METALLICA's 'Death Magnetic' Coffin Box: German TV Commercial Available

A German TV commercial for the METALLICA "Death Magnetic" deluxe "coffin box" that will come with a host of additional material for the group's diehard fans can be viewed below. According to the band, "The special edition box will come out the same day the album does and will of course include the full CD (duh!), along with everything next level cool relating to 'Death Magnetic'! There will be a CD with the demos of the songs, a DVD of even more 'making-of-the-album' footage not seen on Mission: Metallica, a t-shirt only available in this box, a flag, guitar picks, and a fold out poster along with a collector's credit card embossed with a code to redeem a free download of a special European show happening in September." The studio version of the new METALLICA song "Cyanide" has been made available for streaming on Metallica.com. The track comes off "Death Magnetic", which is scheduled for release worldwide on September 12. The CD will be available to download for Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock on the same day the album arrives in stores. "Death Magnetic" track listing: 01. That Was Just Your Life02. The concerts are on sale to registered fans only with tickets priced €10 ($14).

People will pick it apart, but all in all, I enjoyed it & there are some fine moments on it. Actually, I would say the Cyanide song is the weakest one on the album. Good to hear some audible bass from time to time as well. Improved lyrics, improved vocals, some fine solos, more prominent guitar work & riffage, etc.

Look, I dont even like post-Justice Metallica. Not saying its terrible, just not my thing. But Ill tell you what... I will be buying this new one. Its the closest thing to Justice theyve put out since that album.
Oh and for the record, theres nothing wrong with being nostalgic as long as it doesnt consume the present. Sometimes its good to be reminded of who we are and where we came from.
For instance, if it hadnt been for a friend convincing me to buy a cassette called Ride the Lightning by some band named Metallica in 1985, I probably wouldnt like metal at all.... But thats just me I guess.

Alright...regarding the album itself...just listened to it. Overall, most of the riffs, I just found uninspired. I think that if this was a brand new band trying to make it in the music business I don't think they would get very far. It's not bad, but it's not that great either. Yes, it's faster and heavier than anything they've done in a while, but that dosn't necessarily make it great. I don't think they should be let of so easy just because st. anger was so bad. I wanted to hear an album that would draw me in from start to finish and make me not question whether I liked it or not....like puppets or justice...

If Death Magnetic was the debut album of some newcomers, hardly anyone would give it more than one listen and reviews would have been largely negative. If Death Magnetic had come out right after ...And Justice For All, all the old fans (like me) would have been falling over eachother in an attempt to express their disappointment about the poor songwriting, singing, drumming, production and the lack of thrash on this record. But because Death Magnetic follows the abominations Load, Reload and St. Anger, it actually manages to get some positive reactions. It's all relative...

youtube.com type in any new song, and you can listen to it in its entirety. all the songs are good. not the greatest thing i've ever heard, but surely not the worst. metallica changed after kill em all. every album is different. get over it people. gees! sure st. anger could of been produced better, but it wasn't. it's still a good album. metallica could be like acdc, in the fact that every song sounds the same. i'm glad they have variety instead.

Not their best album, but I'd say it lives up to the Black Album. The song All Nightmare Long is kickass! Judas Kiss and That Was Just Your Life are pretty cool. They are all good, with some having weak parts. I'm also kind of dissapointed with Kirk's soloing. But that's just my opinion. I remember when I first listened to Justice I didn't like it that much. But now I absolutely love it. Same goes with Leper Messiah. You need to listen to these things to digest them and let them grow on you. If you don't like it, don't listen to it, and don't come on here and be an idiot!

All Nightmare Long sound just pure class and Suicide and Redemption sounds like Metallica meets Joe Satriani (which makes sense considering Kirk's background).

I think the new album is pretty good. The only real disappointment for me is the instrumental which just sounds like a song they didn't finish. A good instrumental doesn't leave you wondering where the words are while you yawn.
I also find it comical that the same people who love And Justice For All (which sucked balls) are complaining about the sound on the new record. Justice sounded like a horrible demo and I never could understand why it was so popular. Talk about SHEEP!

considering reload sold 3 million when metallica was still a big deal and st crapper sold 1.7 million in 4 yrs, I would bet the bank if vegas had a line on metallica selliong 1 million copies in 3 months!
