JASON BONHAM Says He's Been Jamming With PAGE, PAUL JONES; Is Leaving FOREIGNER
- Aug. 24, 2008
|
|
According to Fargo, North Dakota radio station 107.9 The Fox, drummer Jason Bonham revealed this past Friday morning (August 22) on a Detroit radio station that he is leaving FOREIGNER at the end of this month. Since Jason filled the seat once occupied by his late father John Bonham at the LED ZEPPELIN show in London last December, does this raise the likelihood of a full-fledged LED ZEPPELIN reunion? Jason, who was born in England and now lives in Florida, said, "I've been over [to England] a couple of times. I've been working with Jimmy [ Page] and John Paul [ Jones] and trying to do just do some new material and some writing. I don't know what it will be, but it will be something." Jason said, "My time with FOREIGNER is coming to an end. This is the first time I've talked about it. I leave at the end of this month so, I mean, I'm looking forward to taking some time out to be with the family really. Since I moved to America I've been on the road, so my first priority is to go and watch my kids grow up, because they've grown up way to fast in the last four years." There has been no word yet from FOREIGNER on who will replace Jason.

Start saving your pennies now, because there is no doubt that they will be doing a tour.
Tickets will be very expensive and disappear almost immediately, even without the guaranteed flood of professional scalpers.
I'm certain that base ticket prices are going to be trough the roof (regardless off a prerequisite announcement by the band saying that all fees will be fair and just - [ such pronouncements will be weightless and hollow as it will be the contracted promoter(s) who will be setting the price, and those clowns will be bucking for an instant retirement fund.]
I'm really hoping that i can go to at least one Zep show, but, if that means taking out a bank loan in advance I'am gonna have to pass.

its probably pretty obvious Page is gearing up for a Zeppelin tour next year at some point. I'm glad they're practicing, only means it will sound that much better. Now if only they could get Plant to join in on the practice jam sessions...

it's really the Mick Jones band.
I've always liked Jason, seeing him in Rock Star was very cool.

I don't really care who does vocals. As long as they don't suck, to see Page and Paul Jones would be enough to flip my lid!

God, this is just like after the O2 show, when radio stations and idiots on here were assuring us there was going to be a Zeppelin tour, that they'd be headlining Bonnaroo, and that bullshit. Didn't fucking happen did it, suckers? The obvious conclusion to draw from Bonham's comments is that, if anything, Page is going to do a solo tour, maybe with the others, to cash in before he dies. I really can't see Plant suddenly going back on his oft-declared word about not reforming Zeppelin - AND going on a second world tour (after the Krauss one) in as many years. Especially as it's bound to be a disappointment
(Having said all that, if they DO tour, I'll be there just like everyone else. Baaaaa!)

Well if they're working on new material, hopefully Plant won't be involved. Maybe then it will be listenable.

They should definitely get Leona Lewis on vocals!
Plant's too busy with Alison Krauss, it's clear that he's kinda besotted with her!

Yeah, because rock and roll didn't really get started until YOU started listening to it, right?

A full fledged Zeppelin reunion would be awesome just because it's Zeppelin, {age can still play pretty well (as evdienced by his appearance on the Olympics last night) and Jason Bonham is a NASTY drummer.
Robert Plant...however...not so much...

Page & Co better hurry, they are already WAY long in the tooth, and I am more of the mind set that style of hard rock, aggressive band, is a young man's game. Any longer & they will be very old.

Is the most under rated bass player ever. Both him and Enthwistle fall into that category.

With all due respect, I think both, especially Enthwistle, got lots of acclaim for their playing. JPJ is a great musician. Enthwistle was a very heavy bassist, playing "lead" bass.
