SLIPKNOT: New York City 'Maggots' Needed

SLIPKNOT has issued the following update:
"If you live in the New York City area and can meet up [Saturday] morning [August 30] around 6:00 a.m., we are going to be having a gathering of maggots that will descend on 'Good Morning America' and 'The Today Show'. If you can definitely make it, please send an email to edmartian@outsidethenine.com for more details. While supplies last, we will have masks and/or t-shirts for everyone who participates. Let's show the world that SLIPKNOT are back and bigger than ever!"
SLIPKNOT has a chance to debut at No. 1 on next week's Billboard album chart, but will face competition from rapper THE GAME, according to Hits Daily Double. The masked metal act's new album, "All Hope Is Gone", is reportedly on target to sell between 230,000 and 250,000 copies in the U.S. in its first week of release, with THE GAME's new one, "LAX", predicted to possibly do just as well. SLIPKNOT's last effort, 2004's "Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses)", moved 243,000 copies upon its release to enter the chart at No. 2.
SLIPKNOT percussionist Shawn "Clown" Crahan told The Pulse of Radio he's much more concerned with making music than how it's marketed or how much it sells. "I'm not gonna end up being a cliché rock and roll band on VH1 or something," he said. "I can't do it. It's hurt too much to do all of this for as long as we've done. You know, it's more than just a band, it's more than just a band that makes a lot of people money and gets things going. All the crap is out of my mind these days. It's back to the art."
The first single and video from "All Hope Is Gone" is called "Psychosocial".
SLIPKNOT was forced to cancel several European festival appearances as well as performances for MTV Europe and Virgin TV after drummer Joey Jordison broke his ankle and was advised to rest for four to six weeks.
SLIPKNOT recently completed the first Rockstar Energy Mayhem tour with co-headliners DISTURBED and will return to North American stages in January.

If I lived in New York I would totally go. Sounds like it could be a lot of fun. Makes me think of RATM's performance for Sleep Now in the Fire, where they closed down the stock exchange.... :)
I just wish slipknot haters could give more credit to the band, but I suppose that's the case of all noteworthy artists... you either love em or hate em. ...I suppose I also wish that so many of their fans weren't complete idiots... but I assume that also comes with a large fan base.
Oh well, each album keeps getting better and better, fuckin' rock and roll guys.

^Definitely hypocritical. Regardless of what Clown says, this album signifies the complete selling out of Slipknot.
I mean, come on... Good Morning America? A CLOTHING LINE? Plus the new album is nothing along the lines of what made them famous. For example, I think Snuff is a great song, but its pop music. It'd be soft by Stone Sour's standards. What kind of bullshit is Slipknot trying to pull by writing a song like that? Clown says he doesn't want to become a cliche rock and roll band but THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT THEY DID. What an idiot.

I'm sure when Sabbath was fresh on the scene, a lot of people were talking shit about the mamas and the papas as "soft." And when Hendrix was big, lots of people were talking shit about the monkees as being "too playful." And when Iron Maiden broke, people were dissing the carpenters as "elevator music."
And so now people are dissing Slipknot as being "a steaming pile of runny brown defecate in the arena of rock music," and a general "urine stain on the pant leg that is modern metal." A "smelly black blob of vaginal discharge floating in the public pool that is todays heavy music scene," a "runny drip of butt butter from an overly excited elderly woman in the local bingo parlor that is today's metal scene."
Lets face it. People can be rough.

Slipknot is by far one of the best fucking bands ever and All Hope Is Gone is a fucking kick ass album. here's what I find funny.
When I was 12-15, I was heavily into thrash. Thought that Slayer and Metallica could do no wrong. My neighbors wereabout 10-15 years older and always said "Hey fuck that shit you listen to. Try Rush, Kiss, Blue OysterCult, U.F.O, and that stuff. What you listen to is crap."
My response always was "I listened to that growing up. Now I like thrash because it's more exteme than what I used to like"
I respect all of my Blabberpeers for the sake that some of the shit we can agree on, other stuff not so much.
I don't get why the seemingly older 'bangers on this board are constantly trashing the kids.

1. Rage Against the Machine did not cause the stock exchange to be shut down. They simply locked the doors to avoid having any smelly non-showered alterna-crunchies in the door.
2. A little advance notice, even a day, would have been nice and would have allowed me to wake up early enough to actually go.
