Half the time they come out six months after the original.

find these guys to be kind of boring. I don't know if it's the bad vocals or what, I just can't get into it. It must be the same thing that some people on here think about Mastodon. I think Mastodon is the best band around, but i hear some people say that they can't get into them.
Needless to say, I'm going to drive three hours to Columbus so I can see Metallica with Down rather than Metallica with Machinehead in Detroit.

I agree and thats why I borrowed the DVD from the Opeth "Ghost Reveries" repack from a friend and copied it. At least this as lame as special editions are actually has some decent extras with it. If it had "Battery" and those other missing songs I would probably grab it.

The Blackening is a killer album. Not too many Metal bands will be able to top it. Every Machine Head album rules. This includes The Burning Red, and Supercharger!!!!! The Burning Red will not be a fading memory. Both The Burning Red, and Supercharger were necessary progressions for Machine Head. And the band still stayed HEAVY. Who cares if Robb Flynn rapped? He did it well.
How can anyone sit, and say songs like "Exhale The Vile," "Nothing Left," "I Defy," "Five," and "The Blood, The Sweat, The Tears" are Nu-Metal songs. Even if they are, they are heavy!!!
Both the Burning Red, and Supercharger show that Machine Head can step outside of the Thrash & Ultra Heavy style of Metal, and write emotionally charged Rock songs with dark overtones. Machine Head are the masters of dynamics, and sound ranking up there with Pink Floyd. Their debut--Burn My Eyes--is one of the best Heavy Metal albums recorded. The More Things Change is great too!!!
Why sit and bitch about Roadrunner's special editions, reissues, and anniversary editions? They are a great label, and have done a lot for Heavy Music.
The Blackening Special Edition sounds amazing. The 2nd disc with covers, B-sides, and remixes sounds awesome. Some of the covers on the second disc are from The OLD EP from 1995 which is hard to find. Machine Head's cover of "Colors" from Ice-T is amazing. Even if you don't like rap, you have to check it out. "Colors" is one of the few rap tunes I can listen to, and the movie is awesome. Ice-T is one of the few rappers I can tolerate. "Alan's On Fire" is an awesome song. I've never heard the original, but the song rocks!!!!!
Machine Head=One Of The Best Heavy Metal bands

i don't understand why everyone thinks this cd is so good. was this the first cd they came out with since the burning red? cause that cd was fucking horrible. i still jam burn my eyes, but after that, i don't know, just don't care for them. theres nothing special about the blackening.

They haven't mentioned a US release date yet, this is for the UK....and this actually the third release for the album over there. Why do they keep doing this? Come to think of it, Roadrunner did fuck up by not reissuing Burn My Eyes with the bonus dvd it should have included, maybe including the BME 10th Anniversary footage with this is their way of making up for that.

Including the best song from the Burning Red sessions, "Alcoholocaust". I already have all of those b-sides except the Iron Maiden cover and that's not worth the price for just that. Roadrunner playing typical games again. The only way this shit would stop is if no one would cave into their bullshit.

"this doesnt even need the blackening album with it to be a package worth buying! awesome release!"
Exactly! Why don't they just release the DVD and CD of bonus stuff and just NOT include The Blackening album with it? They could knock a couple bucks off the price and advertise it as the "must-have companion" to the original studio album. People wouldn't feel so ripped off for having to "buy the album twice" if they didn't include it with all of this stuff. I understand why they can't always release stuff at the same time as the original album. In this case, since Machine Head didn't play any 'Blackening' stuff live before the album came out, it would be impossible to include live versions on a DVD with the album's release. I get that completely. So just put that out, forget including the original album with it, and fans who buy RoadRunner products would be MUCH more satisfied. Who knows, initial sales might even go up, since people would be less hesitant to buy an album the first time around if they didn't have the 6-month/1-year special re-release in the back of their minds.

FUCK ROADRUNNER!!!
They can parade around claiming they have "kept it real for metal for over 25 years", yet they sold most of their shares to Warner and sign some pretty dodgy shit (Madina Lake and Nickelback anyone??)
And this "lets wait for a while to rerelease an album" bullshit really pisses me off. Its just random crap piled together with an album that everyone has, in hopes that it will sell
Admitting that this compilation isnt that bad, some of the stuff they come out with just doesnt work....

You know, I was gonna come on here and bitch when I read the headline because I finally just got The Blackening off of Ebay. I got the import with "Battery" and the making of DVD at a fair price and now I see they're doing THIS? After reading the track list for the second CD and the DVD, this is a good buy. Even if you own the Blackening, sell it to a used CD store and use the $5 towards this. Think about it as getting a live/rarities CD with a DVD and the Blackening is the bonus. Sounds fair.

overrated and almost emo-ish album as far as melodies go - I'd save only Aesthetics of Hate out of it.... Cannot hold a candle to BMA or TMTC.
And The Burning Red? Highly UNDERRATED album, whose only problem was the name of the band on the cover... They should've released it as a side projext, best record of the nu metal + bizkit metal era BY FAR.

No doubt that the blackening is big album though the songs are a little bit too long. However, why a re-release? Why? Somebody tell me why. This totally sucks ass. Why not just releasing teh disc with the cover versions and the dvd only? Damn the label policy. Another waste of money many fanes who already have the blackening in their shelfs. Man, this is totally a bummer.

Yeah!! it is all about money, one year later the extended edition,it sucks,i agree with all of u.On the other hand i think the bonuses are awesome i think I will spend my money on this AGAIN!!MH is one of the top bands and they came back after some years of losing the plot, they deserve the success of The Blackening but maybe the next time i will wait ( Ayear?) for the definitive edition.MH rules anyway.
