BUCKCHERRY: 'Black Butterfly' First-Week Sales Projection - Sep. 17, 2008
BUCKCHERRY's fourth studio album, titled "Black Butterfly", is on track to sell around 40,000 copies in its first week of release, according to Hits Daily Double, the companion web site of music industry tip sheet HITS. The CD follows up 2006's "15", which marked a huge comeback for the band after it was left for dead in 2002. "15" sold more than one million copies and produced several hit singles, with the song "Crazy Bitch" becoming one of the most popular ringtones ever. Although the band is now bigger than it was before its four-year hiatus, singer Josh Todd told The Pulse of Radio their values remain the same. "When we started out, I remember Keith (Nelson, guitarist) and I just saying that we had gotten to a point where just, like, we just wanted to make music that we were excited about," he said. "It was just all about, like, 'Let's just go and enjoy ourselves.' And we still have that philosophy today, you know, like we don't want to overthink it and we don't want to chase radio, you know, we just want to make the music that means something to us. And if it's real to us, it's gonna be real to everybody else."

BUCKCHERRY came onto the scene in 1999 with its self-titled debut album, which went gold. But its 2001 sophomore effort, "Time Bomb", was a sales disappointment, leading Todd and Nelson to put the band on ice until 2005.

Todd and Nelson are the only original members still in the group. During BUCKCHERRY's hiatus they were involved with an early version of VELVET REVOLVER.

"Don't Go Away" is the latest single from "Black Butterfly". It follows up "Too Drunk..."

Should 'like' go back to acting or something, 'like' you know what I mean.

This band is 'chasing radio' like a dog chases tires.

Stop being a troll.

You haven't seen Buckcherry until you've seen them headline.

Will be picking up the album on Friday, it slays 15.

Agreed. They're nothing but a contrived, pop-rock formulated band. I'm surprised he even had the balls to say they don't chase radio.

COMMENT | Oh noes, they're popular.

I gotta respect this band for keeping sleaze rock going in a moderately popular form.

Who gives a fuck if they're chasing radio? I'd rather hear this on the radio than the other trash we get subjected to. At least its fucking rock.

I don't see what's so hard about having a world view that accomodates listening to both 9 minute time-signature-bending Pain of Salvation tracks and also enjoying brainless distortion driven party anthems.

Can't beat WAV files for a buck !!

Only listened to it once so far. I don't really hear anything that blows me away. I'll give it a few more spins.

I've seen Buckcherry many times and they are awesome live. Bought the new cd Tuesday and gave it one listen so far. Not bad, but they definitely lightened up a bit. A few more "Everything" type songs are in there. The new single however is really good. I think they are trying to cash in on their popularity with this cd. Maybe it will hit me more after a few listens just like "15". That cd kicked ass. Crazy Bitch was probably the worst or 2nd to worst song on it. Either way I can't wait till they come around again. Amazing live show!!

Sorry haters, when you release a song called Crazy Bitch or Too Drunk To Fuck it is NOT chasing radio. Especially when radio has to edit out the profanity, in fact how much more anti-radio can you get. Buckcherry are doing their own thing and thank god there's still some straight up rock n roll left for the masses.

I always have to laugh when I see professional jealousy on the run. Nasty comments... hahaha
All I personally have to say, is that I have never been a push over, and my personal opinion is that Josh Todd has the most Amazing and Unusual Voice in Rock & Roll in the last decade.
All of the band members, Josh, Keith, Jimmy, Stevie and X are all extremely talented and seasoned musicians and Thank God someone is pushing the envelope out there.
They've worked hard at their craft and I am smiling in my sleep for our local LA Band!

Rock On Guys!

xx ; )
