METALLICA: 'Death Magnetic' World Premiere Available For Streaming Right Now

This week's FMQB Productions broadcast special, "Metallica: The World Premiere Of Death Magnetic", which is being hosted by FOO FIGHTERS frontman Dave Grohl and drummer Taylor Hawkins, is available for streaming right now at Metallica.com. Dave Grohl and drummer Taylor Hawkins are being joined by the members of METALLICA for a live broadcast from 'TALLICA HQ, giving an exclusive look into one of the most anticipated albums of 2008. "The World Premiere Of Death Magnetic" will also air on stations across the country starting at 9:00 p.m. Eastern. The 60-minute program will feature James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett and Robert Trujillo giving fans an exclusive look at "Death Magnetic". Several copies of "Death Magnetic" were sold early at a Paris record store on Tuesday (September 2), which led to the entire album being leaked online within hours. Due on September 12, "Death Magnetic" will also be available to download for Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock the same day that the record is released. METALLICA will play two low-dough shows in Europe to celebrate the CD's release, in Berlin on September 12 and London on September 15. Tickets for both are priced under $20 and open to fan club members only. The band will kick off its first indoor North American tour on October 21 in Glendale, Arizona, with shows booked through the end of January.

First; you bown down to the alter of Lombardo, but how can you respect Grip Inc., which was a 2nd rate Slayer knock off with a laughable singer named Gus?
Second; who is the man under the bridge in the Ostracized tune?
Third; what is the obsession with album sales & concert attendance figures lad? Which means more? Album sales or concert attendance? You seem to put a lot of weight on both.

I will be the first to say this is a good song. Putting the entire album aside, previous Unforgiven tunes, etc., this song stands on its own. Hammett tried to put some emphasis on the solo to be in the same vein as the one on the black album.

I've heard some stuff on mission that I haven't heard on the death magnetic tracks. Does anyone know if any other songs are gonna be released anytime soon, maybe a special edition like roadrunner likes to do or another quick album? This was written with Guitar Hero in mind, after all, it's the new 'money maker' for bands these days, can't say I blame them for cashing in yet again.
That said, it's a solid album, but to little to late...we all know these guys have lost there way long ago, it weird to me, kinda forced in a way, maybe it will take a few more listens.
6 out of 10 in my humble opinion.

So I had fully intended to wait until September 12th to listen the CD but when a friend says you got to listen to this it is quite hard to say no I want to wait. I will however be purchasing on Sept 12 to own my own copy.
So overall I am impressed. I need to hear again but I only recall yeah(yeeaaahh) being used twice in the whole CD. James does overdo the 'a' sound for a few word suchs as "luck runs out'a'". Out should end with a T not an A. With that in mnd not once is there a HEY HEY HEY or an aint my bitch anywhere.
Musically it is good There may be a few places where you can tell that Lars and Kirk are playing it safe but overall it is thrash metal in my opinion. This really is the CD that should have came out after Justice. It is the best music they have done for almost 20 years.
The instrumental is good but for some reason it makes me think that if Deliverance and Wiseblood era Corrosion of Conformity were going to do a 10 minute instrumental this would be it. Anyone else notice that?

While Metallica, and the rest of the world have been hyping Death Magnetic up on the internet, I've been listening to ...And Justice For All, Kill 'Em All, and Garage Days Re-revisited the $5.98 EP on cassette while throwing down some cold ones!!!!
I Also heard the world premiere of Death Magnetic on (WLUP) 97.9 FM--The Loop--in Chicago.
Metallica is not in my top ten list of favorite bands (more top 15), but I do appreciate the influence they have had on Heavy Music. They were one of the first true Metal bands from the San Francisco Bay Area along with Exodus. They influenced me to check out underground/obscure bands from the United States, and across the globe. Also, Lars Ulrich's 1990 NWOBHM (New Wave Of British Heavy Metal) compilation was inspiring.
He went all the way to the U.K. to get permission from the artists to release the songs on the compilation. Venom, Iron Maiden, Samson with Bruce Dickinson (aka Bruce Bruce), Angel Witch, Girl School, Saxon, Blitzkrieg, and of course Diamond Head. Even Def Leppard is on the NWOBHM compilation, and the Leppard track is not that bad.
I can't stand Load, or St. Anger era Metallica. I also can't stand the song they did for Mission Impossible:II, "I Disappear."
It's good to see Metallica playing Heavy again. "Cyanide" is a disappointing tune. "All Nightmare Long" is one of the heaviest tunes they have put out in a long time without rehashing any of their old songs.
Bring back the Vinyl shops!!!!!!

I started listening to Metallica in 1988 or 89, when I was 8 or 9. My brother and I were lucky to have an aunt who was like an older sister and she made us tapes of Puppets and Justice. We listened to those and the white-tape version of Lightning about 10,000 times (give or take). Disposable Heroes and One were soundtracks to mass GI Joe genocides. Metallica was my first favorite, and in some way my forever favorite.
I've listened through the Loads, S&Ms and St. Anger. A number of times. Some is good and some is bad.
Death Magnetic rules.
Death Magnetic is the Red Rider BB Gun of albums. It's like coming downstairs Christmas morning and finding that one thing, that ONE DAMN PRESENT you wanted - the one that, if it wasn't there, Christmas would've been ruined. But it's not. It's the best day ever. I can't wait to buy this album on vinyl and take in all the art and everything.
And, volumefour, come to Philadelphia if you want vinyl shops. We have a bunch of great ones. Long In The Tooth on Sansom and Beautiful World Syndicate on Passyunk, to name a couple. Google them. They rule.

Let lars be involved in the songwriting process but PLEASE dont let him play drums - he´s playing drums now for 30 years or whatever and has skills like the 15 year old drummer of the band next door....I realy like death magnetic but without lars` terrible playing it would be waaay better!!!!

About 3/4 of this album is killer. The songs they leaked suck. The first 3 songs are amazing...rest besides the tracks leak is killer. Nice work, I have new faith.

people had really high hope for this album, but very low expectations.
Hence, anything with a better production than St.Anger and heavier/faster music than Black/Load/Reload would sound absolutely awesome. at first.
Let it flow for a month and then post your thoughts.
I, personally, will wait and won't listen to ripped copies until the 12th.

it is poor, unispired songwriting, the result is BORING MUSIC
this album will have the same destiny of St. Anger, many people will buy it on the hype and totally forget it in a week or so

Yeah I agree with you on UIII. The guitar solo is quite reminiscent in vibe if not content to the original. It's a great song on a great album. I think it's a really well paced album - eg Cyanide, quite a (comparatively) simple 'Black' album type tune coming after the convolution of All Nightmare Long is great.
Absolutely happy with this release. 'Broken' = best stompy song by Metallica since Sad But True

I've been a fan of Metallica since '83, I've seen em live over 30 times, and I've been excited for every single album release since the beginning.
The Christmas morning anaology was a good one. The anticapation is awesome when it leads to getting what you want. Along the way, some of their releaees have disappointed me, particularly when Load came out. At first I felt completely betrayed, but over time I came to realize that it's actually a decent album, it's just wasn't a "metal" album. The same with Reload. Both decent albums, but not my cup of tea. So be it. I actually really liked St. anger, shitty production aside. I was just happy that it looked like Metallica turned the corner and was leaning back towards less radio friendly music.
After hearing DM for the first time, I can honestly say that It was the most satisfying listen i've had of new Metallica material in over 20 years. The album is not a return to form, but a great mix of old and new. What more can we expect? I don't want to hear MOPII anway. I want to hear something new and exciting, and DM fits the bill. It was worth the fucking wait!!!!
