WARRANT Parts Ways With Singer JANI LANE… Again
- Sep. 5, 2008
|
|
BLABBERMOUTH.NET has received the following statement from long-running California rockers WARRANT: "It is with the deepest regret that we have to announce that Jani Lane will no longer be performing with WARRANT. "From the beginning of our reunion talks to the last note of our last show together in Houston this past weekend [on August 31 at the Rock The Bayou festival], we have had nothing but good intentions of bringing a quality original WARRANT show to our fans and friends. "We wish Jani nothing but the best and remain friends. "We are very excited that we have found an unbelievable voice in Robert Mason [ LYNCH MOB], an old friend of the band. We have three dates confirmed, come out and judge for yourself… We don't think you will be disappointed!" Upcoming WARRANT shows: Sep. 09 - Tucson, AZ - Casino Del Sol (w/ ALICE COOPER) Sep. 19 - Maplewood, MN - The Myth (w/ TRIXTER) Oct. 17 - Tyler, TX - The Oil Palace (w/ QUEENSRŸCHE, KIP WINGER) Fan-filmed video footage of WARRANT performing with Jani Lane at Rock The Bayou festival in Houston, Texas on August 31, 2008 can be viewed below.

Ok, I know I'll get bashed here, but before you do, shouldn't we feel sorry for him and hope he gets back to a positive state of mind? Is is too much to show soem compassion instead of tearing people down?"
No he doesnt deserve for anyone to feel sorry for him! If he has a drug or alcohol problem he brought it on himself and deserves what he gets.

I'm sorry, but I can't agree with (what you must admit is) an extremely liberal attitude toward alcoholics and drug addicts. People need to be accountable for their own actions -- it's complete bullshit to say that everyone is a victim and shouldn't have to face the consequences for their foolish actions. Who is responsible for Jani becoming an addict? Is it not Jani himself?

nope sorry don't feel a bit sorry for him. he has had multiple chances and blown them all. as for his demons maybe if had not started in the first place he would not have a problem. how many people have to die before they figure it out? what sucks is the band is known for his voice and are done for now. who wants to hear somebody else sing cherry pie? at the very least lane should have been smart enough to wait untill after the show to do whatever drugs he does.face it no matter what he tries to do he is always gonna be the guy who sang cherry pie, except at a club show I saw them in the 90's when they didn't sing it!talk about pissed!we all that it would be the encore but they never came back out.

I don't really like to bag on bands to often unless they really have it coming. In the case of Warrant I think it really is time to just move on and disband the band for good. People just really don't car anymore. They play these odd ball bars in odd ball cities because the local people..................are like shit Warrant's coming to blah blah..........gotta go see that since there isn't anything else to do. So they pack in a few hundred locals in. Firehouse does the same damn thing also. These bands just can't go play any musice venue of name in any major city cause only 50 paying people will even show up.
Got to be realistic guys you had a good run but you might be much better served going in your seperate directions.

I saw Jani live most recently in 2006, and he sounded good. He's actually a cool dude, too. However, we all have problems. He just had his ass wiped too many times at too early an age, and now he can't seem to get it together. He was sad on Fit Club, then he was clean, then fell off the wagon again. When does his madness stop?

that the band would tarnish what little credibility they had, to bring this washed up - loser out on the road. He obviously could care less about his craft because his voice is fucking dead. Its a scam. They knew how he was, they had to have tried to rehearse with him (or maybe not) so they knew it was a farce. But to actually allow people to PAY to see that is very weak. Especially when its at a club and you specifically went to see them, not one of these festivals. Its funny until your stupid enough to dish out money to see a mockery of what you thought you were gonna see. Thats just wrong. But hilarious to me seeing I thought they were shit anyway.
They should have never done this to the fans though. Jani Lane is too far gone and they all knew. Warrant were never that good anyway, but they lost more of their integrity (at least the Band members) by trying to grab a few quick bucks on the shoulder of this 'Behind The Music' horror show that IS Jani Lane. The guy is a dirtbag who doesnt put any effort into his vocals or music anymore. The band members knew it, but felt they had to do the gigs for some $$. Just because he was on TV for a little while publicly making a joke of himself. Too bad for the fans who wasted that money on a pathetic show.
Besides, that Jamie St.James (or something like that), did a fine job on their last CD adding some much needed balls to these guys sound and they reward him by bringing a proven failure back to front them. Pathetic.
Fuck em. They sucked anyway.

Its being honest. People have been concerned about him for years, time to just put it out there. He doesnt much care about peoples opinions anyway. Hope he gets better for his own sake, but stay off the stage until you get your voice and life together at least a little! And the band should be ashamed of themselves.

First and foremost when they were writting their corniest of songs they were in their early 20's playing music for the ladies and being totally up front about that fact. What part of having sex with playmates don't you kids get. How are they different from Motley Crue except Jani could actually sing?
Another point most of the kids on here posting crap were never fans of Warrant in the first place.
Did you know that WARRANT yes WARRANt were one of the FIRST bands to stand up to the PMRC and Tipper ( KILL ROCK MUSIC) Gore. Check out ODE TO TIPPER GORE.
Jani explained Cherry Pie and I have seen that same scenario from virtually every band that has ever existed. Write a hit or play dives forever.
Their best music came after the dirty grungers took over the pop scene. Check out Dog Eat Dog or Belly To Belly vol 1. Not agreeing that's its right to give into corporate but even the great Metallica has done that.
Yes Jani has put himself in the hole he is in now and I do feel bad for him. He was at one time a great front man. Again your dissing means nothing if you never cared in the first place.
The good news from this story is that a lesser known front man has joined Warrant and even though most of the blabbermouth veiwers don't know him he has one hell of a voice. He fronted Lynch Mob, Cry Of Love,James Byrd Group and a tongue and cheek outfit as of late called BIG COCK.( Party band )
The people that come on here just to slam someone would slam their own grandmother if they though someone would laugh, when in fact you really come across worse than Jani does. Have you ever played to sold out arenas? Did you sleep with Bobbi Brown? Did you write Uncle Tom's Cabin? No you didn't.
Rock on Warrant w/Robert Mason and as for you Jani one of your fellow OHIANS is wishing you would straighten up and be the great guy you truly are and to hell with all the crap that you are doing to yourself. I don't buy it song and dance man I truly don't.

If you are a famous rock star in your mid 20's and you get into drugs and alcohol and ultimately fuck up . . . you can go get your act together and if your band was popular enough, you can come back 5 or even 10 years later and make another go of it . . . maybe even make back all the money you lost being an immature asshole . . .
BUT COME THE FUCK ON. You got ONE chance to be a rockstar and you fucked it up . . . for some reason, you got ONE EXTRA SHOT at trying again and you CANNOT STOP DRINKING AND DRUGGING YOURSELF TO DEATH.
The history of rock music is fucking LITTERED with the bodies of a great many people that were too stupid or to far gone or too whatever it is that makes you throw it away . . . . I feel sorry for these people because they're tragic but you know what???
There's THOUSANDS of people in the USA alone that are more talented and write BETTER SONGS than "Jani Lane" but he doesn't want the job, SO HOPEFULLY SOMEBODY THAT APPRECIATES IT WILL END UP WITH IT.
JANI, YOU HAD YOUR CHANCE BUDDY. GO GET HELP BEFORE YOU KILL YOURSELF. IT IS NOT TOO LATE.
You know something else? I never liked Warrant at all. Never. But I'm old enough to know that you can be fucking glam rock or the most brutal death metal ever and have the same drug and alcohol problems and I'm sick of watching people die by their own hand.

jani deserves all the negative shit he's getting. people paid hard earned money to see the "original" warrant with "jani lane". he couldn't even respect his fans enough to keep his shit together until the tour was over.
if this was the the first time this had happened then i'd agree with you and cut him some slack, but this has happened countless times.
like i said, i'm not a fan of warrant but i'm pretty impressed with how the rest of the band tried to cover for jani's sorry ass. jani blew it for everybody. warrant could have had a decent pay day, but not now with a "substitute" singer.
he blew it not only for the fans, but for himself and the band.

Addictive personalities and disorders are passed down genetically mostly, or activated through trauma during youth. not to defend Jani, because by this time its a shame that he hasn't reached a bottom yet that will make him see where he's at and where he needs to go....which is scary. I mean, how much more does he have to go through to figure out that he can't do this anymore???? Fuck ALL you egotistical and condescending jerk-offs.

I do give a fuck..this is one of my favorite bands and one of the first of that era that I saw live, opening for Motley on the Feelgood run when I was 16.I was hoping to see them this summer, then the Cinderella shows got cancelled. Its always great to see an all original member band when so many these days aren't.But then I watched these clips...ouch. You gotta see where these guys are coming from.Jani is their original singer, but wow he is OFF to say the least.I mean-the beginning of "I Saw Red"-it really shows. It sucks that they have to go on without him,but ...geez..it must be painful for them to hear those vocals too.Plus, there had to have been backstage antics too..Anyway-its shitty, but what can they do?They tried.

I was at the RTB "performance". It was sad to see the band having to put up with it. I mean, the guy wandered off stage for 5 minutes, prompting a Spinal Tap like jazz odyssey. He kept asking Joey if it was time for Cherry Pie after every song.
They ended the set almost 20 minutes early. He looked totally lost. Shuffling about the stage like an old man. The most he interacted with the crowd was during Heaven, and then he promptly forgets the lyrics.
The band sounded great, but it was time for Jani to go. I was hoping they were just gonna fire him on the spot and grab one of the side stage bands singers to fill in!

Inevitable I guess although he did deliver a pretty good performance when I saw Warrant at Heavy Mtl this past summer.
Exclude the terrible "French fries/French kissing" jokes though (John Rabon you're not, Jani) and that was a damn fine performance right there that day.

This really sucks, I was rooting for these guys. The funny thing is is that back in '93 when Jani quit, Lynch Mob had just split up and I remember thinking that Robert Mason would make a great replacement. About 6 months later JAni returned to the band, and then Steve got fired and Joey quit. I wonder what this means for possible re-releases of DRFSR-Live and Cherry Pie-Quality you Can Taste on DVD?
