They fixed it. I think they leaked those crappy distorted versions themselves and flooded the net with them to make people want to go out and buy the record which they've promised that the sound quality will be tip-top.

I hope you're right. You've made my day. But why would the official single and iTunes versions sound shitty? People paid money for the iTunes ones.

I'll be curious to hear more reviews but thanks for the update.

the box set isn't only available in Europe. If you order off of Metallica.com it's free shipping in the US. Prices are in US dollars.

It sounds as though the only stores that will carry some copies are in Europe only though.

The curiousity got the best of me last weekend and I downloaded it as well. My first reaction was WTF! I have a feeling that those "pop" sounding songs you are talking about are not Metallica. I think people have been putting fake songs up on the net. It sounds like James singing but way too mellow from the other songs I have heard. Anyone else come to this conclusion? I guess I will find out this Friday when I pick up the real deal. If I am wrong about those "pop" songs being fake, the CD will always make a good target at the target range.

You can get everything in the boxset for FREE! Don't worry Metallica is cool with it since you have all been supporting them over the years. It's because of YOU kick ass fans that Metallica hasen't ever had to work a day in their lifes...
