METALLICA's UK 'Magnetic' Box Missing CD

Paul Cashmere of Australia's Undercover News reports that fans who purchase the UK pressed box set edition of METALLICA's "Death Magnetic" album may discover that there is no sound. That is because they forgot to put in the CD. Not only is the CD missing from many of the boxes, so is the limited edition lithograph. The box was meant to include a vinyl version of "Death Magnetic", a CD and digital version and the lithograph. The vinyl version is a 5-LP set. Read more from Undercover News.

If the production sound is as bad on the cd as it was on the one you could download from the internet then i wont buy it because the production was really horrible. The music was "kinda" good though.

I listened to those solos, they fucking blow, uninspired riffing and lazy noodling, Satch and Hammett could play better solos with two fucking fingers. Rich Ward is a hack, Stuck Mojo is an unimportant band that fucking rap rock retards who are stuck in 1995 still listen to.

Do you even know what a pentatonic scale is since you keep throwing it around? It has five repeating notes, where as a minor scale or a major scale has seven. So in 25 years of being a world famous guitar player all kirk hammett has ever done is played the same five notes repeating over and over again? What about Stevie Ray Vaughan or Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton, those guys more or less played Pentatonic scales, are you calling them hacks? If you knew anything about guitar then you would know that Satch mainly plays Mixolydian he's quite famous for it actually. Also Kirks playing in the 80s was pure modal, he's even admitted as much in interviews saying he went mainly pentatonic in the 90s.

once I had quite similar problem, when I bought Led zeppelin 10 cd box "the complete studio recordings", where in the "I" album there was no music, just some old guy telling a nonsence story that I didn't understood actually. But when I change it to new one, it was alright, the new "I" was ok :]

You have crap stereos. Period. It sounds amazing on guitar hero, and the mix on the cd is very similar. The only difference is the layering. The drums are not as prominant on Guitar Hero as they are on the cd and the Unforgiven 3 has the orchestra turned up more on the cd than on GH.
No one is ever happy. the "HARDCORE" or rather pigeon hole fans wanted the album to sound like they did in 1986 but when some of the songs sound similar to ANYTHING they say its a rehash. Thats called a Paradox. No matter what you will never be happy.
The album is very catchy. I cant wait to learn the stuff on guitar. When I search blabbermouth I wont even open an article if it has bands I dont give a damn about. There is no such thing as bad publicity in the music business. The more people bitch the more strength a band gets. Just look at Ozzy or Marilyn Manson.
The more you people look at Metallica threads the more that will be posted. You know why there are so many? Because EVERYONE READS THEM. Blabbermouth survives due to advertisements.
I think if you are so black and white and you unconditionally HATE Metallica that you are either 35 and unmarried, lonely and pathetic or you are some dumb kid that doesnt know the meaning of good music.
Non stop fast shit is boring. It all sounds the same. Im a slayer fan, and I cant tell half their shit apart. That band never needed to release more than 2 albums because its nothing new. They are one dimensional and useless.
Has anyone ever watched a slayer DVD? I own several and their fans are absolutely retarded jackasses. Im a civilized person and I laugh at these inbred doped up rejects when I watch this shit. Carving SLAYER in your arm with a razor isnt HARDCORE its dumb. GET A TATTOO. But I guess Slayer fans are no better than Metallica fans in the late 80's. Im 25 and ive been a Metallica fan for 12 years. I used to think Kill Em All was amazing. But listening to it now makes me yawn. Theres more out there than open E palm muted for 45 minutes.
Metallica bashers should just grow up, get a life and stop wasting your time on blabbermouth bashing bands you dont like. Read up on the ones you do and log off. Simple as that.

You made some great points. I justed wanted to way n alittle on the production.
1. I downloaded the first two singles off of itunes.
2. I bought the cd from Target on release day.
3. I downloaded the Guitar Hero add-on.
4. My equipment is as follows: a) Car- 2008 BMW 328i with in dash cd and USB ipod connection B) Home- Pioneer Elite receiver, Harmon/Kardon CD player and Bose Lifestyle 20 speaker system. Bose Quiet Comfort II headphones.
5. The download of "The Day That Never Comes" was fucking terrible in the car and on my ipod, whether I played it in my car, on my home stereo or through headphones. Headphones were the worst. My Apocolypse was better, but not much. The mix was so loud, I founf myself having to turn down the volume to get a good sound, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.
6. The CD was infanately better than the downloads as a whole, although I must say that "The Day That Never Comes" suffered on all platforms. I actually thought that most of the album sounded phenomenal in my car, where I will be listening to it the most. Yes, the whole album suffered through the headphones, but c'mon people, do we really listen to Metallica that way? They're not Tool or Rush. The only time I will probably listen to Death Magnetic through headphones is while I'm mowing the lawn and using my $40 Phillips earbuds. The loud production is actually great for this.
7. After uploading the cd to my itunes, the digital version sounds a good deal better than what I got off of itunes (usually the case), but still it suffers from the cd. The strange thing was that "The Day That Never Comes" actually sounded a bit better. Go figure.
Here's the deal. Metallica is a metal band. They play some damn good thrash on this record. Hearing tracks like "That Was Just Your Life", and Broken Beat and Scarred" really took me back to what I felt like when I first heard them back in '86. I didn't give two shits about production back then seeing as how I used to listen to Puppets on cassette tape through a GE boom box or an Audiovox walkman and $3.99 headphones. To me, it's about what they play, not whether they make Rush their bitch from a production standpoint. Oh and buy the way, the Guitar Hero tracks are fun as Hell but took a shit long time to download. Sony needs more bandwith and better wireless cards in future PS3's.

is mixed too loud, that's a fact...I have listened to it on ipod, through bose headphones on a £2K stereo and it distorts because it is mixed so damn loud!
That was just your life is a cool song though...my favourite so far...
I bought the ltd edition set from Zavvi today and everything is 100% fine with it...apart from the mix on TDTNC
