Guitarist KRIS NORRIS Confirms He Has Left DARKEST HOUR - Sep. 11, 2008
Guitarist Kris Norris has confirmed that he has left the Washington D.C. metal band DARKEST HOUR (as first reported by BLABBERMOUTH.NET yesterday). "Yes, it's not a rumor — I have left DARKEST HOUR," Norris said in a statement sent to BLABBERMOUTH.NET. "Well, I'm not in the band anymore; see it how you want. Let's do no press statements, let's do no bullshit, let's just leave it what it is — I'm not in the band anymore, that's all. See you if I see you. I'm actively pursing some producing routes and any band that might want a guitarist, feel free. I haven't off music totally, not just yet."

Kris Norris recently added an option to buy his instructional DVDs for direct digital download in iPod MP4 format optimized for TV viewing. Each DVD costs $10. The main difference between the digital version and the DVD edition is that the DVD is sold as a DVD-ROM which contains the booklet and extras, including previously unreleased songs featured throughout the DVDS and two subtitle tracks.

DARKEST HOUR's latest album, "Deliver Us", was released in July 2007 via Victory Records. The follow-up to 2005's "Undoing Ruin" was recorded at the Warehouse in Vancouver, Canada.

Doesn't sound like this was a very amicable departure.

This is the end for Darkest Hour. Sucks for them. I don't care...At The Gates-wannabe's need to die and leave us alone anyhow. Even As I Lay Crying included.

Blood and Tears is right, sort of. Above all, they are not original, nor are many of their peers. This melo-death revival crap is retarded. It's not bad music, but it's reeeeeaaaalllly lame.

All these bands are just lame... And really tame, too... I really see no difference between this new wave of metal and emo.. It is all the same to me...

By far the worst post EVER!! What a moron....

And it sucks he left/was booted from the band.....Excellent musicians. Awesome band.

And I think Devin Townsend knows what's Metal or not, and he produced their last two cds. So you can all go tell him how "emo" they are! Let's see what he has to say.

why do you say that? beause i have an opinion that is not yours?

sure, they are excellent musicians, and maybe i should have said, "so sedated" is fucking awesome! it has got a dirty punkish vibe to it, which is pleasing to my ears...

but, come on, excellent musicians or not, they have been treading water since then, getting safer sounding with each release, and that, is not pleasing to my ears.... not dangerous sounding, at all...

as far as devin townsend is concerned, i think he is awesome... he is more talented in one of his fingernails, than every band he produces will ever be, but he is not stupid... the "metal" scene that employs him, while not high roller type lucrative, is steady work because it is in vogue right now... he is not going to shit where he eats, i wouldn't think....

I don't think he was in the band when I saw them live. They definitely didn't "shred" back then. He stepped in, and to me, he was too good for the band and stuck out like a diamond in a goat's ass.

Do you people even have fucking ears?
Darkest hour... melodeath? Come the fuck on.
They are pretty original, actually.
And I see no resemblance to at the gates, idiot.

Sad to see Kris gone. He was fucking awesome. Hopefully this doesn't mean the end of the band.

Kris helped the band progress musically. That's not an opinion it's a fact. Whether you like the musical direction is another story.

In my humble opinion they got better with each album with Kris and I'm personally really bummed about this news. I hope that somehow this is temporary but it sounds like it's not. A hit to great metal.

but hey, that's a good thing. ATG vocalist was even on "hidden Hands..." wasn't he?

Anyhow, "So Sedated..." was awesome the first time I heard it, and still is great. But yes, their last few are a little boring, even though they were starting to put some really good solos in there.

Yes, a lot of bands try to copy the sound that ATG created, but I haven't found anyone do it as good as Darkest Hour and In Thy Dreams. Anyone know of any others?

"I figured out I was losing my time and talent with this band and I feel like moving to new things where I can get a decent and steady paycheck"

Surprised?
