METALLICA's 'Death Magnetic' Sold Two Weeks Early At French Record Store?

According to several unconfirmed Internet reports, a French record store allegedly began selling copies of the new METALLICA album "Death Magnetic" earlier today nearly two weeks ahead of the CD's scheduled September 12 worldwide release date. A couple of the fans that were lucky enough to purchase these early copies have posted pictures of what is apparently the album's final packaging. Check out some of the photos below. The studio version of the new METALLICA song "Cyanide" has been made available for streaming on Metallica.com. The track comes off "Death Magnetic", which will be available to download for Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock on the same day the album arrives in stores. "Death Magnetic" track listing: 01. That Was Just Your Life02. The End Of The Line03. Broken, Beat & Scarred 04. The Day That Never Comes05. All Nightmare Long06. Cyanide 07. The Unforgiven III08. The Judas Kiss09. Suicide & Redemption10. My ApocalypseMETALLICA will play two budget-priced shows in London and Berlin to launch "Death Magnetic", including the opening show on September 12 at the new 17,000-capacity O2 World arena in Berlin. METALLICA also plays London O2 arena on September 15, with tickets priced at £5 ($9), according to Billboard.com. Proceeds from both shows go to local charities. The concerts are on sale to registered fans only with tickets priced €10 ($14).

another thing, the record store selling the cd in Paris seemed to do it perfectly legally, the copies were genuine and a sticker with "import" was on it. Plus, I do not think this store would do something that illegal, given its exposure and its good reputation in Paris, and given Metallica's importance...

Oh and I don't think Metallica will have to sue the record store. I think if an album is put out before the release date it results in heavy fines. So unless this store is a major chain, they will probably be a gormet chocolate shop this time next month.

I'm not sure how many of you remember, but back when St Anger came out it was supposed to have a regular Tuesday release date... but the week before the album started showing up on Kazaa, Limewire, etc... so they just called the stores and said, "go ahead and put it out" the Friday before. Since this happened and there's a good chance it will start to hit the torrent sites before the 12th, they'll probably do the same thing again. Maybe as early as this week.

I agree with the posters who speculate it'll be released this friday at the latest (or next tuesday). How do I know? I used to know someone who worked at a record store and thats usually the earliest they got the albums in - my friend used to sometimes get albums a week earlier a few times giving/selling a copy to some other friends. I speculate that its either released already (tonight or tommorow) or that other theory.

Metallica's latest upchuck is far from a thrash album. It's fast in places and that's about it. Just because there's tremolo picking doesn't mean it's thrash.

This is a perfect test to see if downloading is really and truly hurting the music industry as much as people say it is. Everyone is eagerly awaiting this album, even the detractors, and we'll see in the coming weeks if leaks like this really do significant damage to the artists. If not, Lars Ulrich has got a lot of crow to eat.

i just got the flac from a pal who got the cd early just to rip it and well to all the fangirls you will be happy to know the mix is still horrible (the drums are louder than james) so all the bull shit you ate from the managers that it was a encoding issue will be greatly disappointed. It sounds as if it was extremely rushed and forced.
best of luck defending this glorified bootleg sounding metallica cover band album.

Not the best from metallica.....but I am actually pretty happy that it doesnt suck as bad as the black album and beyond. Still nowhere near as Justice, or any metallica album before Justice....but at least its a step in the right direction!

What's the difference between WW2 and the Revolutionary War? None of us were alive then, either, yet people feel the need to constantly name-drop that shit like they did something. I agree it's kinda funny with the frog bashing, but do you even know anyone who's French? I know plenty of French people and they don't hate the US or Americans.
Unless you've served in the military, you can't use the word "we" when describing what the United States has done in times of war. You don't have that privilege.

I used youtube downloader and downloaded all of the "video" music files that i could get. I managed to get like 6 or 7.....now i've converted the FLV files to MP3 audio. Kinda crappy sound, but good enough for most ppl.
