A three-minute video clip of METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich congratulating YouTube users for their great interpretations of 'TALLICA songs can be viewed below. METALLICA's official web site is currently streaming no less than six full songs from the band's forthcoming "Death Magnetic" album. The tracks, which were all premiered Thursday night (September 4) during the broadcast special "Metallica: The World Premiere Of Death Magnetic", are as follows: * "The Day That Never Comes"* "My Apocalypse"* "Cyanide"* "All Nightmare Long"* "Broken, Beat & Scarred"* "The Judas Kiss"Several copies of "Death Magnetic" were sold early at a Paris record store on Tuesday (September 2), which led to the entire album being leaked online within hours. Due on September 12, "Death Magnetic" will also be available to download for Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock the same day that the record is released.

Compare the drumming to the other metallica albums including death magnetic to that of St. Anger and tell me where there is one single solid beat in St. Anger....NONE!!!! Yes, lars sounds like he's banging on trash cans for an hour and 15mins on st. anger. fuck, the guitars didn't even sound great and kirk was on this kick of solos dating the music trend of solos in rock as it was and being trendy and everything on st. anger but MY BOYS ARE BACK!!!! But go back 20+ years and see where metallica would be today if Cliff was still alive....ST. Anger wouldn't have happened. If Cliff were alive today making Death Magnetic...fuck we'd all be shitting a brick from hearing decent fucking music for once. The album is amazing! I'm listening to the whole album for the first time right now and the first three tracks blew me away with their authentic, exuberant power and speed. Once again, the first releases/singles aren't the best tracks on the album!

You will find out the truth on alot of the histort of Metallica. I am currently reading it again for the third time since buying it two years ago. Cliffs death was caused by the bus falling on him and pretty much crushing his chest. The bus wrecked due to not black ice as was reported, it was caused be the fact that the driver just simply lost control on the road and tried to correct it and over-corrected it and caused it to flip over. Ironically enough, were Cliff Burton was sleeping, Kirk Hammett would have been there originally. Cliff and Kirk argued over who got the window bunk and drew cards. Cliff won the window bunk from Kirk. Now, if Kirk had that bunk and the bus crashed and killed him and not Cliff? Where the fuck would Metallica be without Kirk Hammett? Fucking nowhere dude. There wouldn't even be a Metallica anymore.

I'll never forget cringing when Lars said they had a list of fans names that were downloading Metallica songs... I never had a problem with Metallica going after napster. After all, napster was about to make a deal that would've landed them millions all on the work of other artists. But Metallica fans, downloading Metallica songs? Why sue them..
Anyways, its good to see the change of heart. I don't have a problem with paying for a CD that I like. I like Death Magentic and will buy a copy. I don't speak for everyone, there are a lot of cheap fuckers, but they wouldn't buy anything anyway. I remember in the 80's, I went through 5 copies of Master of Puppets because it kept getting stolen... No wonder why Metallica sold so many records..

Seriously, hearing those new songs on the Metallica website, well made me breathe a very small sigh of relief. To be honest, it sounds like they have ADHD, cannot focus on a decent riff get bored and change it for some other that doesnt fit into song. The only song I really like full through is The Judas Kiss, the others all have promising riffs, but get ruined by Jame's vocals, or a silly Load type riff.
So far so good so ... oops opened up a whole new can of worms there.
It sounds like Load with double bass and better solos, but worse vocals.
I think they went a bit too far to return to old school, they went way over the trying too hard line.

The new Metallica which on first listen sounds pretty damn good, new AC/DC which again on first listen sounds good. You have some really great albums come out the last few years...Testament, Megadeth, Slipknot ( I liked it ), Triviums new one sounds damn good so far, Judas Priests new one is totally off the wall, Machine Head, not to mention all the new blood that is carrying the torch..Warbringer, Black Stone Cherry, Sword..to mention a few. I don't know about you but there is so much to be happy about! SH*T even Disturbed is selling a ton of cd's with bland rock/metal! Love it or hate it..Death Magnetic is a shot in the arm for the Hard Rock/Metal community!

Lars has ALWAYS been a tool. Doesn't mean that Metallica have always been shit though, does it now? Everything up to Justice is seminal - the Black album... Pretty good, then everything in between - shite. The new album, however, is a good album. They're never going to make another Puppets or Lightning - but the new album is good - much better than most of the other toss that's been released so far this year.
As for these nimrods on this and every one of the other ten zillion Metallica threads going on about the Napster fiasco making Lars into a pariah - I find it hilarious that most of the people passing comment on that are too young to have had the manual dexterity or intelligence necessary to operate a keyboard when Napster was actually around.

But Death is yet another band that blows Metallica away. Good post, hippieshateslayer. Death death became my favorite band right when Metallica fell off.
I've bashed metallica for years, but Death Magnetic is the best Metalica release in 20 years. No, it's not better than the first four albums, but sounds like it should have been released AFTER Justice. DM should have been made in '91 and would have been the Album that Metallica GRADUALLY declined on instead of the drastic change the black album was. Like I say over and over, Death Magnetic is the closest material to the first four releases, but in no way better than the first four.
To those that hate this new album and loved 'Justice like I did, I'm sorry to say I think this is as close as we are going to get in hearing Metallica sounding like their old selves. I never in a million years thought that their sound would get this close to their old sound, so maybe they have one last thrash masterpiece left in them. I doubt it. I'm not blown away by Death Magnetic, but I'll take this version of Metallica over the last four albums.
Though I like the new Metallica, I still think that most of the bands that came after them and in our current time are better than Metallica.
Here's my short list of bands I like better than Metallica:

I dare forward the notion that if Bob's production, mixing and mastering team were involved in the mixing and mastering of Death Magnetic, it wouldn't be their shittiest sounding album of their career. Saint Anger may have sucked in ways, but it didn't have clipping as much as this one does (judging by the leak). I love the new albums songs, but will not be buying the album because of the shitty sound quality. Making Justice sound like the Black Album in comparison. Gone are the days that Bob Rock and Lars Ulrich took the raw mixes of the Black Album back to the mastering plant to remaster the album before release because they had clipping on two or three parts. Now the whole album clips and sounds distorted (not just talking about the guitars). Now I don't know if you guys want Metallica competing with Merzbow, but I am not into that concept one bit.

Now... Lars sounds very good on this record! The whole band actually does. It sounds complex and exciting but it's not over the top, snobby like Dream Theater or some crap like that. It's still music.
I know it's easy to pick on him cause of Napster, hairline (idiots) and supposed sloppy drumming. Tell ya what though, I don't know Lars' exact age, nor do i care to look it up, but which one of the Blabberbabies will get to that age and still be able to get it up, let alone play old and new shit live for days a week?
