SAMMY HAGAR Has No Problems With JOHN MCCAIN's Use Of VAN HALEN's 'Right Now' Song

Sammy Hagar's video for his new song "Cosmic Universal Fashion" can be viewed below. The clip, which is said to be an updated version of VAN HALEN's "Right Now" video, also features former VH bassist Michael Anthony. This track is from Hagar's upcoming CD of the same name, due for release in October. Unlike his former VAN HALEN bandmates Eddie and Alex Van Halen, Hagar said that he has no objection to the Republican Party using the group's song "Right Now" in the presidential campaign. "When I wrote the lyrics to 'Right Now', I intended them to inspire people to not sit around and wait for something they believed in but to go out and get it, to make a change however they needed to," he said in a statement. "Whether it was McCain who used the song or if Obama had chosen to use the song, with the current political climate, the lyrics still have the same meaning, and we all need to do something to make a difference, every action counts. In fact, I still feel so strongly about this that I wrote a new song 'Cosmic Universal Fashion' with a young Iraqi musician in an attempt to motivate a new generation to the same affect. I am pleased to be associated with the lyrics to my original song and the new one in hopes that both will make people move to make a difference." "Right Now" originally appeared on VAN HALEN's album "For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge". Hagar wrote the lyrics to the song while the Van Halen brothers Eddie and Alex along with bassist Michael Anthony are credited with the music.

I like how Sammy states that he wrote the lyrics. I'm sure McCain picked the song because it is inspirational, so Sammy's point is right on the money. Mechanix: you're right and wrong. yes the dems appear to be more fiscally responsible right now, but that is decieving. Bush let his GOP congress get away with murder, and they took full advantage of that for awhile. Now that the dems are in control Bush has tightened the strings, and the dems don't like it. McCain has stated all along that he will veto any pork barrel spending bill that comes his way. Palin will help him pound home this point to the voters and to the dems over the next 2 months. Pelosi and Reid will try their best to frustrate McCain, but will lose big-time once they are outed in public. Obama or McCain would be better off without those 2 in congress. Unfortunately, Mr. Obama is in their party so thats something that he can't hide from come election day.

This election is not a popularity contest in which you need to try and decide which candidate you'd rather have a beer with. The issues are clearly laid out for everyone. Between the war, the economy, energy, and national security, everyone must decide where they stand and vote. It's going to be close and the consequences far-reaching. Don't sit home and do nothing. In actuallity, President Bush signed a document starting a North American Union which will basically make us the same as those illegals you are talking about. This was done without citizen approval or congress's approval. Why do you think nothing is being done about the overload of illegals coming from Mexico? They do not care anymore.

hey batman: The idea that democrats are for the poor and GOP is for the rich is weak. Yes the dems will give free handouts (ie. welfare) to the poor. And, yes they will tax the rich to pay for it. All that does is create more work and more resentment for those of us who are trying to work for a living. Taking from the rich to give to the poor is not a solution. EVERYONE should pay taxes so that we are all invested in America. Ask not what you can do for your country... People need to stop looking to the Gov't for free handouts.

It is based on the theory of giving more to an economic minority of people/companies that already have the most and that somehow this will magically trickle out of the goodness of their hearts down to benefit those in the middle and working class who have just had their taxes raised to enact this same policy. How is that a good plan? Lets try something different...

The current crop of republicans is pretty fucking good at:
1. Lining their fucking pockets and slipping out the back door with all they can carry
2. Putting American troops in harms way, while simultaneously raising the value of their shares in oil companies and Haliburton
3. Mismanaging the armed forces, so that WHILE NUMBSKULLS ARE SO FUCKING EXCITED THAT WE'RE OUT KICKING ASS AND TAKING NAMES (I used to be one) OSAMA IS OUT TRYING TO RALLY RESOURCES FOR MORE ATTACKS (his fucking throat should be cut by now)
4. Reducing the number of our allies worldwide, making us more vulnerable in future conflicts
5. Increasing our dependence on foriegn oil, and thus increasing the amount of $ that flows into Saudi Arabia and straight through to muslim extremists, by refusing to look at alternative sources, which would promote a healthier and more diverse economy
Talk about exploiting domestic resources all you fucking want (deep sea, Alaska) if you even try to reduce your dependence on OPEC oil they will produce a glut on the market and drop the price so low that American companies will be forced to shut down production and we'll be fucked just like we were in the early 80's
We are no more secure under this heavy handed president than we were when Bill was afraid to call the shots. I hated Bill then, and I hate Bush now. Whats the difference? Oh, back then it was safe to enlist, and I didn't know twenty people who were currently in harms way overseas, risking it all for some bogus administration who is profiting on this war every fucking step of the way.

You're now talking about immigration which is a whole separate thing from "trickledown" economics. Both the dems and repubs have been abysmal on this issue. Many of the repubs haven't pursued the issue because their most of their business buddies in the border states and florida exploit these people for cheap labor. On the other had the dems don't because they have an unrealistic optimism on this issue that these people really want to be legal citizens quickly but can't for whatever reason. It's a complex issue. My personal opinion at this I believe that at this point it's a national security issue and that the current laws need to be enforced humanely (children shouldn't be torn from their mothers) but these people need to get on a route towards citizenship or hit the road. I don't believe that they should get special healthcare, or that learning spanish should be an emphasis in this country. The other side to this is many of the migrant workers get paid in cash daily well below minimum wage so really pressuring people in that situation for taxes is kind of asinine. The business owners using migrant labor and our government need to be held accountable as well.

Yeah, I "knwo" what that is. I just finished up a J.D. myself. As I type this, I'm preparing for a couple of interviews with local law firms and the District Attorney. So good luck as you strive to better yourself, but realize this: you'll get farther if you can restrain that "inner asshole" you seem to embrace so readily.

It shows a very poor reflection of character when a person who doesn't even really even know another person has to result to personal attacks.
In my experience it is a strong indicator of just how insecure and weak they really are.
But, I guess it's easy to do when one can safely hide behind the web of the internet and not face repercussions for cowardly, hollow attacks.
Because a certain poster SEEMS to think that they have me pigeon-holed or that they know me or what I'm about, I will provide some real info since this poster has placed so much emphasis on how I think and what I do- without knowing me at all.
I just got "laid" off a few days ago, my work doesn't terminate until next week and I get a severance package as a parting gift.
I've owned my own business since April of 2007, I will be doing this full time now.
My employment status has nothing to do with my political views, unlike you I don't believe in corporate welfare, rich people shouldn't get special treatment and those in the lower income brackets shouldn't be penalized to give the rich their tax breaks and loopholes.
Now move on with your life and I will with mine, a better man wouldn't post yet another trite childish paint it by the numbers right-wing, board flamer, personal attack response to this.
Unfortunately, experience tells me that this poster will take the low road and do otherwise.

Both have been tried, and it seems to me that Clinton did it best. The economy was stronger when more consumers had more money to spend. Businesses thrive in that environment. For those that are truly adept at building wealth, they need a liquid market to capitalize on, not the current market, where more money is going to necessities. We had that under Clinton.

Total horse shit. If Clinton rode anything it was the boom in the technology sector, that "dot-com" thing you might have heard about?
Reaganomics ended in GB's term, when he decided to raise taxes, not once but twice. Besides that, Reagonomics didn't work, because during his two terms as president, Congress never curbed its spending. The deficit rose, inflation was rampant, economic disaster ensued, layoffs and unemployment were widespread. He had a good idea, but he didn't have any help. You gotta read about these things.
That being said, Clinton definitely rode that fucking technology wave as well as it could be ridden. But what I respect is the responsible fiscal policy. He had us on track to eliminate the deficit. Where we at now, under tghis Republican administration? Hows the spending been under GW? We all know the answer...
Solidarity? WTF? We are facing hard times and hard choices. I don't want any fucker at the helm who I dont trust. And that includes a codgy old man who has to have all his words put into his mouth over the teleprompter. This fucker hasn't said anything intelligent since he got back from Nam.
He's a mouthpeice, bought and paid for, one that will never think for himself. Say what you want about Obama, but the mutherfucker is smart. He was the top student in is class at Harvard. Mccain was in the bottom 5% at his school.

People are entitled to believe what they want. Just come out of the closet and say it, is all I'm sayin'.
As for Obama, I have seen numerous pics of him and his white grandparents on TV of all sorts. They may not show this on Fox though; you may have to get your news from a less biased source. They likely wouldn't want him to get any "white-appeal."
And what has he done? Well, in my book, he has carried on an intelligent discussion of all the issues he's been presented with (some extremely difficult ones at that), he's shown the willingness to consider issues outside of party lines, hes shown that hes less prone to chasing the almighty $ (graduates #1 from Harvard and resists the six figure salaries waiting in the wing), he's our best shot at reducing our energy reliance on foriegn oil, etc etc, and most important he's not Bush, Cheney, or Mccain.
At this point, intelligence, thoughtfulness, non-partisanship, and the ability to compromise are all welcome traits among a candidate.
But your intelligent enough to have seen this first hand, right?

You're now talking about immigration which is a whole separate thing from "trickledown" economics. Both the dems and repubs have been abysmal on this issue. Many of the repubs haven't pursued the issue because their most of their business buddies in the border states and florida exploit these people for cheap labor. On the other had the dems don't because they have an unrealistic optimism on this issue that these people really want to be legal citizens quickly but can't for whatever reason. It's a complex issue. My personal opinion at this I believe that at this point it's a national security issue and that the current laws need to be enforced humanely (children shouldn't be torn from their mothers) but these people need to get on a route towards citizenship or hit the road. I don't believe that they should get special healthcare, or that learning spanish should be an emphasis in this country. The other side to this is many of the migrant workers get paid in cash daily well below minimum wage so really pressuring people in that situation for taxes is kind of asinine. The business owners using migrant labor and our government need to be held accountable as well.
Dude: the reson I mentioned illegal immigration is because they add to the non taxpaying population. When the non-taxpayers outnumber the taxpayers then trickle down economics will fail. My point is that we need to get everyone (at least 75%) of the people invested in America by paying their FAIR SHARE of taxes. To expect 50% of "rich" Americans to pay all of the taxes is crazy. The class warfare argument is going to cost Obama because most Americans realize that more taxes = less money for themselves. Americans are not selfish, but giving money to the Gov't is like giving it to a known drugdealer disguised as a homeless vet.

I think the comment of "paying for those who wont help themselves" is directed at the masses of lazy fuckers on the welfare rolls or those who find every damn excuse in the book not to try and better themselves irregardless of race. Depending on the area one lives in there will be more of one certain race then the others who are fucked up and drain the system. I can give you all kinds of examples like Phoenix where I have my primary residence in a modest community of homes in the $200k to $450k range, mine is at the lower end. On my block there is a total of 15 homes that were occupied at one time, now there are 5 families 2 White, 2 Black and 1 Iranian. The rest of the families just up and fkn bailed when the housing market tanked and they couldnt make payments because they pulled all their equity out and bought fancy cars, boats, took vacations instead of being responsible and sitting tight. Almost every one of these fuckers were Mexicans crying and whinning how they fell on hard times. I call bullshit as these fuckers never should have been allowed to buy a house anyways, now they have fucked those of us who are responsible. Racism ????? Racism is a crutch for those who cant succeed on their own plain and simple.
As for Obama why then is he referred to only as an African American ?? Yeah we arent stupid we know why including you his campaign and he himself are gonna play that race card for all its worth. I dont think he is necessarily a bad person but if you have payed attention the past few years he keeps digging himself a bigger hole by all his false promises.
