DEAN GUITARS Founder DEAN ZELINSKY Announces New Company: DBZ GUITARS - Aug. 26, 2008
World-renowned guitar maker Dean Zelinsky has unveiled his new company DBZ Guitars LLC. He explained, "DBZ Guitars will have my personal control over design, direction and quality." The company's web site, currently revealing only a glimpse of the new line, also includes the "DBZ Guitar Forum" where Zelinsky will be interacting once again with his fans online.

Zelinsky, who founded Dean Guitars in 1976 at the age of 18, is recognized industrywide for ushering in a new era in guitar design. That evolution continues with the new line of DBZ Guitars, premiering in January 2009, showcasing Zelinsky's ability to "take guitar design to the next level." Zelinsky will be doing for guitars what custom bike builders have done for the motorcycle industry. Zelinsky stated rare exotic woods, laser technology and proprietary graphics applications will be essential to DBZ Guitars' new look.

Equally newsworthy, Dean Zelinsky has partnered with Diamond Amplification owner Jeff Diamant (who is now also President and COO of DBZ Guitars), and Diamant's Texas partner, Terry Martin. Explained Zelinsky, "Jeff and I share a vision for DBZ, and see eye-to-eye on how this industry should be serviced. I have teamed up with Jeff because his proven business savvy is critical to this challenging new venture... guitar brands are not built every day. His Diamond amps are second to none and add cache to the DBZ guitar brand."

"Dealers and distributors worldwide are already calling and vying for exclusive rights to DBZ/Diamond," added Diamant. "Simply, together we can do more than we can apart." Diamant continued, "Diamond will not be changing its current vision or plan. We have a vision for DBZ and a vision for Diamond."

"We are bringing a radical approach to every aspect of DBZ Guitars; guitar design, marketing, advertising and distribution, while retaining traditional and elegant styling and feel," said Zelinsky. "The technology available today is being way under-utilized. This industry is stuck in the Dark Ages — it needs another shot in the arm."

DBZ Guitars will be offering distributor exclusives worldwide on U.S.A.-made custom and high-end guitars, and a full range of lower price point guitars (electrics, acoustics and basses) to fit every level of talent and budget. Zelinsky and Diamant are focusing on quality, from top to bottom, to not only meet but exceed the expectations of Dean's more than 30-year fan following and the Diamond Amps fans.

...but Diamond amps are among the worst out there. They sound terrible and are expensive to boot. Jeff is a nice guy but someone with better ears needs to help him fine tune his product line.

Are you one of those ignorant guitar players who loyalty to one brand is so big you are too stupid to realize almost every major guitar maker makes good instruments... Jackson, ESP, Ibanez, BC Rich, Gibson, Epiphone, Fender, etc. etc. all have their guitars that suck and their guitars that kick ass. Seems most young new guitar players these days are the same as most young people getting into metal... assholes who think their opinion is the only true opinion and if they don't like it then it must suck and those that do like it must suck as well. Narrow minded brain washed morons. A good example is my friend's son who is now 18 and into all this new "thrash" stuff he honestly believes that all he needs is distortion and doesnt even know why a clean channel is needed on an amp. He says I just need an EMG bridge pick up, 1 volume knob, and a distortion channel... that is what he says to me he will need for the rest of his life and all any metal guitar player needs. Sadly all his high school friends are the same... lame lame lame... Once you get some brains you will learn what TONE is not just what you think is cool.

There ain't nothing wrong with Diamond Amplification! In the hands of someone who knows wtf they're doing, they kick some major ass- you must suck as a guitar player if you think they sound bad.

And... Leo Fender and George Fullerton went through this about 25 years ago- the company with Leo's name on it started making shitty guitars (namely after Leo and George sold the Fender name), so they started another company, G&L Guitars.

They put the quality back into the G&L Strat- hopefully, Dean can do the same!

I realize all companies have some crap in their line-up, but I've always preferred Jackson due to the neck, and playability. As for tone, lots of variables go into that, .... and I'm always working on mine.

As for your story there on the kids....they are kids, let them have fun with distortion for now...one day they'll want to learn more and expand. I was the same way once.

If DBZ Guitars means Dragonball Z, it would take four episodes to do one solo.

I don't agree that every brand makes good guitars. Once you get skilled at playing the guitar, certain makes/models just feel better to you.

He wasl playing one day when some kid comes up to him and says 'Man, that guitar sounds awesome.' Les puts the guitar down and responds 'How does it sound now?' Moral of the story is that it's mainly not the instrument but the person playing it.

Just because you want to play the more popular instruments doesn't mean you're playing the best.

That's why www.guitarquest.net doesn't sell the 'most popular.'
