METALLICA To Jam With PAUL MCCARTNEY, French First Lady On British TV?

According to Sky News, METALLICA will jam live with French first lady Carla Bruni Sarkozy and Paul McCartney on "Later… with Jools Holland" on BBC television when it starts a new series on September 16. The late-night show traditionally starts with piano-playing Holland and his guests jamming together. METALLICA will make its first appearance on the show in 12 years, while McCartney will team up with record producer and bassist Martin "Youth" Glover under the name THE FIREMAN. Bruni will perform "a song or two from her recently released third album", the BBC said in a statement.

CARLA is awesome, i have two of her records and it really is wonderful stuff, reminds me of francois hardy. don't know what it is about french women being able to pull off the whole sultry singer/model/power thing, like jane birkin and bridgette bardot did (before going crazy)
... though of newer female french singers, i prefer charlotte gainsbourg (5:55 was astounding), i still never expected to read this. i wonder what the performance is going to be.
i suppose i would second the votes towards a beatallica song.

Just to clarify for anyone that hasn't seen Later, there's like 6 or 7 bands on the show, each set up on a small stage, the camera pans round while they all jam to like a twelve bar blues.
The show itself is a terrible mish-mash of pretentious world music with flavour-of-the-month oh so trendy English indie bands singing in their Yorkshire accents who appeal to unintelligent lairy lads in pubs drinking alcopops and Magners. Awful.

The actual show has some crap on it, but I find there is at least one new artist I can get into per series.
That would be a non metal act by the way.
I would love to hear Metallica cover Helter Skelter and thrash it up.
I remember they were thinking of covering The Byrds' Eight Miles High years ago as well as a Who track.
