AEROSMITH To Enter Studio In October - Aug. 19, 2008
According to The Boston Globe, legendary rockers AEROSMITH are heading back to the studio in October and will hit the road next spring. In the meantime, drummer Joey Kramer is staying busy with bluesman James Montgomery, playing dates as the KRAMER/MONTGOMERY BAND. "James has been around as long as we have, and we've always talked about playing together," Kramer told The Boston Globe. "He had a few dates and wondered if I'd be into it. I said, 'Sure.'" The gigs are September 12 at the Roxy and September 13 at the Academy of Music in Northampton.

You guys aren't fit to wash the stink outta Steven and Joe's socks. These guys are legends....Still making great music 25 years later. Not many singers can do what Tyler does at age 60.

THANK YOU. Well said! :) I love Aerosmith and can't wait for the new album and tour! When they came around last September they were amazing, as any Aerosmith fan would expect! They are a great band and always have been.

Tyler can still produce on stage at 60, and they are legends, but they're ruining their legacy but releasing the Jadeds, Don't wanna miss a thing", playing with Britney, all this rubbish. They continually state "we'll return to our roots on this album", but still bring in the song writers(Steven loves being in public eye, big hits), and writing this sappy pop music. This band used to ROCK! Granted, if they wrote on their own, it might be tired, like the STones, but at least they could hold their heads high & not kill their legacy. Kids now only know them for this crap. Take any of the 70's albums, 1st -Right in the Nuts, love 'em all!

Hey man, Voodoo Lounge was a decent and semi-recent Stones album, I'd rather Aerosmith go down swinging rather than take on songwriters...

Oh man - I would so love to see this band put out some material closer to the stuff that truly speaks of the Aerosmith that once was...a long time ago.

Most bands (these days) suck.

They haven't written their own material since Permanent Vacation. I'd rather have them do their own rock material than Celine Dion throw aways (I don't Want to Miss a Thing was offered to her first). Steven Tyler has been lip syncing for about as long.

even if they go at the song writing alone, there aren't many artists in their 50's/60 that are still creative as they were at their peak, in any art form...but they do seem to be one band that has stayed young sounding, looking. Live, they still can bring it, like no one else that age, in my opinion. Just these songs are just complete dribble. The low point being that "dont wanna miss a thing". Right, from get a grip on, but even the PUmp album, while good, starts to wear on me, Love in a Elevator(solo's decent), the ballad, its getting corny. But they have guys writing for them like Tommy Shaw(styx), guys that wrote for Bon JOvi, that's a resume I'd steer clear of. They caved in. Watching the Making of Pump, the bearded A&R guy tells them to make Janies got a gun more commercial. Should have told him to take a leap.

Go listen to Rock In A Hard Place & Done With Mirrors again, (or if you never have, for the 1st time). 2 practically forgotten gems (pun intended) these albums are. The last "honest" albums from 'smith IMO - Permanent Vacation wuz the beginning of the end. I wonder if they're worried they don't "still got it" since they got sober. (well sorta).

know Rock in a hard place & Mirrors well, the Geffen let them write Done with Mirrors & pick producer, then when it flopped they said no more, according to that book "walk this way". I like Rock in a hard place, some gems, but poorly produced, Steven is rough on it.(no Joe & Brad either). Done with Mirrors I liked at the time, but I do think it lacks now, songs & production. There are couple of decent tunes....true, Honkin' on BObo sounds great, it was what they do best, but all covers, and your right, it gave the record company more ammo to say "see, it didn't sell". They needed to do rock/blues songs of their own! Or if they got a writer, not a writer that is also writing for Celine Dion! I think at their age, they probably aren't going to write their "Rocks". What older band has a classic album in their 50's? anyone? But to a man, the fans are pretty much begging them to stop the pop crap. other than the little girls....some young punk is gonna hear "combination" & ask "who's this rippin' band"?

I do really like rock in a hard place. songs like Joanie's butterfly, the song after that(forget the title, its been so long..."Jig's up"?), bitches brew etc. Not really a bad song on it, its just very rough, production is sloppy, but they were rough & sloppy at that point. Tyler's voice sounds shredded, but definitely the songs are there. I have to agree with Done with Mirrors, songs like Sheila & Gypsy are like demo throw aways. I liked it at the time, but listen now & some of the songs just are too basic, bad lyrics.

Mainly a fan of the older stuff - have seen them live about 5 times , all 5 times they rate between a 4 and 5 for being live. They just never seem to have that cool live music thing going on.

I've not loved an Aerosmith album since Done With Mirrors (although every one since then has had its moments). But if any band can surprise us, it's this one - especially as they were better than ever on tour last year. Steven and Joe in particular were phenomenal (I saw 'em on the Pump tour too, and they were waaay better this time)

Plus you've got to respect 'em (and the Stones, and Alice) for actually going to the trouble of recording new stuff, coz I think it proves (or at least strongly implies) that they're not just doing it for the money and nostalgia, unlike a certain other band from that era who I can't mention coz JRSPON's on this thread (hey dude)

well, they are in it big time for the $$, hence doing the crap pop & playing with Britney Spears, selling to Dodge, but its cool they aren't completely touring on Nostalgia, they are trying. I've read Brad the most, with others, were very unhappy doing "just push play" & wanted to return to a harder edge. Jaded was so light & lame, right to the chorus. I saw them 2 years ago, along with going back to 1983, & I agree, they can still get it done live. The Stone were going through the motions in '89, if not before, live. Mick has back up singers do his parts(monkey man), Plant sounds NOTHING like he used to. Age happens, but Tyler almost sounds the same & can hit all his notes. As long as they take advice from their label, they won't put out something respectable.

All you Aerosmith bashers sounds like bandwagon fans, or wannabe fans. It's OK to not like Aerosmith, but please spare the excuses. Do yourselves a favor, and listen to Pump again. If you don't think it's their best album since Rocks, then maybe you just don't like Aerosmith. I agree that the hired songwriters are bad for the band, but that really wasn't until the late 90's. And, they've always had a ballad or 2 on their albums, even in the 70's.
