Former KORN Guitarist's Backwards Message Unmasked? - Sep. 15, 2008
A BLABBERMOUTH.NET visitor who is registered on YouTube under the name "chtimixeur" has submitted the following item:

"If you listen closely to [former KORN guitarist] Brian 'Head' Welch's first song ['L.O.V.E.'] on his solo record ['Save Me From Myself'], you will hear weird sounds where he seems to say a few sentences backwards.

"I played it backwards, and here's what he says:

'I gave you everything
All the pain life brings
Just to get you to
Come back to me'

"I had done a previous version of this video, but the sound was too distorted to hear anything. That's why I improved the quality of the rip and released this new video."

Watch the clip below.

"Save Me From Myself" was released on September 9 through Driven Music Group (distribution by Ryko/Warner Music Group), the label he co-founded with music execs Greg Shanaberger and Mark Nawara. The CD was produced by Head, who recorded the music off and on for the past two years in Phoenix, Arizona. It features renowned musicians Tony Levin (PETER GABRIEL, DAVID BOWIE) and Josh Freese (A PERFECT CIRCLE, NINE INCH NAILS), and was mixed by Ralph Patlan and Bob Clearmountain. It's a testimony of Head's life as he battled with drug addiction and leaving KORN, and finding spirituality.

Brian "Head" Welch has launched a promo tour to celebrate the release of "Save Me From Myself". At each stop along the tour route, Head is signing copies of the album, as well as his autobiographies, "Save Me From Myself", which landed on the New York Times Bestseller list (non-fiction) and has sold over 70,000 copies since its release, and "Washed By Blood". The latter is an edited paperback version of "Save Me From Myself" aimed at a younger audience and doesn't contain the profanity and gory details of the original version. A paperback of the original "Save Me From Myself" is also available now.

I thought backwards messages were supposed to be cryptic yet vaugely meaningful...this is just the usual blah blah blah that you would expect to hear being played normally.

COMMENT | Same as the verse.

That "hidden" message is the same as the first four lines of the verse...doesn't seem very secretive to me. Just a neat way of introducing that creepy atmosphere to the beginning of the album.
The album is alright, some of it is very catchy, but the cheesy synths kill it. Way too many of those effects all over the album.

Am I the only one dissapointed with the last few albums that have been released? Slipknot, The Haunted, Gojira, this Head album?
I don't know, these bands made interesting albums 4-8 years ago, now they are just ...eh.
I wonder who's the next band that will come out and wow us.

Thanks Blabbermouth for posting my video !

Like someone said on the youtube comments, this message must be interpreted like "God" talking to Head. I suppose this made sense to him...

> Random Name : I didn't need a lot of time to create this video. It took me maybe 5 minutes...

COMMENT | This is the best cd out this year

This cd is freakin awesome, the sound, the guitars, the vocals. Didn't know Head could do better than Davis. If this was a Korn Album this would be their best. You can really hear how he was basically KORN. I think it's cool on how some songs he makes it seem like God is saying enough is enough and he is getting pissed and hurt but he makes it come across in way that I could picture God saying those things to us.
