METALLICA Releases 'The Judas Kiss' Via iTunes - Sep. 9, 2008
METALLICA has released another song off its upcoming album "Death Magnetic" via iTunes. "The Judas Kiss" is the fourth, and final, track to be made available before the CD is issued in its entirety this Friday. Also available on iTunes are "The Day That Never Comes", "My Apocalypse" and "Cyanide".

METALLICA's official web site is currently streaming no less than six full songs from the band's forthcoming "Death Magnetic" album. The tracks, which were all premiered during last week's "Metallica: The World Premiere Of Death Magnetic", hosted by FOO FIGHTERS frontman Dave Grohl and drummer Taylor Hawkins and broadcast live from METALLICA's headquarters in San Rafael, California, are as follows:

* "The Day That Never Comes"
* "My Apocalypse"
* "Cyanide"
* "All Nightmare Long"
* "Broken, Beat & Scarred"
* "The Judas Kiss"

Several copies of "Death Magnetic" were sold early at a Paris record store on September 2, which led to the entire album being leaked online within hours.

"Death Magnetic" will also be available to download for Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock the same day that the record is released.

METALLICA will play two low-dough shows in Europe to celebrate the CD's release, in Berlin on September 12 and London on September 15. Tickets for both are priced under $20 and open to fan club members only.

The band will kick off its first indoor North American tour on October 21 in Glendale, Arizona, with shows booked through the end of January.

What does AC/DC have to do with Metallica... NOTHING! I don't understand the comparison. It's like saying The Cure is going to kick Amon Amarth's ass this month when their respective releases come out. They are playing two different styles of music... one is old school rock n' roll and the other is metal for fucks sake already.

I was able to listen to all the songs through YouTube last week. I have to admit, I had my doubts on this new CD, but it definitely an improvement compared St Anger. I wasn't blown away when they played Cyanide at Ozzfest so I was thinking they were gonna release another turd. In my opinion, not as great as MOP or AJFA, but good. I will purchase the CD first thing Friday.

On this site is amazing. Do you guys really think that these bands give two shits what some loser out there in cyberspace (or his parents basement) thinks of them releasing a song on iTunes, or if they like their album compared to one they wrote 20 years ago?
As you sit there pulling the dick off yourself to some image of Captin Janeway from Star trek voyager or thinking of what you would do if you got to be in a room with the prom queen for five minutes without having to give your credit card number first, think about how fucking stupid you sound voicing your opinion when all it seems to say is "this band sucks". If that is all you can come up with in your sad little post, then you are a bigger looser than most would care to want to believe. this is a site for fans, not fuck heads who think they are cool by bashing a band they think is cool to bash. It is like not liking a good team because they are good, or because everyone else likes them. You may or may not like Metallica, but if you are going to say something about why you dont, make it fucking intelligent. Heavy Metal fans have a bad enough rep as it is, without fucking inbred retards coming out with moranic statements and then proving the rest of the world right. I mean are you a child or what? Grow the fuck up...show some common sense and some respect for yourself and genre of music you claim to be a fan of.

"lol all that remains new album is so much heavier than metallica,acdc,slayer,or machinehead.

much more catchy riffs/chorues and much better guitar work."

That is comparing apples to oranges, One Metallica is Metal , Two All That Remains is a different genre Metalcore which is not real Metal anyway though Phil does have nice clean wimpy pop sounding vocals that would make only little girls cream their panties until he uses them Hardcore screams which sounds like he is trying to sound like a floor punching poser ape,The music is nice until they use rehashed Iron Maiden esque solos , Quite frankly All That Remains sounds EMO compared to Metallica, So if you want your little wimpy EMO music enjoy,have a happy!

Whoa! Wait Heavier than Slayer? You have to be kidding?
You are such a fucking poser just like every other loser that comes here to bash Metallica, Go listen to your emo bands and stay off my screen!

Heavier than AC/DC.....Well I would have to agree but at least AC/DC does not sit around and do everything half assed.

Heavier than Machine Head? Well...as much as I hate Machine Head I would have to say Machine Head destroys All That Remains.

I bet you even love the band It Dies Today....more emo garbage...

Do the Metal community a favor and do not type anymore, EMO!

i'm just sick of hearing the terms EMO and Metalcore. All That Remains...not one of my favorite bands, but their guitarist and especially drummer kill!! And their guitar sound is 100 times heavier than a lot of older metal music (duh!!).

Metallica releases a ballad and everyone loves them....All That Remains stops screaming and singing clean on heavy songs and everyone calls them gay emo???? Not sure about this one.

Just because a band is new doesn't mean they're "metalcore" or "emo".

you don't have to distinguish between kids and "grown men" music do you???. I like 80's metal, 90's metal, 2000's metal. The great thing about the current time in music is that there are thousands of bands and so much diversity to choose from that didn't exist in 1983.

I just have to disagree that a certain type of music is "for kids" unless it's Spice Girls or some American Idol bullshit. One day bands like All That Remains will be considered "classic rock" with the same argument going on in 2030 about what "real" metal is.

I just love heavy metal. I don't want to waste time trying to say one band is "more metal" than another.

Do you think Iommi's guitar on Master of Reality is recorded too high?
==========

You really dont know what we're talking about, do you?? i would suggest the "loudness" war article on wikipedia to start. NO, analog clipping is a much better sound than DIGITAL clipping. Think a noise artist like Merzbow (who often does this on purpose). Scientifically, the human ear responds badly to digital clipping, and often listeners of albums with digital clipping complain of fatigue. Theres something "weird" with listening to it, unless its in a loud bar, etc. Overcompression and "block wav" recording are one thing, but CLIPPING, is another. It sounds muddy and shitty- ask the people who were pissed at Rush for their 2002 album Vapor Trails- read the reviews on Amazon for that, it may help you perceive what we're talking about more..

Besides, Death Magnetic is also poorly mixed. Wheres the bass? Why are the drums so damn loud?

Other than that its their best since the Black Album, maybe longer. Load though sounded like heaven compared to this one, in the mixing and mastering realm. When Bob Cock and his team wasn't trying to "experiment" with Saint Anger, he sounded really good, even if the songs werent up to snuff..

recording back then didn't have the "loudness wars". When I mention "loudness" I don't mean volume, I mean average peak level, especially when all instruments have an extremely high average peak level like Death Magnetic.

Music Pre 1990 actually had dynamics so there were all kinds of peaks with no clipping or distortion.

Death Magnetic is the only album I've ever heard that has this extreme of a loudness problem.

I can't really comment on Iommi's guitar. Different times, different recording, but it worked a lot better than pushing the limits like Death Magnetic does.

it has nothing to do with 128kbps. why is the only thing people know on here is how to mention MP3 ripping qualities??? I'm talking real sound engineering, not the bitrate of an MP3. I have the 320 rip and it's no different from the 128 which I also have. The MP3 has nothing to do with this.

well I don't think it's a mistake. I think the distortion and clipping is a desired result to make it a really "loud" album. They but all the dynamics and peaked the entire thing. The engineer is one of the best in the business so it's unlikely it's a mistake. Fidelman has done Slayer, Slipknot, Marilyn Manson, Bush, U2, Johnny Cash...all sorts of stuff so he's top notch.

My opinion is that they are pushing the "loudness wars" to another level. Too far in my opinion. They want to sound raw and loud, and non-commercial sounding. But they could have help back a bit on the distortion and especially the drums which are WAY too loud in the mix. Where are the guitars??

I can't wait to hear Death Magnetic live. i'm sure it'll kick ass.
