AEROSMITH Releasing New Music Through 'Guitar Hero'? - Sep. 10, 2008
Although AEROSMITH has yet to officially begin recording its new album, guitarist Joe Perry has told Spinner.com that some of the new songs may be made available in a more unconventional means prior to a proper release: via "Guitar Hero: Aerosmith". "We'll probably release some of the music from our new record as a download so kids can plug it in and play some new tunes on the game," Perry said.

AEROSMITH is expected to enter the studio at the end of September to begin work on the follow-up to 2004's all-covers collection "Honkin' on Bobo". The band's last album of original material was "Just Push Play" in 2001.

AEROSMITH frontman Steven Tyler recently told the band's official fan site, AeroForceOne.com, that the new material will not deviate from the band's signature sound. "[It will be] just your usual AEROSMITH. You can't tame it; rocking-out, in-your-face music," he said.

why is every artist turning into a video game? guitar hero and rock band now control musicians. why else would Metallica have a 10 minute intrumental. I bet the makers of Guitar Hero paid them $20mil just to write that specifically for the game.

Do you know anything about music? Or Metallica?
If it helps to sell video games and promote their music, of course they'll do it. Music is also a business.

As for a 10 minute song, have you heard any of Metallica's music? A 10min song or an instrumental is nothing new.

they will be releasing it for GH. Supposedly aerosmith did very well with the GH game. Since bands aren't making shit off CD sales, go with the current wave.

And I don't beleive bands will make music just for it(metallica had instrumentals on the 1st four records, moron). If you take the example of GHaerosmith, there were some pretty basic songs on there guitar wise. They can make the game as difficult as they want.

I look at this as a good thing for the rock/metal fanbase:
a) it is helping revive and keep alive interest in this kind of music(in a way that doesn't work for rap bullshit)
b) if it allows an additional revenue source, it can be helpful for bands struggling financially
c) some people discover bands for the first time through these games, especially the younger kids that would never hear this on the radio

yes I know metallica's history of instrumentals. I was just implying that they probably got shit loads of money from guitar hero to have an instrumental song on it. And they re-did the solos just for the video game as well.

personally, I think I'd rather pick up a real guitar than play the songs I like on a video game.
