÜE singer). According to Blotzer, "we have been rehearsing with Carlos and it sounds pretty freakin cool. He'll be playing his first show with us in Baton Rouge, Lousiana on August 27. Then New Orleans on August 28; Houston, August 29; Calgary, Canada, August 31. So come on out to the show and rock with us!! Crab [ Corabi] has one last show that he's committed to with us on September 5 in Virginia Beach." Hard Rock Hideout has posted video footage (see below) of RATT's August 7, 2008 performance at the Annie's Entertainment Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. RATT celebrated the "Year Of The Ratt" with a very special West Coast U.S. run of dates in April. In honor of their Southern California roots, the band embarked on a four-show mini-tour to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the "Ratt" EP. RATT recently performed the entire EP along with other RATT faves live on the nationally syndicated radio show "Rockline" to an overwhelming response. Host Bob Coburn expressed that he was "totally blown away" by RATT and that they "flat-out kicked ass" as they delivered one of the best shows in the 27 years of "Rockline".

Perhaps the vocalist slot for Velvet Revolver? I think he would be a great addition to VR. Either way, I wish him the best, he is a top shelf vocalist and a good bloke as well

Too bad this guy can't find the right gig. I thought the Crue was a respectable band with him. Couple of turds aside, that was a good album. If it were original Ratt playing the original EP, that would be cool for a night. Other than that, former QR hack in a washed up former shadow of itself Ratt? Come on! Getting weaker by the minute boys. I think I might rather get all nostalgaic & go see Poison instead. Where's Lynch Mob? Saw Extreme the other night & Gary is still Gary acting all gay, but great pipes & Nuno is Nuno; frigging awesome. King's x is so underappreciated; the talent in that band is amazing & news flash; they rock. Way better than any of this garbage out today. Welcome back Laaz Rockit, new Opeth is good, but screw that death vocal shit & I finally found my Wargasm cd from 199- what have you - UGLY!

I'm somewhat of a Ratt fan from back in the day (always dug Warren's playing), but Crabby's playing 2nd banana to 2 guys in this band, & he's too great a talent for that. I also agree 100% with the King's X = underappreciated comment.

Warren DeMartini is one of the tastiest lead guitar players I've ever heard...one of the best.
Corabi is absolutely great on Motley Crue '94 and I hope he joins VR or better yet replaces Vince Neil again...wishful thinking. Maybe another Union album?
King's X is truly an amazing band and deserve to be huge. Saw them in NYC w/Extreme - great set but way too short. Check out The Mob (w/Reb Beach) and Supershine (w/Bruce Franklin from Trouble) 2 great side projects w/ Doug Pinnick's vocals.

Yeah, I wish all the best to Corabi also. Love his work on Crue 94 and I felt that he was obviously under-acheiving in his role with Ratt but at the same time it was an easy gig for steady and I'd imagine pretty decent pay in a familiar work environment. I've always been huge on Quiet Riot man so glad Carlos Cavazo was able to land this gig. He'll fit right in with those guys and hopefully help Ratt keep it going for 10 or more years.

I think it's an interesting move. I don't think Carlos will be rhythm only. He'll be soloIng here and there and if they record a new CD together, watch out! Corabi should resurrect The Scream. Man In The Moon is an awesome track!

for the guy who sang on Motley Crue's only good album he has been in some shitty ass bands. Ratt sucks dick and always has, and are in no way metal. whoever says he should be the new Velvet Revolver singer, that would be a better gig than this!

#1metalhead: You're a fucking idiot.
Warren is great - you are a tool... It is QUITE common for the sound sync to be off in youtube videos. The only "problem" is you say too much and know too little apparently.

There is a better chance of Ted Nugent being picked as Obama's running mate than Corabi being picked to sing in Velvet Revolver.
Outside of very dedicated hard rock fans (e.g. people who visit/post on blabbermouth) nobody knows who Corabi is. Casual rock fans don't remember Motley Crue 94, they've never heard of The Scream. To the casual rock fan he's an unknown. VR won't pick an unknown, because they want casual rock fans to buy their albums and concert tickets. I'm not saying it wouldn't be awesome, but it won't happen.

I like Ratt... But Corabi playing rhythm guitars only is a waste! The guy should be fronting one killer band (he did already - Crue94 ruled... unfortunally, it was a bad time for rock and metal)... VR would be great, but those dudes just want some modern singer... you know... from some trendy band, like Scott Faggy was...
But if they still have some pure rock and roll in their hearts, they should pick someone like Crab...

I wouldn't matter how much more talented Corabi is than whoever VR choses to be their lead singer because VR knows it would be shitty marketing for them to chose someone that has been in Ratt or Motley Crue.
VR has already stated that they don't want to be associated with old-school metal. Motley Crue has stated that they don't want to be assoaciated with glam metal or hair metal. KIND OF STRANGE IF YOU ASK ME.

i agree it won't happen and i agree it sucks. VR shouldn't be so concerned about going with 'a name' - THEY have the name. they should go with who would be best for their band. corabi is one of the greatest hard rock vocalist/guitarists and song writers out there. whatever he does i wish him the best. i'm glad he's done with ratt.

corabi has a great voice and needs to get back with or start another band in the vain of the scream or union. both great melodic hard rock bands. that crue record he did sucked and I don't care what anyone says it was not a true crue record. maybe if it had a different name I would have liked but as a motley record it sucked! sorry whether you hate Vince or not he is the voice of the crue so deal with it!

Don't put too much stock into that. Remember, anyone can edit Wikipedia. I could go in there and add a section that says he's the singer for Metallica. That said, if it were true that'd be pretty bizarre.

Corabi is a good musician and a good guy. Not to mention, he deserves a break after having misfortunes over the years - personal and professional.
RATT was my favorite glam band. Still are. I never liked Quiet Riot except for the song Metal Health.
King's X has always been underrated and really deserve to be heard more than they are.
Corabi with VR would be a good fit. The band also wouldn't have to cope with drama and BS of that sort.

Nobody mentioned how terrible Stephen Pearcy sounds in that video. He was never the greatest singer, but he sounds particularly like ass in that clip.
